IJOY invests the clearomiser market with a brand new range, ACME, specially created, according to the manufacturer, to counter the Kanger / Aspire monopoly in the field. It could seem quite difficult, after recent advances in the field of sub-ohm clearos, to innovate in this area and yet IJOY arrives with a fairly striking novelty which seems improbable on paper but which works in reality: airflow from the top.
This new process has a significant advantage, it prevents any leakage! Indeed, once screwed, the bottom of the clearomizer not having an airhole, there is theoretically no possibility that the liquid will flow at this level.
On the other hand, it implies a new way of vapping that we will detail further.
Today we are scrutinizing the youngest of the new family, the S, which is fundamentally designed for beginners with its eGo connection, low price and small capacity.

Physically, there is no such thing as a revolution. The ACME S looks like a… clearomiser. The build quality is very good compared to the price, even if, greedy that I am, I would have preferred a stainless steel than chromed brass but we must admit that for the price, we have a well-designed object, heavy enough to its small size and in comparison with other clearomizers and which exudes a nice build quality. Steel, there is still some for the tank: a thin layer to protect the pyrex.

It is therefore in the functionalities that we find the ingenious concept initiated by IJOY: the air intake by the top cap. The principle is simple: the air is sucked in by the adjustable airhole positioned on the top cap then undergoes a 180 ° bypass which directs the flow into the resistance and the “air + vapor” mixture goes back into the chimney towards the drip-tip . The first effect is therefore a perfect seal of the clearo, including upside down and shaken vigorously. Moreover, if our sponsors knew what is being done to the material they lend us, they would undoubtedly tear their hair out. So I'm counting on you not to tell them anything! 😉

With the ACME-S, we have a really user-friendly product which is therefore very easy to manage on a daily basis. Of course, we must not lose sight of the fact that this is a small clearomizer, more suited to beginners or vapers who are small consumers of liquid. We note, over several days of testing, the total absence of any leak, which remains very reassuring for transport and handling. Really easy and secure.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Rather a good surprise in terms of these specifications and its quality, I was especially expecting the ACME-S on its rendering since the new design of this clearomiser necessarily implied a rendering different from what we know.
Let's talk about flavors. At this level, no disappointment, the flavors are faithfully transcribed and the taste is present, regardless of the airflow opening chosen. This is an excellent point that must be put into perspective by placing the product in its level of range. No question of achieving here the acuity of a dripper or the saturation of a reconstructable atomizer but, in its playground, the ACME-S does better than defend itself.
Let's talk about steam. Therein lies the great novelty. The principle of operation that we have mentioned involves a new way of vaping. Indeed, the draft is tight AND aerial, at the same time and this, whatever the air flow that we choose !!! I know it's not easy to understand (don't worry, I'm also very bothered to explain it!). You have to pull hard enough to engage the air in its process and you can modulate with your mouth if you want to be satisfied with a normal vape or to go into direct inhalation because the clearo can do it but it leaves you the choice of modulate this aspect with your mouth. In this sense, we find ourselves very close to the rendering of a cigarette from which we can choose to keep the smoke in the mouth or to suck it into the lungs. The first sensation is strange and yet, in the long run, we get used to this vape very well, controllable at will, which can therefore generate, depending on your choice, a limited or abundant vapor. Very interesting and new, it is frankly worth trying it, especially since all the models in the range are equipped with an identical system and some may therefore be suitable for experienced vapers.
In summary, this clearo is an excellent surprise and is positioned as a fierce competitor in its price range. It is of course necessary to take into account its limits, induced by a proprietary OCC resistor at 2Ω and its fairly low autonomy but which will perfectly suit first-time vapers equipped with a variable-voltage eGo battery, the ACME-S will not anyway no higher than 11W without the taste of hot appearing!
