The name Protank certainly speaks to you, KangerTech took over this name for marketing reasons and not to offer you a version of the good old Protank, which, if it was at the forefront of clearos a few years ago, no longer represents today only obsolete equipment.
The Protank 4 has nothing in common with its former colleague clearomiser, it has all the developments that make this kind of atos the most used in the world, with the little evolutionary self-respecting sign that major brands of the vaposphere are informed of the regulatory provisions that now govern their commercial future in Europe.
Its price places it at the start of mid-range prices, we will see that it is not exaggerated given the quality of manufacture and the many accessories provided in the package. Let's enter the bowels of the beast to be convinced, let's go!

The metal parts are made of stainless steel, brushed appearance outside, the Pyrex tank is partially protected by the body of the atomizer.
65g without the resistance for a maximum of 68,5g with the supplied RBA base, without the juice of course. Its total length without 510 connection but including the drip-tip is 61mm, which is already a nice piece (longer than a mini volt box: 55mm).
Ventilation from the bottom is provided by 2 vents 13mm long 1,75mm thick (width), adjustable by means of a ring.
The base of the ato presents a connection 510 little adjustable because the positive pin is nested in the insulator, each screwing of the ato on a mod will therefore position it to the minimum without possibility to lock the position.
It hosts the series SSOCC resistors compatible with Subtanks and recent models of Kanger atomizers (Nebox, Subvod ...), but also a Velocity type RBA base which we will talk about again.
The tank part is composed of a Pyrex tank and an original top-cap, the operation of which we will detail later, know here that it serves as the basis for the drip-tip and the filling with an innovation that I told you more about. top: “child safety”, an original system. This part of the tank adjoins the tank, which cannot be changed in case of breakage.
The 510 drip-tip supplied is made of metal / Delrin, I will detail its characteristics in the dedicated section.
We are in the presence of a beautiful object, perfectly finished, functional and practical, almost elegant, although of unobtrusive proportions. Its capacity of 4 or 5ml, according to the type of resistances used, makes it an atomizer with a respectable juice autonomy.

The main innovation of this ato lies in its original filling device. The manipulation is as follows:
You hold the tank firmly by its metal parts and you unscrew the top-cap, then appears a red seal, a few turns are enough and you will shoot the top-cap, on 6mm (a stop avoids you to pull too much), for free the system location. A notched ring and an oblong light with an arrow should be visible. Turning the ring in the direction of the arrow you open the filling light, once the operation is completed you close it all, first with the inner ring, then pushing and screwing the top-cap.
KangerTech presents this device as "child protection". We can consider it thus, one thing is certain, it is that once closed, the top-cap does not leak absolutely, whatever the position of the atomizer.
The AFC portion of the base is adjusted by rotation of the ring, a stop prevents it from exceeding the useful arc, in one direction or the other, the ring slides without effort, it may be subject to to an unexpected adjustment on a tubular mod in 22mm, because the notches are slightly salient of the rest of the ato (which measures 22,5mm at this place).
The 510 base accommodates the Kanger SSOCC resistors, or the RBA plate which we are going to talk about here. It is a velocity-type deck with 2 pylons spaced apart by 3,25mm (7mm for the mounting holes, 1,5mm in diameter each). The assembly is easy, coils are provided, they indicate the possible diameters of the wicks, and their optimal lengths, to allow an efficient assembly, capillary included, we will speak about it again.
2 airholes of 3mm diameters are arranged under the resistances, you also distinguish 2 pairs of arrivals of juice, on both sides of the vents, as well as laterally on the lower part of the base.
The atomization bell is provided with notches facilitating its grip for screwing / unscrewing easy, all this is once again well thought out and well done.
Rest the drip-tip, also provided, which is not out of features.

The bi-material object is designed for the comfort of vape in sub-ohm and at high power, by its part in Delrin and because it has an AFC. The two side vents 7,5mm for 1mm wide, provide direct ventilation that cools the vapor and makes the vape more airy.
The base fitted into the top-cap leaves a useful diameter of 4,5mm for an exit after the Ø 8mm vents. With a total length of 19mm, it only protrudes from the top-cap by 14mm, its proportions are well studied for the atomizer, the adjustment ring is provided with gripping notches, which facilitate its handling, it is pleasant in the mouth . Again, it's a great job.

At KangerTech, we do not skimp on packaging. It's beautiful and effective, the objects are perfectly protected and do not move. The cardboard box opens in drawer, it is closed by a case also cardboard, all wrapped in a transparent thermo-welded plastic.
Inside, ready to use, your atomizer. Once the protective foam constituting the first stage has been removed, you have access to the accessories: 1 SSOCC MTL resistance of 1,5 Ohms (mouth to lung tight pull) 1 Ceramic resistance of 0,5 Ohm (mounted on the ato) - 1 Tray RBA Velocity with a Dual Clapton resistance, natural Japanese cotton, an Allen key, 4 replacement screws for the RBA, a manual translated into French and an authenticity card to be validated on the manufacturer's website.
The packaging, like the material, is serious. It shows a desire of the brand to respect its customers, even though the selling price is still very accessible.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
I used it with the RBA tray and the supplied dual clapton coil, at 0,33Ω. I inserted Fiber Freaks D1, taking care not to close the airholes, and place the ends on the hollow housing of the tray where the juice arrives. 50 / 50 to stay consensual (in one word, I prefer) to filling, which allows me to tell you that it is not possible to fill the tank to the brim because you have to tilt (unless to have a variable geometry tip which is not my case).
As a result, you must open the airflow to this resistance value and 50W, but that's fine. Good flavor and steam production in shambles. It starts to heat the juice if you chain-steam continuously after a quarter of an hour, otherwise it's the foot.
I did not feel the need to act on the airflow of the drip-tip, which I left closed all the time. No leak, no dry hit, the location of the arrivals of juice allow to finish honorably the reserve, a plus compared to other atos of the mark. The consumption is, of course, related to the mounting and the power you are mounting, but it is in line with the tested configuration. I'm not disappointed, I keep my drippers, but I admit that the clearos are in progress, it is well worth the subtank level vape and it is better equipped.
