Kangertech resuscitates a small legend of the vape. Indeed the Protank had been abandoned in favor of the Subtank range.
But the Chinese manufacturer has decided to revive its phoenix in the form of a hybrid clearomiser.
The Protank 4 browses the price of the RDTA reconstructible atomizers in vogue.
A daring bet, we are happy to see this companion return, whose ancestors, for my part, still sleep in the drawers. I like knowing they are still there, it is with them that everything really started for me.
I am both super happy and a little anxious, the revivals are not always up to our expectations.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
Our new Protank has little to do with its predecessors. 22mm in diameter and almost 50mm high for a capacity of 5ml. Stainless steel and Pyrex are combined in a sober and elegant design. A stainless steel tube pierced with 2 rectangular windows with rounded angles, they allow to have a correct point of view on the contents of the tank. On what we will call the bottom-cap kangertech is part of a nice engraving.
Just below, a laser-etched drop lets us think that the filling is done from the top.
The airflow ring breaks the elongated whole, two series of 5 raised pavers are positioned on either side of the ring and form the grip. The two slits ensuring the air intake largely occupy the rest of the perimeter.
The metal and black Delrin drip-tip is equipped with an airflow ring of a similar style.
It is well machined, it is clean, the threads are well made and the O-rings too. For the moment I recognize that this Protank does not leave me indifferent.

Reviewer's comments on functional features
Immediately, we notice the small drop engraved on the top of the tank, near the tank / top cap junction. We unscrew the top cap, it slides but does not separate from the body of the atomizer. It reveals a ring, an arrow indicates its direction of rotation. Once rotated, an ovoid orifice allows filling from the top.
The atomizer allows the use of proprietary SSOCC resistance, which will delight the less experienced, or less DIY. This is the opportunity to discover a new ceramic resistance and a new SS organic cotton resistance.
The RBA resistor supplied with the Protank uses a Velocity type base, with two air inlets and four holes to supply juice.
A tray dedicated to double coil, which is screwed to the base as a simple resistance. We are on the principle developed with the Subtank.
The AFC is precise, two small stops limit its rotation. The ring is flexible but not too much.
After examination, everything seems perfectly functional, remains to be seen in use, but it seems to fit together quite a bit.

The bi-material drip-tip perfectly complements the ato. I'm not a fan of airflow, it's noisy, but the airflow ring brings a design element, well for me who decided not to use it. The internal diameter seems in line with the vape suggested by the equipment of the atomizer.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
We are faced with a box identical to the one used by Kanger for the Subtank family, except that it is white and not black. Surrounded by a scabbard decorated with the product photo. Once removed re-belote, a photo of the beast. The box opens like a drawer, and we find our old friend well wedged in his foam covered with a red felt. We remove the first floor, and we find the resistances, coils and cotton, a notice in French. It's nickel nothing to complain about, the presentation and in perfect harmony with the price level.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
If you opt for a constructor resistance, the Protank, then what to say? Think about starting the resistance and voila. For users of the RBA base, no problem, the coils are easy to put in place, just remember to build them in an inverted way, so that the pastes will each fall in front of a hole.
The Fiber once passed in the coil, arises by compacting slightly at the level of the four small cavities where the juice arrives. For confirmed vapers there is no difficulty.
The filling system is nickel, the only recommendation is to lay the atomizer down, I had no problem with leaks or weeping.
The atomizer is compact enough for nomadic use, acoquiné with a Pico for example, we obtain a perfectly nomadic set-up.
The 4ml of capacity with the RBA base will not allow you to make the day, in fact, the double coil… it drinks well. Remember to take your juice, but which vapoteur goes for a ride without taking at least a bottle ?.
With the Kanger coils, the capacity drops to 5ml, and the consumption is a little less important, so potentially, it will be easier not to have to refill during the day.
Cleaning is easy, but everything cannot be disassembled, so I have known more practical, note besides that the Pyrex is not removable, to good understanding ..
This Protank 4 offers a vape close to that of a Subtank, but I find that it is more effective in restoring flavors.
A very good product, with no real flaws, I think it will quickly find buyers.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
The Protank is back in force with this V4. Happy to find one of the clearomizers which meant a lot to me.
Finally, we do not really find it, the Protank 4 adopts the hybrid concept developed with the series of Subtanks. He therefore no longer has much in common when it comes to the vape he offers. More aerial, offering a wider range of uses, it is therefore much more versatile.
But where it meets the Protank in my opinion, it is in terms of elegance, I find the design successful and much “lighter” than that of the Subtank.
Added to this the Velocity-style RBA tray which offers a vape rich in aromas and consistent in volume of vapor, the portrait is almost perfect.
The Protank is not a simple revival, it allows Kangertech to offer us a new atomizer, practical and efficient, which is a kind of synthesis of the knowledge of the Chinese giant.
So yes, the bet is successful and the Protank 4 is not only a marketing concept intended to surf on a legendary name, from the past.
