We were expecting designers from Youde to make the star of their RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer), the mini Goblin. They have of course responded and we offer the V2. Always very carefully presented, this last version of the Goblin is a little more expensive than the previous one but contains more components as well as spare parts.
It is therefore always very pleasing to note that manufacturers like Youde are listening to the vapers from all over the world and are willing to question their products and propose, by versions, the evolutions suggested with constancy and more or less from FOREWORD. The V2 mini Goblin is a model for the suggestions he now satisfies, let's see this in detail.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
I will only compare the two atos with respect to the proposed changes. The test pattern is black, the base material is 304 stainless steel, for the body and pyrex for the tank. The quality of manufacture is, as usual at this manufacturer, perfect.
Two top-cap and drip-tip options are available, as was the case on the V1 but one of them differs: the original one, we'll talk about it again. A first evolution is located on the loops constituting the top cap, they are notched for a better grip.
Externally, under the plate, there are also two lugs allowing access to the airflow adjustment, instead of a (less convenient) on the V1. The base of the plate is, too, notched.
The plate is a little "wider" on the V2: 18,75mm (13mm for the V1) at the level of the screw thread of the atomization chamber. More room for more exotic coils therefore, but always with precision so as not to touch the wall of the chamber. 4 assembly stations, classic and practical, without change on the two models, except for the space available.
The top-cap is now in two parts, Youde having given up filling from the bottom. I will detail the top-cap / drip-tip / chimney assembly later, because this is mainly where the notable modifications of this version are located. The utility of the grooves pouring into the chimney escapes me, a drainage certainly, but not obvious to me.
Once assembled, this ato looks like his older brother. It has the same proportions, weighs just 3g more and retains a capacity of 3,5ml. It is equipped with the same O-rings profiled for the waterproofness of the tank, in silicone.

Reviewer's comments on functional features
Let's start the functional descriptions with the bottom-cap, which also acts as a mounting plate and adjustable air inlet, all finished with the 510 connection. The positive pin of the latter is adjustable by screwing / unscrewing. We note that the base of the ato is provided with a moving part serving to shut off or open the air supply of the coil (s). Vertical lights ensure the ventilation of the whole, interrupting the ring which therefore rests, in part, on the top-cap of the mod or the box and which constitutes the very base of the ato. The difference with the Goblin mini V1 is that Youde placed two tabs for adjustment instead of one on the V1. The airflow will be more accessible to handling once the ato is screwed onto a box.
The other part of the board contains the deck, made up of 3 pylons for passing resistive wires, the central of which corresponds to the positive posts and the two lateral ones to the negative posts. The diameter has been increased as we have seen above, but this is the same mounting process as on the V1. The passage lights of the wires are 1,2mm in diameter, which allows complex assemblies up to four coils in 2 × 2 parallel horizontal or vertical, single or multi-strands.
A cylinder is then screwed onto the lower part of the plate, thus encompassing your assembly, it will act as an atomization chamber. It is also larger than that of the predecessor (V1). I will come back to the assembly requirements to be respected both for the coils and for the capillaries.
The top-cap is the piece that has evolved the most. This is broken down into two parts: The part which contains the bell and the chimney presents itself, in the upper part, like the “receptionist” of the juice, thanks to the two side vents provided for filling (and simultaneous decompression through the hole. opposite). Then comes a cap, pierced in its center, which will close this top cap, once the filling operation is complete. The drip-tip can then be inserted.

Two possibilities of top-caps are available with the mini Goblin V2. First, the pre-assembled version with a 510 drip-tip condensate drainer by two propellers hollowed out inside. Useful and well thought out, this drip-tip is also able to withstand, by its opening diameter, a very airy draw, essential for lovers of ULR (Ultra Low Resistance) or even: from vape to sub-ohm.
Another top-cap (cap would be fairer) is present in the package. It has fins designed to improve heat dissipation and its proprietary pyrex drip-tip, known to be a poor thermal conductor. Dimensions of the pyrex drip-tip: 15mm long and only protruding 10mm from the top cap once inserted. The thickness of the glass is 1,5mm, for a useful internal diameter of 7mm.

The package is neat, as usual at Youde.
In addition to the atomizer, you will find in the pre-drilled foam: a spare tank, a pyrex drip-tip adapted to the finned top cap provided under the tank and a bag of "spare parts" including a complete set of O-rings (only one for the profiles), screws and the ceramic shutter essential for assembly in single coil. The instructions are in English, but accompanied by numerous drawings explaining the basic operations, it is more than enough.
Appreciations in use

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
The use of this ato will essentially be conditioned by your assembly, depending on the viscosity of the juice that you plan to vape. Let's go back to some fundamentals that will constitute the arguments in favor of this or that option:
The more viscous the juice, the less easily it flows. The colder it is, the less fluid it is and therefore unsuitable for easy flow. The more you go down in resistance value, the more you will heat your coil and consume juice. The smaller the diameter of the coil, the less it allows the flow of a significant volume of juice, particularly when the capillary is too compressed. If the arrangement and the choice of the capillary are sloppy, you with all the chances of tasting the joys of the dry-hit and having to redo an assembly.
The context represented by the atomizer with its assembly must therefore represent a compromise between the viscosity of the juice, the value of the resistance (total for a double coil) and the choice, the "shape" and the arrangement of the capillary. So, you can undertake to send the 65W necessary for your coil at 0,25 ohm to vape a 100% VG without risking the dry hit at the third puff. This is all the more true with the mini Goblin, because the space available to properly accommodate such an assembly remains cramped and not easy to understand at first.
A few strings should put you on a track leading to the happiness of vaping with this ato. If you are starting out, consider a simple coil, 3mm inside diameter, with Kanthal A1 - 0,51mm (24 gauge, AWG, US standards) on seven turns. You should be around 0,60Ω. Center your assembly as closely as possible, leave 2mm above the air inlet vent. The imperative condition, with the or the resistance, is that it must not touch, in any place, the cylinder which surrounds it. The penalty in operation is: instantaneous formation of a hot spot and breakage of the wire. It is by screwing the chamber that you will notice a possible friction.
Your hair should be cotton (flower, natural untreated) or a blend (Fiber Freaks Cotton Blend) or one of the two cellulose fibers offered by Fiber Freaks, D1 or D2. With these types of capillaries which are widely recognized as being very good materials, you can't go wrong, especially since they almost all handle with the same end constraints.
You will be careful to cut or select a piece of barely 3,5mm in diameter, no more, and longer than what you will have to leave in the end. You will need to make a pointy end to thread it into the coil, but this part will not be useful afterwards. Make sure that the cotton slides without forcing or curling in the coil, and that it is simply held without moving, by itself. At the height of the perimeter of the plate (no screws on the base), cut the pointed part at an angle (diagonally from top to bottom). Repeat the operation on the other side, center your cotton and make sure it does not exceed the edge of the thread on either side, if necessary, cut.
Now take your pipette and soak the wick to then be able to position it in the access channels, without blocking the horizontal “tray” at the base of the tray, at the end of each channel. You have of course, previously, positioned the shutter provided in the package, you still have to screw the heating chamber.
I advise against mounting the Mini Goblin by placing the capillary "whiskers up", dry, and then replacing them inside the channels, after having screwed the chamber, "haphazardly" as for to the consistency and final positioning of the famous mustaches. Check for yourself by making one or more assemblies in this way, you can then compare the two methods, with the quality of vape that each of them generates.
Go to the double coil will not pose more problem, after controlling your assembly in single coil, this ato really worth the time we will spend to find the right compromise mentioned above.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
So no need to preach for converts who already knew V1. They did not wait for the magazine to get it. As for you who are new to this atomizer, you will have noted, I hope, that it is not intended for beginners without some experience in sharp assemblies.
Youde has nevertheless worked on this accessibility component to a wider range of users thanks to the modifications made to this V2: ease of filling, access to airflow control, enlargement of the working space, drainage drip-tip at better the condensed juice overflow.
Still, the mini Goblin does not tolerate the almost and the most important link in the chain, for a vape close to the best drippers, it is you and your mastery or coils that you will mount him. I know that when you realize that the editing is too tight, you must first empty the tank before dismantling the ato (I've been there too, and it's probably not over ...), but now you unscrew the top cap, there is more this tiny screw (and its tiny seal) not to lose, it is a progress and time saving.
You have all the time to master it because at this price, you do not risk much. One thing is also very likely: if you had to opt for you to get rid of it, it will not fail to amateurs to off you.
