If Dovpo is not the best known brand of the middle empire, it is undoubtedly one of the most passionate. The manufacturer has been bringing out nuggets for us for several years now according to the proven house triptych: reliability, contained price, performance.

Propelled on the release of objects of passion generally devolved to confirmed or expert vapers, the brand has chosen to ignore the growing niche of pods and other materials for beginners, preferring to focus on its core target. Thus, we cannot speak of Dovpo as a generalist brand but rather a manufacturer of the niche market, which consists in providing advanced, well-finished and technological devices.

It is always in this same perspective that the Themis comes out, a double battery mod with a beautiful aesthetic execution and strong technical markers. 220 W of maximum power, an efficient chipset carrying many vape modules: variable power, variable voltage, temperature control in nickel, titanium and stainless steel and some icing on the cake that we will see below.

The object is available in four colors, see below, including a very fashionable Tiffany Blue at the moment and particularly becoming.

The price is the first good surprise, and it won't be the only one, since the item is sold for €49.90 in good shops.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

From a strictly aesthetic point of view, the Themis is more Brad Pitt than Gérard Depardieu. Drawing heavily on the achievements of dotMod, Dovpo offers us a very sexy parallelepipedic form factor, quite angular, whose design evokes a perceived quality well above its contained price.

The corners are not sharp, they benefit from a slight chamfer which makes the grip quite comfortable.

This comfort is also accentuated by the relatively small size of the device. Small for a double battery box of course. We are far, very far, from the standards that we have known before and even some mono battery boxes could be ashamed of the comparison. The weight is to match. 206 grams with the two batteries, this is also a guarantee of vape comfort.

The topography is specific, again inspired by dotMod. The buttons and the screen are indeed not on the edge but on one of the panels of the box, on the front. For those who prefer to vape with the trigger or even with the thumb, as is my case, it will take a little time to get used to it. But at the cost of a few adjustments that your hand will make without you realizing it, we discover easy and fairly ergonomic handling.

The switch, in golden type plastic, is perfect for support. No extraneous noise, clicky as it should be, it behaves like an excellent vaping companion. The [+/-] interface button consists of a single surface, the top of which will be pressed for [+] and the bottom for [-]. Classic but effective.

The screen is in color and benefits from TFT technology. The characters are clean, readable, although the size of some information is a bit small.

The Themis is equipped with two removable side panels. That of the facade devoted to the buttons and the screen is removed and reveals a black plastic material engraved in a steampunk spirit. We can be surprised by the presence of such a “hidden beauty” or see in it, perhaps, the future availability of transparent personalized panels.

The second panel provides access to the battery cradle. Very functional, well calibrated at the waist, it will accommodate your two 18650 batteries in the greatest comfort, holding them in place with a fabric strap. The positioning of the positive and negative poles being facilitated by the presence of foolproof (+) and (-) in the cavities. Alas, they are black on a black background. A little color or a larger size would have been a plus.

More surprisingly, the USB-C socket for recharging the batteries is located in the cradle. One might find this incongruous but I think it is a real positive point. Indeed, as you are often told, it is better, to ensure a correct longevity for your batteries, to use an external charger for recharging. From then on, we understand that the possibility of recharging by USB-C is only to be used in the event of travel or emergency. Which really validates Dovpo's choice. The socket is mechanically protected from dust, it is not there to be used every day but offers you the possibility of a quick recharge in case of urgent need.

The rest is fairly conventional. 510 brass connection located in the center of the top cap, on spring. Slightly prominent stainless steel plate to avoid scratches on the body. Possibility of placing an atomizer of 26 mm maximum.

The finish calls for no particular comment. Both the materials chosen, such as aluminum for the chassis and the body, as well as the assembly, as well as the anodization, we are largely on a mod of a higher segment. And this is the number one quality of the Themis: it offers a lot for a really contained price.

The functionalities are divided into two main parts.

First of all, there are the classic functions that you would expect to find on a high-end mod. Variable power adjustable from 5 to 220 W in steps of 0.5 W, variable voltage adjustable from 1 to 8 V in steps of 0.1 V, full temperature control allowing adjustment between 93° C and 315 ° C in steps of 5 °. We can use to do this nickel, titanium, which I do not recommend, or stainless steel. You won't find fine tuning here with the possible implementation of exotic resistive wires. But between us, who uses the temperature control?

Then there are the clever functions, almost anecdotal but which have very subtle advantages. For example, when you are in the sub-menu, you see the last number selected appear in each category. The power selected in the Power submenu, the voltage selected in the Voltage submenu, the temperature control and so on. It's smart and practical because you always know, at this level of the tree structure, where you are in your settings. And that also applies to the adjustable brightness!

You will also find a statistics module that will inform you about the number of puffs counted as well as the vaping time. And a module to change the color of the screen. A little sketchy, this one will give you the choice between red and green. Point.

To access the sub-menu, simply click three times on the switch. You will navigate easily afterwards with the [+/-] button and confirm your choices with the switch button. Simple, square, effective.

Without being bare, the Themis offers a simplicity of good taste that works wonders in handling.

The screen, meanwhile, displays important data: battery charge, power (or voltage or temperature depending on your choice), current vape voltage, value of the auto-detected resistance, time of each puff and number of puffs . It is elegant, simple and a bit too small.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging is sober but complete as it is a box. The device itself, still happy. A USB / USB-C charging cable, it can be useful and the manual who speaks fluent English and that's it. However, it remains complete despite everything and goes around the owner based on clear diagrams.

Everything arrives in a good quality thermoformed foam cradle, ensuring protected transport, surrounded by a black cardboard box. It's simple and elegant, with no frills.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

It is in use that the Themis and its engineering choices take on their full meaning. Usable daily, disconcertingly easy, it delivers a very pure signal, with negligible latency. And in all modes.

After the usual little time to get used to the device, the ergonomics become obvious, as if it had been used for a long time. And the grip quickly becomes pleasant. Even paired with atomizers requiring real signal quality, such as the Taïfun GT4 S that I installed on it, the box behaves wonderfully. It does not heat up, is never recalcitrant and you do not need a doctorate in quantum mechanics to use it!

At less “legal” powers or voltages, with a very demanding large dripper for example, there is no pumping or voltage compression effect. The box sends whatever power is asked of it.

The protections are numerous and ensure a relaxing and risk-free use:

Dovpo still signs a nice box with the Themis. The brand never stops offering practical, reliable and beautiful tools. Far from the tormented wanderings of certain manufacturers in terms of design, the brand bases its design on the classic and makes the eyes dream.

The rest speaks for itself because the quality/price ratio bury all competition. Finishing, elegance, simplicity, performance, everything is there for a box that should largely win the support of those who like to vape different.
