Council Of Vapor is a manufacturer straddling the Middle Kingdom and the New World, one foot in the US, another in China. It is above all very atypical in the sense that it often offers vape objects that do not look like others and do not copy the references of the genre, an interesting paradox at this moment where a mod tends to look like another like a sheep. to another sheep.
The brand also displays a very ... communicative warmth on its site and, although I am aware that this act will doom me to the Facebook gemonies of a few asexual specimens, I cannot resist the temptation to give you an image:

The Range is a dual battery pack, with 240W and an insolent pistol grip. It is sold around 74.90 €, median price for the category and has personal characteristics that make it an interesting box for more than one reason.

The first shock is visual.
Indeed, here we have a box that is not really anymore since it is fairly faithfully inspired by handgun butts to ensure the seduction part. It is successful and, even if it has already been done before, it is pleasant to find a form factor different from the manga-like of the moment. In addition, three colors are available and quite radically change the situation at the aesthetic level.
The second shock is tactile.
What lightness! The alloy used for the body of the Range hits the mark by offering a mod whose weight has been limited by the use of magnesium in combination with aluminum. Thus, an object is obtained which can be produced by molding and which borrows from magnesium its very low density, solidity and rigidity. Even if the machining of such an alloy is not without presenting certain difficulties, we are here in front of a very conclusive and perfectly finished result.
The combination of form-factor and material gives a very pleasant grip. The shape of the device literally follows that of the palm and a rubber insert even nestles in the angle of the thumb for improved touch and obvious grip. The index has no difficulty, therefore, to find the red switch in the form of a trigger that will be used to vape. The measured weight does not cause any discomfort and the movements of the hand are very natural, including when you are not vaping.
The switch, since we are talking about it, is articulated and it is therefore its lower part that ensures contact. A good idea which passes with mention the course of the concept by being very pleasant to handle, whether with the tip of the finger or even the stomach of the phalanges. Reactive, it still imposes an understanding of its kinetics. Indeed, its stroke is rather long and you can press it without activating the firing. It is in the last third of the movement that the saving click takes place and triggers the process, like the trigger of a weapon. After a few minutes the marks are found and it is even difficult to get back to a normal system.
The interface buttons are located on one side, adjacent to the screen. Assuming that when an adjustment is made, we do not spend the day undoing it, the manufacturer has chosen this placement so that the gripping fingers do not inadvertently click on the [+] and [-] buttons. Thus, for a right-handed person, the screen appears all the time in the open, the interface buttons too. For a left-handed person, it is a little less obvious since all this part is then in the palm of the hand, invisible. However, thanks to a good ergonomic effort, there is no risk of accidentally pressing the [+] or the [-]. Indeed, the reception surface being flat, it takes advantage of the curvature of the palm to protect access.
The screen itself is very clear and you can adjust the contrast. It displays a large amount of information but everything remains very readable: power or temperature, a gauge for each battery, the resistance value, the output intensity, the number of puffs since a resettable date, the mode used for signal smoothing, output voltage, and lastly your puff time. As the icing on the connection, the screen saver gives the time. Nothing to say, it's complete!
The 510 connection, provided with air inlets for the rare atomizers that take their airflow through the connection, is effective. However, it lacks a little width, especially compared to the 29mm usable top-cap. A wider frame would undoubtedly have provided a better visual for the flush attitude and a more suitable support. However, except for this slight detail more cosmetic than mechanical, we have a valid connection, spring-loaded and with an irreproachable screw thread.
The bottom-cap therefore serves as a cover for the introduction of batteries, as is often the case. Articulated on a hinge, it clips and unclips easily and has the good taste to stay in place once clipped. The introduction of batteries, marked by the eternal + and - signs, poses no problem and the silos can even accommodate somewhat “fat” batteries (MXJo for example) or even re-wrapped batteries.
In the balance of this chapter, we have a light mod, well built and whose shape is ergonomic. A first step towards success?

From 5 to 240W in steps of 1W. Thanks in passing to the engineer (certainly vapoteur) who finally understood that we were tired of waiting two hours for the hundredths of a watt to pass under our bovine gaze. There, it is effective.
You will also have the possibility of adjusting the pre-heat to boost a slightly diesel assembly or, on the contrary, to calm the ardor of a very reactive assembly. It comes in POWERFUL (that's a sauce!), STANDARD (that's normal!), SOFT (that's cool!) Or DIY. This last mode therefore allows you to twist the signal according to your desires so as to have the vape rendering that suits you best. You will have 10 modifiable levels to do this. To change the level, we switch. To adjust each level, the [+] and [-] buttons. To exit the mode, just leave the switch pressed for two or three seconds.
From 100 to 315 ° C for temperature control in 5 ° steps. You can use SS, NI or TI, implemented natively. But we do not stop there since a TCR mode exists and gives us the possibility of implementing more precisely the resistive used as soon as we know the heating coefficient (found almost everywhere on the net ). In addition, here is the return of the DIY mode which therefore allows, like that of the variable power mode, to sculpt your puff in temperature, please!

To enter the menus, five clicks will be necessary. There, I will not draw you the complete map of the navigation, but just know that it is very intuitive and not tricky, even if the features are very numerous: resetting to factory settings, adjusting the contrast of the screen, chipset upgrade, clock setting, resetting the puff counter, so on and the best. The in-house engineers have worked perfectly because, not only does the Range offer a lot for its price but, in addition, the handling remains very intuitive and some very famous founders could even take the seed…. (no, I will not give a name, yi hee hee hee….)
In terms of protections, this is the big overflow: Short circuits, detection of resistances less than 0.06Ω, overheating of the chipset, 10 second cut-off and a module which checks whether the installed batteries are damaged. Suffice to say that security was not the poor relation of the affair. You can vape safely with the Range!

A box, a USB / micro USB cable and a very complete manual in French. Decently, it seems difficult to ask for more. Especially when the packaging displays such quality! Far be it for me to be ecstatic over a cardboard box, but here Council Of Vapor has made a great effort that should be commended.
From an aesthetic angle as well as practical, the packaging is irreproachable. No, that's not enough so I'll say it like this: I-RRE-PRO-CHA-BLE! That's it, it will better the minds and it will do justice to the beauty of the packaging.

Ok but how do you do when you have a crush on a mod, sir siouplait? Because for me, it is indeed the case and I feel the objectivity leaving me as the sea recedes… Okay, okay, don't knock, I will try to stay calm, serene, flexible, feline and cold.
In use, the Range shows no signs of weakness. Whatever ato you pair on it, it will obediently send out the power you ask for, without showing any signs of weakness or overheating.
The signal, totally tilting according to your will, is a model of its kind and the rendering of vape is precise while remaining compact and dense. With a dripper crazy, he develops without complaining the power claimed and is very responsive, without latency, including climbing in the towers.
Equipped with a Green Start clearomiser (a killer!) At 17W, it knows how to hug and accompany an MTL vape with an autonomy perfectly managed by the chipset.
The multiplication of the possibilities for customizing the signal means that we quickly get to master the mod and above all bend it to any type of exercise. To love can mean “to appreciate the presence”. In this case, I like this mod.

To be honest, we are between us after all, I love the Range! It has become my daily mod and I carry it everywhere with me. I only regret one thing is that it is black, I would have preferred it in the camo version. But basta, it's so ergonomic, so good in hand, so powerful and malleable that it seems grafted to my arm like the chainsaw on Ash's arm (cinematographic reference for amateurs - editor's note).
So if you want a purely subjective opinion: it's a pu… n mod !!!! Do not hesitate, if its particular shape makes you eye, test it, buy it, even steal it, it can only please you!
