The operating principles of the OBS Engine are now known. Outsmarting the dire prognosis of its detractors, this atypical atomizer had seduced by its reliability in operation, its ability to generate strong cloud storms without forgetting to be tasty and the fact of not causing leaks thanks to its airflow taken by the top of the ato.
Its little brother is now on the market with identical characteristics. Simply, instead of the 25mm of its predecessor, we end up with a “thinner” diameter, if I may say so, of 23mm even if the height remains the same. It is undoubtedly still big enough not to deserve the qualifier of mini but hey, let's not go looking for noon to two o'clock, it is smaller, period.
For the rest, we are therefore on the same commercial and functional bases: a very user-friendly price, an assumed penchant for the big vape and the different techniques developed by OBS to allow a vape not upset by cascades of escaping juice. airholes as well as use without welding gloves thanks to a controlled temperature.

Aesthetically, the ato is a strike! Even more beautiful than its ancestor thanks to its thin waist, it defines new design codes and inevitably appeals to the eye. Engravings and marked grooves enamel its body to reduce its massiveness.
Of course, autonomy changes. Instead of the initial 5.2ml, we end up with 3.5ml (rather 3.2ml in practical use) which could seem comfortable on a cushy atomizer but which will be just for the prescribed use. And that's almost good because the filling is one of the easiest and best thought out. Indeed, just under the airflow ring, the “cover” is easily raised and reveals a gaping entry for the insertion of syringe, pipette or other droppers without any obstacle getting in the way. Once the tank has been fed, just lower this ring and you're done. Nothing's easier.
The finish of the object is excellent and is not even in this price segment where few atomizers dare to set foot. The threads are comfortable, the joints efficient and the rotating rings turn without knowing the need for a crowbar. Of course, we find better in metal quality or in machining but for five times more expensive. Here, the emphasis is on the quality / price ratio and it is difficult to compete. Having myself a first name Engine from the start, I can assure you that reliability over time is not a concern.
Available in steel or black, the Engine Mini chose food grade steel for its construction and a pyrex tank. The latter is not really protected because the metal hoops are inside and not outside the fragile material. Be careful with falls, even if the manufacturer provides a spare pyrex.

We have a fairly large work surface that is very easy to work with. Indeed, the included velocity type bridge facilitates the assemblies, even complex ones, because the insertion holes of the tabs are large enough to accommodate the multi-strand wires. Even if the surface area is smaller than that of its big brother, the space remains large enough to easily mount successfully.
The installation of the capillary is also very simple. The plate being suspended above a swimming pool supplied by the tank, it suffices to pass the cotton in the coil and to bend the tips to insert them into the holes provided for this purpose. It is enough just not to tamp down to avoid the “plug” effect and everything will go well.
The atomizer accommodates a double-coil and only this configuration. Also the airflow has been dimensioned in this direction. We have three openings of 7x2mm each, whose flow is adjustable, located under the drip-tip. This system therefore makes it possible to avoid any liquid leakage because the tank / tray unit remains completely sealed. Inside, a particularly well thought-out circuit conveys the air under the resistances through a double wall in the chimney. Thus, the flow is fluid and you can regulate it both by the obturation of the airholes and the way you vape.
The cooling of the Engine Mini is also remarkable. The evaporation chamber being isolated on all sides by the liquid (on the vertical walls but also at the bottom), there is naturally good heat dissipation. In addition, the fact of having this chimney made up of two interlocking internal tubes allows the air entering through the peripheral duct to cool the vapor leaving the central duct. And it works wonderfully, neither the body of the atomizer, nor the drip-tip become hot, even after a session of imitation of a locomotive. At most, the ato becomes lukewarm, meaning that another has already turned red ...

Despite its shape which suggests proprietary dimensions, the drip-tip is based on a normal 510 stud. What could pass for an anomaly is however entirely part of the process of the atomizer because the narrowness of the hole allows a “turbo” effect both in the introduction of air and in the inhalation of the vapor.
Very pleasant in the mouth and perfectly suited to the Engine, this drip-tip shows no weakness, including in its 510 base, firmly riveted to the top-cap by two effective seals.

Let's not forget the price of the Engine Mini, which is below the 30 € mark. In view of this, we have a very generous packaging which offers us:
- The atomizer itself (I know it is superfluous to specify it each time but it makes me laugh ... 😉)
- A spare pyrex tank
- A screwdriver BTR convenient enough to screw / unscrew the studs.
- A sachet containing a cotton pad
- A bag of parts containing: spare seals, spare screws and two twisted coils.
For the price, difficult to ask for more! The instructions are provided in English but perfectly understandable for an anglophobe because precise photos detail the entire process of filling or editing.
Appreciations in use

Once the assembly and filling done, place to pleasure!
The Engine swallows all possible liquids, no viscosity scares it and it behaves the same with a traditional 50/50 as with a 100% VG. The airflow adjustment is a pure joy of simplicity and practicality. I will not mention further the filling we have already spoken about but it is clear that I have never had easier on my hands!
When it comes to vaping, it's an almost perfect mix between an abundance of vapor and flavors. There are RDTAs that are more generous in vapor, but the flavors are less. Likewise, there are some more precise in taste but here, it is the vapor which is less. The Engine Mini achieves a very seductive synthesis that allows the best of both worlds to be combined without being too caricature, in one way or another. It is even tastier than its big brother, no doubt thanks to a smaller evaporation chamber.
When the power is well regulated and with an adequate assembly, no annoyance comes to hinder the vape. Leaks, dry-hits, all of this is a thing of the past and the atomizer behaves in a loyal manner, ensuring the stability of the vape rendering over time.
The only downside, unfortunately inherent in the category, is consumption to match. It is not the Engine that will save you money in terms of juice.

A Top Ato for the Engine Mini! This is the reward for the real research work of the engineers at OBS. Far from “we do the same as the others and it will bankrupt”, the Chinese manufacturer has innovated with this product which uses the codes laid down by its 25mm big brother to transpose them into smaller dimensions.
Different calibers therefore but identical vape, textured, tasty and generous, which will seduce you, I guarantee it, by its sense of synthesis and its specific character.
A rebuildable quality that has combined practical sense, quality of rendering and reduced price. We want more!
