Innokin has long been one of the flagship brands of vape, especially with its tubular electro mods. It has lost ground in the confirmed vaping market with the box movement even though its VTR was one of its ancestors. The manufacturer did not perfectly negotiate this shift, always lagging behind its competitors and products that are sometimes a little “timid”…
Innokin is attempting a winning comeback with a rebuildable MTL atomizer (Mouth To Lung, French indirect vape).
To achieve this, the Chinese brand has offered the services of two international stars of the vape: Phil Bussardo and Dimitris Agrafiotis. We were able to see them both at the Vapexpo in September on the Innokin stand to promote them.
Our two sacred monsters have chosen to offer us an atomizer designed to accommodate a single coil, made for indirect vaping at very reasonable power. A wise choice because lovers of quiet vape are not really spoiled at the moment with the fashion of ultra-air.
Thank God, Innokin does not charge us for the intelligence provided by these two world experts, the price remains very reasonable, all that remains is to find out what they have concocted for us.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
The Arès adopts a very sober style, a simple design very refined, without embellishment. Only small peculiarity, his room of atomization finds its place in the middle of the tank, like a mushroom with its domed bell.
With its 24 mm diameter and height 42 mm, our atomizer adopts contained dimensions, his tank can still ship 4 ml of liquid.
The top-cap is sloped a bit like a Chinese hat, it slides on two rails to reveal a correct size fill hole that will be compatible with most vial tips.
The bell is dependent on the top-cap, it covers a single coil assembly plate equipped with a post system which seems technically very affordable. In the center, the air inlet looks like a small shower head with ten small holes distributed in a circular fashion.
To supply this diffuser, we find at the base an airflow adjustment ring which has the choice of a large slot allowing the use of the four airhole formats simultaneously, there is also a simple hole which is intended to show only one format
The materials used are of good quality considering the tariff class of the product, the quality of manufacture is good, everything is well adjusted.
No fault in taste or design, everything seems well thought out and I admit that I am curious to test this atomizer which seems promising for the rendering of flavors with its dome bell and its special airflow system.

The Arès having been designed in collaboration with two real “Popes of the vape”, it is normal that it has everything it needs.
First essential: filling from the top. The technical choice fell on a sliding top-cap system. The top of the atomizer slides on two rails, a small engraved arrow tells you in which direction to push it. When the operation is done, a trapezoidal shaped hole slightly curved appears.
Then, our two friends offer us a bell-type atomization chamber. It is placed in the center of the tank. Under the dome (the flavors should be there in view of this shape), there is a post monocoil which leaves no questions about how we install the resistive. Two “columns” end with small U, in which we block our wire with simple screws. The system is easy to learn and efficient. In the central position, the arrival of the airflow is equipped with a diffuser to improve the repair of the air on the coil.
The circle formed by the base is interrupted by two semicircles, intended to accommodate the ends of your cotton wick.
The pyrex tank has a capacity of 4 ml, it represents a great capacity, especially for a MTL atomizer.
There is also an airflow adjustment ring which offers many possibilities.
The Arès has everything you need, where you need it. It is simple but well designed. It brings together a set of known technical solutions, but slightly revised.

In the pack, you will find two different delrin drip-tips. Both adopt the standard 510. One is a straight cylinder, of a rather small diameter in view of the new standard 810. The second of the round spout type and also of a contained diameter.
They are both perfectly adapted to the indirect vape.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
Our Arès is presented in an elegant white box. On the top, a simple photo of the atomizer. On two opposite sides, we find the autographs of the two famous sponsors of this atomizer.
On the back, the contents of the box and the legal notices.
The box opens like a match box using a small fabric tab. The compartment thus taken out of its sheath, we come across a stylized representation of the initials of “Dimitri and Phil” (a bit too much), it adorns the top of the box lid. When we lift it, we discover this:
There, it starts to do a bit much 😉. In the box, our atomizer is accompanied by a smoked spare tank, colored gaskets, coils, cable, cotton, finally everything ... We also find two templates for the realization of your coils: one for tight coil signed Phil and the other to make classic spaced coils signed Dimitri.
A pictorial notice accompanies our Ares, but no French in sight.
A nice presentation even if I find that there is a little a lot of Phil and Dimitri… We understand that the brand wanted to pay tribute to the two designers but there, it turns a little to commercial harassment… 😎

Here again, the experience of our friends spoke: they worked together to offer us an atomizer that is easy to operate and to live with.
The editing is no problem, the posts are simple to coile and cotton finds its place easily.
The filling is done easily from the top, thanks to a system already seen in others but effective and simple.
The four milliliters of the tank represent a good autonomy, especially considering the vape proposed by our atomizer.
The airflow is precise and explicit. The diffuser and the bell are two real flavor concentrators, this is one of the strong points of this new Innokin product.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
I think I am not mistaken if I say that Innokin has never been unanimous thanks to an atomizer. That could well change, because by asking Bussardo and Agrafiotis to help them design the Ares, the Chinese firm has put all the chances on its side to release a reference atomizer.
The Arès does not appear as a revolutionary atomizer but rather as a set of proven technical solutions skillfully brought together in this MTL type RTA (indirect vape).
I do not find any major fault with this product, especially since the price is very affordable. He brings us brilliantly back to this “original”, reasonable and tasty vape. No doubt, it's a Top Ato.
