Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Avocado, Griffin, Tsunami…. Geekvape seems to chain the bestsellers in a single line without tiring a minute. The Chinese manufacturer specializing in atos was not going to stop there and continues, with metronomic regularity, to offer us new wonders of steam engines.

Today, it is the Medusa which arrives on our bench for a decortication in order. So, RTA, RDTA, SNCF or large tank dripper? Everything will depend on your appreciation but it looks like a dripper, it works like a dripper and it is used like a dripper except that you can stick to it for 3ml of liquid! On paper, that's pretty good news. We will see if, in fact, it is also.

Offered at a price of around € 29, we can't complain that Geekvape is making our pockets. Indeed, if the price is more similar to that of a mid-range clearomizer, the presentation of the product and its appearance predestines it for greater adventures! A good surprise therefore for dripper-addicts and collectors! The Medusa is available in raw or black steel.

Come on, we take out the calipers, the cotton, the thread and a dose of courage and presto, check all these weapons by hand.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

With its 25mm diameter, the Medusa is massive and displays a fairly impressive perceived quality at this level of the range. Made entirely of steel, it presents a baroque aesthetic, alternating geometric engravings on the top-cap to facilitate gripping and an engraved design in the shape of a frieze on the base. It is a beautiful object that provokes the desire for possession.

There are three very distinct parts there. At the top, we have a top-cap which consists of a piece of steel surmounted by a drip-tip in Ultem, this polymer resin that displays an insolent resistance to heat. The drip-tip is attached to a plate of the same material which fits into the steel, the whole being supposed to reduce the temperature level at the level of the lips. The top-cap can be turned to adjust the airflow.

In the center, we discover a tube, still steel, whose role is to surround the atomization chamber. It has a simple engraving with the name of the product and a triangle pointing downwards which will be important in the assembly of the parts since it will indicate to you where to position the tube to clip it on the base. It also accommodates four airholes, grouped in pairs at the antipodes of the body, in order to ensure a good flow of air towards the resistors.

At the bottom, there is the base. Its height is more than a third of the general size. It is harmoniously engraved and accommodates within it a tray and a low bowl. Looking closely, we see two markers: an open padlock and a closed padlock which will serve as guides, with the famous triangle I mentioned above, to remove or fix the central tube.

The plateau is of the classic velocity type, and rests on an X shape so that the four ends of your capillaries can be plunged into the deep tank at the bottom of the device. On both gantries, we notice holes of good size to accommodate resistive son of high caliber or complex. The screws used to tighten the legs are made of 316L steel which has been hardened by cold, which corroborates their bluish appearance, in order to be able to withstand the different manipulations better over time.

The plateau is quite large, it is pleasant to work and likely to accept large montages.

The 510 connection is easy to screw, the pitch being easily and has a positive pin in gold-plated brass to avoid corrosion and therefore possible conductivity problems over time. There too, Geekvape did not butt.

The finish is very correct for the price. The manufacturer spared neither the quality nor the quantity of materials. It's a good job, a beautiful execution that gives the user confidence.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The principle of use is simple and identical to any dripper. You create your double coils, position them on the velocity device, you pass your capillary, each end of which will run aground at the bottom of the tank. Where everything changes, it is in the capacity of 3ml that this tank gives you and therefore the assurance of being able to vape for a while without recharging.

The airflow is well thought out, easily adjustable by turning the top-cap and pours a torrent of air on the resistors. It's up to you to position them well so that the air also benefits below the coils in order to collect a good vapor / flavor ratio.

The assembly is easy. As I told you previously, any resistive wire can be considered because the posts have been drilled to accommodate the most important sections. You can really feel the quality of the screws, in particular the clamping screws themselves which never hesitate to accept the BTR impression. Here, no feeling of “letting go” when you squeeze hard. The screws are strong and take the shock.

The 510 connection is not adjustable but any mod with a spring pin, a large majority at present, will gladly overcome this deficiency.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Type of drip-tip attachment: Owner but passage to 510 through a supplied adapter
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Short with heat evacuation function
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

Geekvape has chosen for the Medusa an innovative drip-tip since it is made in Ultem and attached to a plate which covers the top-cap. Pleasant in the mouth and above all communicating very little heat from the body of the atomizer, it also has the particularity of being able to accommodate a 510 drip-tip, placed in its center. Be careful however, if you put a steel drip-tip, you will cancel the heat evacuation capacity of the Ultem. A delrin drip-tip seems to me therefore more judicious.

Otherwise, used as is, the native drip-tip seems very short and therefore brings your lips closer to the body, which suggests violent sensations of heat. Well, it is not, the ultem tray effectively fulfills its function and your mouth will not have to suffer a thousand ailments due to the heat.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

Presented in a conventional plastic box, the Medusa arrives with a triple recess screwdriver (two BTRs and a flat screwdriver) as well as a spare bag including a set of gaskets and spare screws.

No instructions, alas, that's where the bone is ...

Appreciations in use

  • Easy to transport with the mod of the test configuration: Nothing helps, requires a shoulder bag
  • Disassembly and cleaning facilities: Easy, even standing in the street, with a simple tissue paper
  • Filling facilities: Super simple, even blind in the dark!
  • Easy to change resistors: Easy but requires a workspace to lose nothing
  • Is it possible to use this product throughout the day with several vials of EJuice? Yes perfectly
  • Was there leak after one day of use? No
  • In the event of leaks during the tests, descriptions of the situations in which they occur:

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

We have already seen that editing is easy and intuitive, velocity technology has already proven itself in the field.

The assembly and disassembly of the parts is also very simple and you can fill your atomizer either by unscrewing the central tube from the base to access the tank directly, or by dripping drops directly through the drip-tip. Gravity being what it is, it will eventually reach the tank ... Be careful not to be too zealous in this case, it is better not to flood the plateau otherwise beware of projections.

The airflow is impressive and the rendering is very airy. It also contributes to good heat dissipation. The atomizer is thus cooled sufficiently so as not to become a furnace, even at high power. I pushed around 100W for an assembly in 0.24Ω without managing to heat the machine excessively. It's a safe bet that a lower assembly and a higher power would have a fairly similar result in terms of body heating.

The rendering of flavors is very convincing and brings the Medusa even closer to a good “normal” dripper. The liquids are reproduced with fidelity, we feel a fairly good taste precision and the vape is pleasant and dense.

In terms of steam, we are on “very heavy”. The Medusa is not stingy, to say the least, and is positioned as a cloud-chaser as much as a flavor-chaser.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

The Medusa is a good product. We also find a certain homogeneity of rendering with its predecessors even if the principles differ.

A true deep-tank dripper, it provides quite an unprecedented autonomy and will allow you to vape “for a long time” at high power by releasing impressive clouds while not ignoring the flavors, precise and round. Consumption goes with it, of course… 😉

Made to work with liquids charged with VG, the Medusa does not disappoint and ensures a pleasant and dense vape, entirely related to its purpose. While proposing a mythological aesthetic that befits his name.

A positive balance for a very good cheap product.
