What's new at Geek Vape, after their three creations? Taking advantage of the ever-bigger wave, the Griffin RTA, which was revised for enlargement, it's the Avocado's turn to switch to 24 mm. A capacity of 5 ml announced, perfect you say to me, in view of our excessive consumption of e-liquid. Does it actually contain them? I must say that some improvements, and not the least, have been made !!! Let's see all of this below.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
Having had both versions in my hands, the Avocado 24mm seems better finished to me than its little brother. None of the joints force too much when removing the top-cap. The stud screws do more than correctly what they are intended for. The end of travel of the screws will not cut the kanthal or a clapton when tightening, because the end of it is flat, and the stud is too.
The reducer to switch from single coil to double, also holds better in place. Unlike the 22 mm, it can only be put on one side, no inversion possible.
With no less than three PEEK insulators, your Avocado will not heat up. One is located under the positive pad, another at the screw and pad junction, and finally 1 at the pin.
The airflow adjustment ring is a little too loose for my taste, it moves easily. It's a bit of a shame, but the efficiency in use of the system excuses it.
A large shadow on the board for the capacity, 5 ml announced but actually contains 3 ml double coil, and 4 ml empty.

The big defect of the 22 mm has been corrected on this version, in addition to being in gold plated, the positive pin is adjustable. Yes yes you read that right !!!
The other very good improvement is the small filling hatch, when it is mounted in double coil, the filling becomes childish. Most pipettes or dropper pass without difficulty in the two orifices (do not think badly placed eh 😉) provided for this purpose.
To adjust the airflow, nothing could be simpler, you just need to rotate the top-cap to adjust it. This turns a little too easily, suddenly, it can be out of order without wanting to.
The airflow, when you will be in single coil, has been kept identical to the 22 mm. That is to say, the ceramic reducer is also drilled, in order to make maximum use of the resistance of a good air supply.
One would have thought that the holes for plunging the cotton would have been bigger, but no, they kept them as they are. It is enough, for the part of the cotton which plunges, to cut it in point, in order not to slow down the capillarity of this one. Personally I use Native Wick cotton intended for RDA, it is perfect for this style of assembly.

As with its predecessor, the Avocado 24mm will be delivered with two drip-tips. A large one in Delrin, and a smaller one with a classic 510 connection, adaptable via the reducer provided. I have a weakness for the wide Delrin, because it is more comfortable, it does not heat up, and because of its opening I feel the flavors better.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
The packaging has also been changed. It will also be delivered to you in an enlarged plastic box. The RDTA is visible in the box, and all the tooling part and its multitude of “spare parts” and hidden under the small cardboard window.
As an Allen key, a new small T-shaped tool takes place. On the right and left, there are two diameters for the keys and in the middle a small cruciform recess.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
For the use of this RDTA, it is better to have a mod 24mm in diameter or minimum thickness to be flush. Personally I use it on a Hexohm, but no need for such a box, an rx 200 will do just as well.
Assembly level for the double coil, I took clapton Ni80 in Ø0,40 claptonné with kanthal Ø0.16 for a value of 0,3 ohm. A very good restitution of flavors and an abundant vapor which goes hand in hand with an excessive consumption of liquid.
In single coil, kanthal in Ø0,5, for a resistance of 0,5 ohm. A little less flavor and vapor, but since there is less heating and the power is not too high, there is less consumption of liquid. The airflow adjustment is much more sensitive than its predecessor, and does not whistle in any case.
When placing the cotton, be careful not to place it under the filling of the liquid, otherwise you will realize it quickly, because you will have liquid everywhere.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
In terms of vapor and flavor, we are essentially identical to their little brother. But the two big improvements made make it much better finished. Due to having an adjustable pin, it is happiness because it makes it compatible with any type of mod on the market.
The small hatch for filling and magic especially when we are in double coil. No more needle bottle and hello dropper or thick tip depending on the packaging of the liquid. A round and creamy vapor on the palate, dense on the exhale, and an explosion of flavors, wow !!!!!! Too bad there is only 3 ml of capacity in double coil, for once, it is to take the consumers for pigeons !!!! That won't stop me from keeping it for quite a while.
