A tsunami of puffs has invaded the planet Vape. Admittedly offering simplified access for smokers, controversies unfortunately arise over their use, whether for misuse by non-targeted populations (high school students, college students, non-smokers) or for the heavy ecological cost of a battery intended for be discarded after one use. Some manufacturers have therefore looked into the future of the vape by offering innovative concepts, which are just as easy to access but more durable over time.

We know well Cuts Ice. The manufacturer-laboratory which presides over the destinies of T Juice has long braided laurel wreaths in the British vape and imposed several standards in the world production of liquids.

Today, the brand, very committed to smoking cessation, offers us a credible alternative to puffs, both in terms of price and practicality. This alternative is called PVRE and that's what we're going to break down today.

The idea, above all.

And the concept is simple.

Basically, there are roughly three different types of vaping systems: 

Closed systems, puffs or pre-filled pods, which offer an easy-to-use all-in-one. When the puff or pre-filled cartridge reaches the end of its life of about a day, it is thrown away and another is taken.

• Advantage: there is no technical knowledge to have, you just have to know how to tear a blister in the first case or know how to put a cap back on a pen in the other and off you go!
• Disadvantage: the cost price in daily use. Including in the case of pre-filled pods.

Semi-open systems offer pods, sometimes with more advanced functions, and a more sustainable concept. The battery recharges, like a pre-filled pod but so does the cartridge. This means that you can easily fill the tank and enjoy all the longevity of the cartridge/coil combo without throwing away almost new equipment.

• Advantage: the cost price drops.
• Disadvantage: this type of material involves taking a little interest in vaping, choosing a compatible liquid and sometimes learning some technical data.

Open systems. These are the “advanced” pods, the box + atomizer combos and other more advanced equipment. They present advanced functionalities but some can divert from the path of the clouds a smoker who is more in a hurry to finish than to learn and require time for information and adaptation.

• Advantage: they have no limit in use and have a low cost price.
• Disadvantage: they can be complex to understand.

With PVRE, we discover a new concept, easy, safe and much more ecological which would be positioned between the first category and the second.

We initially buy the battery. It is rechargeable, offers 400 mAh of autonomy and a power of 8 W. The draw is done automatically. The price generally observed is 13.99 €, which is very fair for a 56 g stainless steel battery, rechargeable via USB-C and whose packaging includes a clear and detailed user manual as well as a cable for recharging. .

Of course, there is also the possibility of buying a complete access pack, available around 19.99 € including battery and charging to your liking. Because it is here that the difference is made! 

The refill itself is available around 9 € and includes an empty but refillable cartridge carrying a 1.2 Ω mesh/cotton resistor as well as a 2 ml reservoir. As well as a liquid with the taste of your choice of 10 ml. It's simple, basic. We fill the cartridge with the liquid, we vape. When the cartridge is empty, it is refilled and so on. So the 10 ml of liquid will allow you to do the operation five times before throwing it all away once empty.

The refills are available in three nicotine levels: 5, 10 and 20 mg/ml. Real rates for occasional smokers, addicts or very addicts. We welcome the absence of 0 nicotine levels, useless in the context of smoking cessation. Here, we are here to help, not to flame. 

Liquids based on nicotine salts are all signed T Juice and we therefore expect quality, both in taste and production.

So you're going to answer me: ok but what's the difference with pre-filled pods?

Well, if we don't talk about the ecological impact five times lower, we can focus on the sinews of war: the cost price! 

For a few dollars less...

Let's take the example of a beginner vaper, for whom this material is intended. I vape 2ml of liquid per day. A standard autonomy of 400 mAh is therefore sufficient for me.

If I vape puffs, sold at an average price of 8.90 € for 2 ml of capacity, the calculation is quick to do. It costs me 8.90 € per day, i.e. € 267.00 / month.

If I vape prefilled pods, I do better. I buy the battery once estimating that I need 6 months to pay it off. Average price based on the best-selling model in France: €9.99. Then, I buy something to vape my 2 ml: the pre-filled cartridges. In this case, 8.49 € for 2 cartridges or 4.25 € for a little less than 2 ml. Monthly cost price: €127.50. I include the amortization of my battery: 9.99 €/6 or 1.67 €. Total : € 129.17 / month. 

With PVRE, I buy my battery for €13.99 and amortize it over 6 months. Then I buy refills which therefore last me five days at the price of 9 €. Daily cost price: 1.8 €/day. That is €54/month. I introduce the amortization of the battery for 2.33 €/month. I get a total of: € 56.33 / month.

Well, beyond this economic aspect, symbolic but important, what to remember from PURE?

In use, it is very simple. No power to adjust, no modifiable airflow. Just the charging cable to plug in when the device is empty of energy and that's it. You can also vape plugged in, which is a plus for those who work sedentary.

In terms of filling, since filling there is, it's also simple. Remove the battery cartridge. There is a silicone shutter on the edge of the cartridge. It is raised and the end of the bottle is introduced into the hole thus revealed. We put the cartridge flat and fill it. Nothing fancy. 

There is only one point left to clarify: how does it vape?

Pretty good ! Indeed, the mesh and cotton resistance delivers good flavors. The different liquids are recognizable, nuanced. The draw is MTL, as befits a beginner, but less constrained than on other devices. This means that the volume of steam, even with the reduced power, is substantial for the category. 

In addition, the PVRE adapts very well to your way of vaping. If you take short puffs, you'll get what you ask for. If your puffs are longer, you will enjoy a nice cloud and enhanced flavor. Flawless ! 

All that remains is to make an anthology of flavors in order to explore the possibilities.

Overall, the PVRE system is a great success! 

A very developed material, well built and well finished, which bodes well for good reliability over time. It is backed by a range of tastes to appeal to all types of vapers and a general taste quality above the fray.

We therefore note the relevance of the concept because it is accompanied by a beautiful achievement leaving no room for improvisation. Top Pod for having succeeded in demonstrating that, even in 2022, vaping did not necessarily mean going broke! 

We liked:

• A greener and less expensive concept on a daily basis.
• The hardware device, presenting well and quality.
• The balance between power, draw and resistance.
• Flavors in all taste areas.
• The general quality of tastes.
• The relevance of nicotine levels.

We regret:

• The short length of the charging cable which affects the stationary vape.
• The Original Classic, not bad in itself but unsuitable for power.
• The cartridges hold well but move a little in their housing.
