When one of the most expensive e-liquids on the market hits the test table, it's always a mini event. Indeed, in view of the price, we necessarily expect a lot and with good reason and some bad geniuses whispering in our ears: “Is it worth that?”. At Vapelier, we attach particular importance to the quality / price ratio of a material or a liquid, assuming that it is not because it is not expensive that it is bad and, conversely, that just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's good.
This being said, it must be said that the first contact with this Castle Long begins in good omen. Indeed, the packaging is magnificent. A cardboard box, richly illustrated, serves as a case for the glass bottle, itself of a magnificent design and displaying, in French please, the necessary information for the choice of the cloud consumer. Just there, we can see that we are dealing with an exceptional liquid.

I salute here the hard work of the French distributor, CIGATEC, which had the heavy burden of adapting the Five Pawns to French legislation. And this is real good news because this Castle Long hardly overlooks the safety notices or the composition of the liquid. It is a decisive step towardsa necessary transparency so that all the American juices that we love continue to be distributed in France when the legislator has decided the question ... The laboratory responsible for the production of the juice is not mentioned but it is not necessary since it is indeed Five Pawns who creates and produces these liquids under exemplary health and safety conditions. An excellent point therefore and we hope that the other American manufacturers (or their French distributors) will do the same for the sake of preserving the American offer on the French and European markets.

Once again, the packaging does not suffer from any defect and no complaints can be made. The very typical “Old Fashion” design of an expensive alcohol bottle fits well with the taste AND price claims of the brand. Of course, you will retort that we do not vape a box and you will be right. But at this high price, I still prefer to have the butter and the money of the butter rather than a plastic bottle refurbished in a hurry.

Comments on the taste of the juice
The word that comes to mind when vaping Castle Long for the first time is: “finesse”. Indeed, this liquid is very precise and each of the aromas mentioned in the official presentation finds its place here and is easily discernible. We understand then that the manufacturer made a ruthless choice to find the best aromas to refine his recipe. We smell the bourbon perfectly but in a great sweetness and precision, we are amazed by the realism of the toasted coconut which dominates without overpowering the other flavors. Vanilla is present and accompanies while having the elegance not to cover the whole as is sometimes the case in other e-liquids. And we have an almond finish on the palate, very subtle and light.
The whole thing is a delight. It's sweet but without any excess and the juice is vaped until you are thirsty without any symptoms of nausea appearing. The precision of each aroma remains constant and the taste buds never give thanks. For taste and although any judgment in the matter is inherently subjective, I would say that it is a full box!

I recommend vaping this juice at a mid temperature. Too cold, the flavors tend to freeze a bit. Too hot, you lose the realism of the different components. Try to vape this juice with a good espresso, you will tell me the news!

My mood ticket on this juice
Impressive packaging. Almost total health and safety transparency. Flavor of great finesse and unstoppable recipe. High quality aromas.
Everything would be fine in the best of all possible worlds if this juice was offered at 22 €! But its price generally observed is 28 € or nearly 9 € for 10ml… .. This simple fact can make the sweetest of vapers worried and frustrated. And I include myself in the lot.
If the question asked is whether Castle Long is an exceptional juice, the answer is “YES”. This is not a recipe developed in three minutes on a corner of the table because we feel that many attempts have been made to perfect the mixture until a certain form of taste perfection is obtained.
If the question asked is whether the Castle Long is worth its price, the answer is “I DON'T KNOW”. Indeed, I know and love other e-liquids that are just as tasty and less expensive. But less well presented…. So I have to admit to my shame that I don't know if the Castle Long and by extension the entire Five Pawns range is worth this steep price. Not enough elements of comparisons at this rate.
What I do know, however, is that I will keep my bottle for a few weeks and just make a tank of it from time to time to find this unique feeling. A bit like keeping a good bottle of Cognac preciously to share a moment of intense pleasure with a friend. And this is perhaps where Castle Long finds its true place. A gift to give to someone you appreciate, a solitary pleasure that you hide from others, a special moment that totally disqualifies Castle Long from being an allday. But who positions it quite for what it is: an exceptional e-liquid to vape exceptionally. And in this perspective and only in this perspective, the price then becomes justified.
