Flavor Hit is an Alsatian brand that designs, manufactures and packages its e-liquids in its dedicated buildings (the laboratory and the factory) on the outskirts of Strasbourg since 2014. From the 3 passionate founders of the brand, it is not surprising to find, in addition to a sincere and positive ethic, a constant concern for quality throughout the processes of development, manufacture, and distribution of their potions.

Until January 1st, ^you can purchase the Secret range in 30ml tinted glass bottles, fully equipped. This series of six e-liquids is composed of a unique 70% glycerin base, with the remaining 30% dedicated to PG, flavorings, and optionally, nicotine (0mg/ml is available) at various strengths: 3, 6, and 9mg/ml. The 10ml PET bottles are already available and, starting in 2017, will be the only size authorized for sale to individuals (TPD regulations).

Secret is therefore a series of fruity and greedy premium liquids, 2 genera often associated in the same potion. This is the case of Keys, whose aromatic composition we will see below. The tariff positioning of this juice is a little above the entry level, we will see together that it is quite honest.

If we regret the small size of the font informing the ratio of the base, we must note a perfect control of technical safety obligations of the bottle, and legal information on the labeling.

In a very visible white box, the batch number and a best before date are printed. To complete the picture, we add that the juice does not contain any coloring, additives, water, sugar or alcohol, that the base, whether nicotine-based or not, is of pharmaceutical grade, of vegetable origin and that the flavorings have been freed from elements known to be toxic when inhaled: diacetyl, ambrox and parabens are therefore absent from the preparation.

Comments on the packaging

The aesthetics of the range are both pleasing and compliant with the guidelines imposed by the new regulations. The laminated label and its graphic content are resistant to the fading effects of nicotine e-liquid spills. Structured in three parts, the central section features a purely understated marketing element, depicting, against a "space" background, another world seen through a keyhole, traversing a planet and containing only the essential information: the name of the range, the brand name (much more discreet), and the name of the e-liquid, with the aforementioned design at its center, evoking secrecy, the central theme of this series.

On either side of this presentation are the regulatory information sections consisting of precautions for use, the composition of the juice, visual pictograms and the embossed one, the nicotine level and finally the postal, telephone, and digital contact details of a consumer service.

Here is a juice of premium quality, impeccably conditioned, for a price in phase with the quality displayed, we have to discover the essential, its taste. Let's go.

Comments on the taste of the juice

No scent is immediately apparent upon opening; to detect one, you have to bring your nose close and breathe deeply. I then detected the aroma of a pastry with hints of caramel and cream.

To taste, the caramel turns into a kind of maple syrup, for what I can remember, not having it either at hand when I test this juice. Sweet without excess, I also note a certain bitterness, not of taste, but of sensation on the tongue.

The vape is still different, it reveals more precisely the pastry and the creamy texture of a milky specialty, whose description of the juice states that it is whipped cream. I deliver it to you here: “Secret Keys by Flavor Hit is a gourmet e-liquid with notes of blueberry pancake topped with a generous layer of whipped cream! "

Indeed, the blueberry that I have not been able to discover before, constitutes that little extra touch that makes this juice original. The pancake, since it is about that, is with its topping of whipped cream, in top note and confirms the greedy status of Keys. The blueberry, naturally with a discreet taste, ends up being conceived at the very end of expiration; it allows, with a subtle fruity touch, to finalize a very light recipe.

The general power is moderate, the sweetness of the assembly is for my taste very welcome, not being a follower of this gustatory kind neither in dessert nor in the vape. Another aspect that accompanied me pleasantly during this test is the texture, certainly due to the VG content and the dosage of the whipped cream flavor, realistic and not very sweet like all of its “co-ingredients”.

You will not feel a lasting mouthfeel, but a pleasant sensation that requires return, by puffs, one after the other, without thinking.

The 6mg / ml hit is really light at lower potency than normal and consistent at higher potencies. The volume of vapor is also the image of what juice at 70% VG can claim, consistent and “palpable” in sub-ohm.

Comments and recommendations for an optimal tasting

2 atos (drippers) were used for this evaluation. The Origin V3 mounted in Single coil at 1,5 ohm and FF cotton Blend, in tight draft (1 X 2,5mm) and from 8 to 15W.

To allow me an analogy of vape with that of clearomizers and other unopened RBAs, this ato offers good rendering precision and the powers tested reflect the good performance of this juice, in terms of taste stability. I preferred a warm to hot vape, which favors, according to my criteria, the pastry and suave spirit of this blend. The cold vape (at lower wattage) does not contain enough "matter" to fully appreciate it.

As for the mirage EVO, it provided me with total satisfaction, both taste and mist, judge the assembly instead: DC stainless steel at 0,24 ohm Fiber freaks Original D1 (for sub-ohm drainage) between 55 and 80W to assess the taste characteristics at high potency. Tight or downright airy, vaping with this ato is a real treat.

I must admit that it was around 60/65W that the sensation and vapor production were most significant; it's subjective, of course, but I'm not making it up. This juice is designed to produce abundant vapor while delivering subtle and realistic flavors without deteriorating when heated.

I would almost regret a lack of aromatic presence in terms of power (a slightly “bumped” dosage would in my opinion be a plus for lovers of greedy clouds, with a revisited specialty across the Atlantic.

The natural color is light amber, but the ratio PG / VG will tend to foul your coils faster than a less viscous juice, if it is possible to vaper in all the existing devices it is obvious that the reconstructibles will be favored in term of change of capillaries, or assembly in general.

My mood ticket on this juice

The second test of the Secret range is slightly less convincing than the first (Time) in terms of its adherence to the manufacturer's description. However, if the goal was to present a delicate liquid capable of vaporizing a significant volume, then it's a gamble that has paid off, unsurprisingly, given the base ratio. If you're expecting a rich, creamy, old-fashioned pastry drenched in cream and dripping with blueberry jam, you'll be disappointed. Keys' Secret is all about subtlety, perhaps too subtle—you'll see.

I'm going to be harsh, probably because of a purely subjective but nonetheless vivid taste frustration, by not awarding this liquid a Top Juice. It's not far off, as it's designed with all the qualities required for a self-respecting premium product, perfectly packaged, and sold at a reasonable price, surely destined to become an all-day vape for die-hard fans, but... blueberry fans will certainly agree with me, it lacks (in my opinion) a little bit of power and intensity in that area to be totally addictive.

That the creators of Flavor Hit are reassured, their Keys is successful, it will certainly bluff more than one, as it approaches faithfully by its flavors of the head, treats appreciated by the customers of the good pastry cooks, without the inconveniences of turn size, consequences of their greed.
