UD (pronounced Youdi) is a brand that speaks to the oldest of vapers. Indeed, as far as we look, the Chinese manufacturer seems to have been present in the vape, at each of its crucial stages. We must remember the Igo-L, an unstoppable dripper for the flavors and the multiple atos and boxes that the manufacturer has served us according to the technological developments of our passion.
Today, the manufacturer remains as active as ever. The proof ? This Zephyrus in version 3 that we are receiving today for dissection and autopsy! The goal: to shake Smoktek on his throne by offering a powerful atomizer, made for strong cloudy sensations. The targets are therefore clearly designated by the brand, it is no more and no less to compete with the famous series of TFV8 and 12 with an uncompromising atomizer.
Here we are armed and warned.
The Zephyrus exists in two versions which correspond to two different packaging kits. The “OCC Kit” version is geared towards users of clearomizers, while the “Diy Kit” version immediately contains an RBA platform allowing full entry into the world of reconstructables. Of course, this applies above all to the initial purchase since the two versions are identical, the only difference being in the composition of the packs. So, even if you buy an OCC Kit, you can then get an optional RBA plate and vice versa ...
The price is set at € 39.90, which places the Zéphyrus in the TFV12 price category, as if by chance… 😉
So the scenario is placed on a ring-shaped table: Zéphyrus VS TFV. Will the newcomer come and shake up the hierarchy. Will the former keep the leadership or will the match end in a draw? This is what we are going to see right away ... the studios!

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
The Zephyrus is not there to impose a new aesthetic revolution. Indeed, this big baby 25mm in diameter has a relatively banal aesthetic that will not create any particular seduction. The brand preferred to freely draw inspiration from previous references by offering a primarily practical and user-friendly object rather than developing an innovative design.
Be careful, this does not mean that the Zephyrus is ugly! On the contrary, it displays the reassuring aspect of a discreet and unpretentious model, in the standard one might say. It makes up for it by a construction above all suspicion. The assemblies are serious, the finishes present well and we physically feel the security when taking the ato in hand. This perceived quality, reinforced by the thickness of the materials, steel and pyrex, confirms that Chinese industry has long eradicated its old demons.
The atomizer displays 5ml of capacity, a serious figure that must be put into perspective by the manufacturer's recommendations for use which range from 60 to 120W for OCC resistors, enough to empty such a tank in twenty minutes of relentless vape!
The qualitative feeling is therefore rather flattering for an atomizer designed to create large clouds. What to put in confidence!

In the OCC kit version that we are analyzing today, the functionalities are therefore limited to their simplest expression:
The filling is very easy since UD recovers for its benefit the “push & fill” method that we find on a lot of atomizers at the moment. The principle is simple, you just have to push the top-cap horizontally where it is indicated in order to reveal the wide opening allowing the tank to be filled. More reliable than the rotating top-cap principle adopted by Smok, the construction is sufficiently well done to give a good impression of reliability over time.
Zephyrus uses resistances called OCC (Octuple Organic Cotton) defined in 0.15Ω. 4 double resistors take place vertically in the barrel to offer an eight-fold coil. Broad enough lights surround the carcass to let any type of liquid pass.
The airflow ring sits on the base and allows you to hide or open four 2mm wide slots. As you can imagine, the airflow is very generous and therefore well sized for the vaporous purpose of the atomizer and the cooling of the coils. The handling of the ring does not pose any problem, it presents an action flexible enough to be very ergonomic but enough restraint not to turn on its own. UD has really thought through its subject and, if the Zéphyrus does not offer any real novelty, it optimizes the use and the functionalities by a flawless realization.

An 810 drip-tip is provided in the pack. It is elegant, pleasant on the palate and perfectly sized for the ato vapor objective. You can of course install the 810 drip-tip of your choice.
UD is also a great specialist in accessories, you can also find in the range of 510 adapters that will allow you to use a more restrictive drip-tip. That said, it would be a bit like putting the exhaust of a 205 on an Aston Martin ...

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
The packaging uses a polycarbonate box surrounded by a cardboard tunnel presenting the atomizer and detailing the contents of the box.
Inside, we therefore find the Zephyrus rigged with a resistance, an additional resistance, a spare pyrex and a bag of spares containing gaskets of different colors that will allow you to differentiate yourself by customizing your assemblies.
A notice is present and has the good taste to express itself, among other things, in French.
The packaging is perfectly sync with the rate requested.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
So, this is where we are going to find out if the Zephyrus keeps all its promises when it is mounted on a mod powerful enough to send the necessary to this resistance.
The response is very positive. Steam galore, we would have suspected just from reading the technical sheet! But that's not all, the flavors are more than generously transcribed and the vape rendering is very greedy with a well-textured vapor, a fairly precise taste for the category. In short, a real moment of happiness for those who like to vape large.
In use, I notice, over a week of testing, the total, complete and perfectly irrational absence of the slightest leak !!! It is almost disturbing, not the slightest embryo of gout emerges from the airholes and no unwelcome projection bursts strombolianly by the drip-tip. A real pleasure !
As for the power, UD warns us: the result will be better between 80 and 110W and it is indeed the case. If you use a 100% VG juice, I advise you to stick to 90W to benefit from the wow effect while not generating any dry-hits. If your e-liquid is more fluid, you can easily go up and go up to 110W without this being a problem.
Of course, at these powers, consumption suffers but it remains all the same, in the category, more measured than what we are used to seeing.
The OCC resistances seem to hold the shock long enough, an additional asset to go tickle the tenors of the sector.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
UD's Zephyrus is a great surprise. If it does not really look great with its fairly common aesthetic, it nevertheless displays a high-level construction that allows it to keep the promises made on paper in reality.
A very vaporous and tasty rendering drives the point home a little more and the more than satisfactory results make it a formidable challenger for the godfather of the category. What deserves a Top Ato, won hard, with a peace of mind of good quality attached to an operation without black point.
Not a revolution but an atomizer uninhibited and sharp, enough to promise a future that sing and a sky covered!
