Reviewer comments on business characteristics

SV Ecig, a Chinese brand, is not well known in our western countries. The most geeks among you may have been challenged when their RDTA Thor atomizer was released, by its aesthetics very worked with beautiful engravings and its ability to be able to cascade several atos into one so as to have two evaporation chambers in the same body!

Here, it is a mini box, well in tune with the times, that the manufacturer offers us. With a pleasant presentation, it is offered at a price very slightly above the average for the category, taking into account a few peculiarities that stand out a little from the usual lot. Its power of 50W, an autonomy of 2300mAh and the ability to send 40A at maximum output, which makes it eligible for association with atomizers mounted in sub-ohm.

Available in two colors, black and red and white and black, it could well shake up the hierarchy among lilliputiennes.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

If the size places it a little above, a few millimeters ready, a Mini-Volt, for example, its shape could well seduce beyond the ultra-compactness. Indeed, the Rusher adopts a much rounder physique. Gone is the dictatorship of sharp rights and “boxic” cubism! A little aesthetic softness in this rough world doesn't hurt and its roundness makes it very pleasant in the hand. In addition, the object is beautiful, stamped with a logo here red on a black background which reproduces a bull in full charge movement. Even if it is reminiscent of a luxury car brand that I will not mention but which begins with Lambor and ends with ghini, the effect is successful and the slight relief of the print adds to the notion of perceived quality.

But it is not limited to that. The painting is also perfectly successful since it reproduces a particularly soft rubbery coating in hand and, small detail which makes the difference, this painting is identical on the buttons, the top-cap and the bottom-cap of the Rusher. Then, the choice of a two-tone finish which alternates red and black parts is an eye-catcher which adds a lot to the seduction of the box. Married to a black atomizer, she will undoubtedly be the queen of the vapero!

The inclusion of a carbon part on the facade including the screen completes the aesthetic bias of the box and brings a sport side that would not have denied some GTs in the automotive world since we are talking about it ...

Especially since the construction leaves no room for approximation. Based on an avionics grade aluminum alloy chassis, the Rusher is lightweight and strong in appearance. I didn't throw it off the first floor to see if it bounced but I think I can say that the hold over time will be fair. The buttons are judiciously placed, the switch being pentagonal and the control buttons round. The screen is small, which is inherent in the very smallness of the object but remains visible and readable, including outdoors. a good point that we will come to weight later by talking about the ergonomics between the buttons and the display.

We note the welcome presence of degassing holes on the main facade but also on the bottom-cap, their number being an undeniable plus because the beautiful using a LiPo battery, quite sensitive to shocks, better to plan, what the manufacturer has done in serenity. Good game. The positive pad 510 is installed on a fairly flexible spring and we note the presence of ridges on the top-cap which would indicate a possible possibility of air intake by this means. Unfortunately, the edge of the connection being higher than the depth of the marks, do not hope to finish your favorite maps with the Rusher, you risk ending up in the emergency room ...

In short, a more than positive quality assessment which bodes well for the future. It's beautiful, well built, well finished and it's fashionable. But all the advantages are not only aesthetic, we will see that immediately.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The Rusher is powered by an ST Super Fast chipset which therefore sends 50W in a resistance range between 0.1 and 3Ω, the current capacity at the output of the LiPo battery complementing the crew well to be sure not to end up constrained at one point. Tested with an atomizer in 0.2Ω, no problem to reach the maximum power, the Rusher does not flinch even if 50W are quite insufficient to supply such an assembly, but that's another thing ... With a 0.5Ω assembly, it causes better right now ! Even though the perfect target for this chipset seems to be between 0.7 and 1Ω to get the most out of it.

At the ergonomic level, we will have to review the classics. Indeed, the control buttons are reversed compared to the acquired habit, the [-] being located on the right when you look at the screen and the [+] on the left. Nothing crippling however, just a few well-felt curses when you want to ramp up when you notice that it drops visibly, but nothing that a short moment of practice will get around.

sv-vapor-rusher-face

The Rusher works according to 5 modes:

  1. A variable power mode, adjustable by one-tenth of a watt, that traverses a scale between 50W and 5W.
  2. A temperature control mode in Ni200, ranging from 100 to 300 ° C, increments by degree, in which you can also adjust the power.
  3. A temperature control mode in SS316, with the same advantages.
  4. A titanium temperature control mode, idem.
  5. A By-Pass mode that will send your atomizer the residual voltage of your battery with a maximum of 4.2V.

These modes are accessible by pressing the switch three times. It is therefore necessary to repeat the operation as many times as necessary to settle on the chosen mode. It's a bit tedious, but we've seen worse.

To adjust the power to one of the three temperature control modes, simply press the [+] button and the switch at the same time and then adjust. Childish.

If you change ato in temperature control mode, before firing, press the [+] and [-] buttons at the same time so as to set the resistance when cold, thus avoiding potential chipset drifts when your coil is heating up and that its resistance will change.

By pressing the [-] button and the switch at the same time, you block the chosen setting, either in watts or degrees depending on the mode you are in.

The Rusher switches to stand-by after 10s of non-use but resumes working as soon as we switch or request a control button. It's pretty well thought out because it allows you to maintain autonomy while being perfectly transparent for the user.

Traditionally, you will turn off your box by clicking five times on the switch and you will do the same to turn it on again.

The protections are numerous and correspond, more or less, to the current de facto standard:

  • Protection against too low battery voltage.
  • Overheating protection of the chipset.
  • Protection against short circuits
  • Cut-off of 10s by puff.
  • Protection against too strong discharge current
  • Protection against certain venereal diseases… no, I digress.

In summary, the Rusher offers all the features suitable for any vaping profile. Everything remains easily accessible even if we note two details of ergonomics which confuse: the inversion of the control buttons and the fact of having to press three times each time to change mode.

Vapelier's note on packaging: 4 / 5 4 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

A beautiful black, red and silver cardboard box contains the box, a white USB / Micro USB cable (I would have preferred red though…) and a manual in English only. This is fairly standard in current production, but here too, the emphasis has been placed on the aesthetics of the packaging which, if not decisive, is always pleasant.

I take this opportunity to pass my usual rant on a possible francization of user manuals knowing that such a notice in English is illegal if the product is marketed in France and that it will not help potential first-time vapers not broken to the tongue of Thatcher to go to the vape.

Vapelier's rating in terms of ease of use: 5/5 5 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Comfort, softness and efficiency are the three terms that come to mind after two days of intensive use and comparison.

The chipset works well and makes a vape quite smooth, due to a certain progressiveness of the signal when firing. Indeed, for the requested 4.7V, it will first send 4.4V and rise to the plateau voltage. However, there is not a significant latency, just a soft effect of the increase in power. The manufacturer seems to have chosen this smoothing mode so as to avoid the inconvenience of dry-hits that can occur when the requested voltage arrives too quickly at the coil not yet perfectly irrigated.

On the other hand, the signal remains very stable afterwards and allows a tasty rendering that is quite precise and compact. The roundness, already suggested by the shape of the mod, seems to apply here too and this will suit all vapers looking for a generous and soft vape. This will not really suit the vapers users of Clapton or other complex resistives because the gradual rise of the signal will go against the expected boost effect for stirring large assemblies.

For the rest, nothing to report, the box behaves to perfection, climbs in the towers without complaint and remains very pleasant, and in hand, and in the mouth.

  • Description of the test configuration used: Vapor Rusher + Theorem + OBS Engine + Cyclone AFC
  • Description of the ideal configuration with this product: A black ato at your convenience

The mood ticket of the reviewer

SV Ecig offers us here a great success in the still open world of mini-boxes. It largely holds up against the competition by displaying an autonomy of 2300mAh that others can only dream of. More efficient than a Mini Target, better equipped than a Mini Volt in functionality and definitely more beautiful than an Evic Basic, it should seduce with its advantageous physique and its ability to send a constant and soft vape.

If we except a few very slight ergonomic defects which are only new habits to take, we undoubtedly have here a real alternative to the leaders in the category. More choice is always good when it comes time to buy and this one is far from the worst you will make.
