Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Ladies and gentlemen, the tenth edition of the world clearomizers championship is declared open. After a promising Aspire Nautilus X, a revealing Aspire Atlantis EVO, it's now up to Joyetech to stick to it with a beautifully crafted Ultimo, even as its Cubis Pro prances to the top of sales in France.

All this starts from a simple observation. The current vape of confirmed people is turning more and more towards cloud hunting. A vape in direct inhalation, therefore, even if users no longer want to ignore the flavor. An equation with two unknowns that Smoktech, often a pioneer, had set out to solve by proposing a TFV4 which had changed the situation and created a happy mess in the established hierarchy of clearos.

Joyetech had therefore pushed its research around the Ego Tank then Tron-S and finally Cubis and Cubis Pro without however succeeding in making the clearomizer which could compete with the TFV from Smok. Indeed, if the resistances cashed in, these atomizers lacked the air flow necessary to ventilate the heat so that they can be considered as truly aerial clearos and generators of clouds.

The response therefore arrives with a very promising Ultimo, accepting the new MG resistances which herald a rapid deterioration of the weather. Being able to grow with proprietary resistors up to 90W, the new outsider could therefore seriously harm the benchmark of high power clearomizers: the TFV4 and its range brothers. Offered at a more than consistent price, the goal being all the same to sell proprietary resistance, the Ultimo has the advantages in terms of design and modesty to seduce.

Let's check this together.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

From the outset, we see that the Ultimo has no out of place aesthetic inclinations. The shape is simple, classic, lapped. The perceived quality is quite interesting, reinforced by the massive aspect of the bell + resistance unit which shows through the pyrex glass. More Audi than Aston Martin, the whole is conventional but presents well.

The second striking element is the large area of pyrex and the total lack of protection. Even if the thickness of the material is sufficient, one is entitled to doubt the solidity in the event of an impact. Regardless, Joyetech has provided a replacement tank and you can always put a terrible silicone ring around to feel reassured.

Joyetech-ultimo-box-3

The two predominant materials are therefore pyrex and steel. A steel of correct quality which contrasts its minimal thickness with an ingenious design of the ato which means that we do not perceive any structural fragility and the result is there: everything seems solid.

The threads are in the house DNA: perfectly made. The seals do a flawless job and nothing taints the overall good first impression. The weight is rather in the low average, the average size and even enough contained for 4ml of autonomy. We are certainly not on the High-End in Switzerland or Austria but, with such a quality / price ratio, we are not going to be choosy. We can therefore only appreciate that the Ultimo presents a flawless overall quality.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The fairies have leaned over the cradle of the Ultimo and we are witnessing a regular display of interesting and above all essential features for starting the atomizer.

The filling takes place from above. To do this, we must unscrew the top-cap part, insert its flask or pipette tip into one of the two large holes provided for this purpose and it's done. Simple, efficient, perhaps better than some solutions already released with an offset of the top-cap on the side which, if they seem practical, do not avoid a certain mechanical relaxation after x manipulations. Here, it's the good old screw, the top-cap is grooved for the grip in fingers, we are in confidence.

The airflow adjustment ring is not a revolution either, but surfs on a concept that is very successful today. It turns easily, using grooves that facilitate the grip and has two locking points, one when the airflow is wide open, the other when it is wide closed. Here again, Joyetech preferred to insure rather than offer complex alternatives. We stay on the safe but on the other hand, we take care of the realization so that the ring is easy to turn and does not turn on its own. It's comfortable and easy.

Joyetech-ultimo-Airhole

No adjustment of liquid supply here and, personally, I am very happy. Assuming that if an atomizer is well designed, it must be able to accept any type of liquid without leaking or generating dry-hits, I am even rather reassured. And the test will corroborate it thereafter. No need to multiply the features when the concept is good.

So you are going to tell me: but what is revolutionary about the Ultimo, what have the fairies done to make a new atomizer out of it? Well the answer is twofold.

First of all, simplicity. Simplicity is always a revolution because it allows the consumer to focus on the pleasure of use and not the adjustments. Like Craving Vapor with the Hexohm, it suffices to transfer everything that is useless so that the vaper can devote himself to the only thing that has real importance: rendering.

The second answer lies in the quality of the new MG heads. We will of course discuss this at greater length, but know already that these resistances are blessed bread for fans of tasty clouds.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Type of drip-tip attachment: Owner but easy to switch to 510
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Short
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

Ooh how smart ... The drip-tip does not have a connection strictly speaking, it is just a steel tube which is threaded on a nipple equipped with joints. Why ? To drain some of the heat by juxtaposing two walls instead of one, but also to maintain a sufficient internal diameter to drain all the vapor without obstructing it.

To those who will say to themselves: “Yes, but I like my 510 drip-tip from Machin and I can't put it on…”, don't panic! Joyetech has thought of everything and it is possible. To do this, simply remove the steel tube that materializes the drip-tip supplied and your favorite drip-tip will easily clip, holding well, into the hole thus released.

The icing on the cake, for those who are allergic to metal on the lips, the manufacturer also provides a plastic tube that will take the place of the steel tube.

Here again, we do not encumber ourselves with salamalecs, the solutions are there, simple and obvious.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

Should we still talk about the perfection of Joyetech packaging? Yes ? Oh okay, I who thought I was going to take a break, it's missed ...

The white cardboard box, typical of the brand, contains a hidden treasure. Even Ali Baba (the hero of the tale, not the shopping platform ...) would remain silent:

  • The Ultimo atomizer
  • A 0.5Ω Clapton MG resistor to operate between 40 and 90W
  • An 0.5Ω ceramic MG resistor that works between 40 and 80W
  • A spare pyrex
  • Two pairs of red and blue joints to personalize your atomizer
  • Black and transparent joints in case of problems with the joints
  • The plastic tube for your drip-tip system

For the price, you will admit that it is a full box and it is the case to say it!

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

We will start with a simple warning that will prevent you from the sole possibility of the Ultimo malfunctioning if you ignore it.

At each filling, as often with atos-tanks taking their air from below, you will have to proceed as follows:

  1. Completely block the airflow.
  2. Remove the top-cap.
  3. Fill.
  4. Revisit the top-cap.
  5. Turn your set-up over and re-open the airflow fully. Hold the position for three seconds and send us a selfie.

Here it is, it's ready. Nothing complicated about that, better to get used to it. Why ? Because otherwise, the air compresses the liquid that escapes through the airholes and increases your pressing bill. Returning the atomizer by re-opening the airflow allows the air to escape and you will no longer have any leaks.

If you understood this, you will have a blast because, for the rest, it is Byzantium.

Lovers of tight airflow, I advise you to go on another material. The Ultimo is made to allow power-vapers to vape quietly with a good tank during their working day before going home and riding their favorite dripper of the moment. If you like this type of vape, this atomizer will be your new best friend.

Reliable, not running away if you respect the departure warning, the Ultimo offers a rendering for me never achieved on a clearomizer. In terms of steam, it's plentiful, very plentiful even and you can send all the power you have, it just needs more. Up to 90W with the supplied Clapton resistor without problem. The airflow is amply sized to pass the temperature and cool the steam no fear.

Joyetech-ultimo-resistance

We note that there is no projection of liquid in the mouth and that the heat dissipation of the product is simply mind-blowing, even in chain-vaping hysterically, the ato will be warm at most.

But it remains the most important: the rendering of flavors. And there we take a big leap forward. With the MG Clapton head, it's already very good and we feel that the coil has been really optimized for the taste AND the vapor, thus achieving the sacred union between two vapes that we thought to be incompatible. With the MG ceramic head, we go even higher. The aromas become more precise, become tenuous in the mouth and, if you lose a little bit of vapor, you can still walk at 80W without problem and compensate for this loss.

Joyetech-ultimo-bottom-cap

In both cases, the rendering is exceptional for a clearomizer which here competes with more complex reconstructable systems on what it offers best: flavor.

Of course, expect to consume juice, no manufacturer has yet solved the equation: 1ml of liquid = 1000m³ of cloud. But maybe one day?

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Contrary to what one might think, the reviewer's big foot is not to come across a lousy material that he will be able to have fun shooting ... First, it would be mean, perverse and then a bad sign the necessary development of materials and e-liquids.

No, the reveiwer's foot is when he comes across a material that makes his eyes shine and surprises him. We are passionate above all else, otherwise it would be so much easier to troll forums and Facebook groups by writing two lines of insults ...

The Ultimo is a clearomizer that will set a milestone in the category. Taking up the torch of an always interesting TFV4, it exceeds it by its reliability and its magnificent rendering.

Will soon be available coils in 0.25Ω in Notch-Coil (… .. yes, I know… ..) and a rebuildable plate in the format of the proprietary coils, making the Ultimo really versatile. So I give a Top Ato to this little wonder which has achieved two miracles: not to stain my pants and to make me completely change my opinion on clearomizers.

Congratulations!
