Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Smoktech, commonly known as Smok is a Chinese company with a worldwide reputation in the vaposphere, in just 5 years, this brand has gone from the mecca mod (telescopic, the famous Magneto) and the first Vmax / Zmax electro tubes, to the most powerful boxes and the best matched on the market.

For a few years now we have also had to reckon with Smok in the field of atomizers, otherwise called vaporizers (in English). Without having the notoriety of specialists in the genre, whether they are RDAs or RBAs, or even clearomizers, Smok has in the recent past, scored points in this field, with in particular the TFV 4 which precedes by a few months, the one whose we are going to talk today: the TFV 8.

Usually costing less than 50 € (all the same), it comes in the form of an RBA / RTA / clearomizer. It is an ato tank that adopts a deck (plate) rebuildable and / or proprietary resistors, adaptable on the same basis.

The fact remains that at this price, it does not contain any particular innovation, and the Chinese have accustomed us to practicing much lower prices for this type of product, what is it exactly? is this TFV 8 worth what it will cost you?

Rating of the vapelier as to feelings quality: 4 / 5 4 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

The object is imposing, with its 75g and 63mm (drip-tip included), for a maximum size of 25,2mm (at the widest), it is intended to ship 6ml juice (5,5 with the T8-V8), which seems a comfortable amount at first.

All stainless steel has a base diameter of 24,5mm, which makes it more imposing than traditional tubes (mods) 22mm, with which it seems little compatible. The tank is made of Pyrex (L = 26,2mm, diam. = 25,2mm), with a thickness of 15 / 10è of mm.

The top-cap fitted with a filling system using a pivoting ring, is extended by the chimney "ceiling", screwed onto the atomization head. The outlet diameter is 7,5mm, that of the drip-tip (owner) is 13mm. Surrounded in blue on the photo, the locked position of the filling system.

The base has, in addition to the 510 connection (not adjustable), the air flow adjustment system, by a notched rotating ring. Note the maximum opening of the airflow: 2 times 15 X 2mm (on either side of the lower part of the base).

TFV 8 Bottom-cap

5 Main Parts therefore make up this TFV 8, and we will see below what are the options provided for the heating chambers (atomization heads). The rotating parts / pivot are provided with notches for easy gripping. The silicone seals are profiled and ensure excellent sealing of the assembled parts.

TFV 8 description

So I have in hand a well made atomizer, certainly a little heavy and massive, but that promises performance to the extent of its size, it's gone for an assembly with the RBA plateau.

Functional features

  • Connection type: 510
  • Adjustable positive plot? No, a flush mount can only be guaranteed through an adjustment of the positive pad of the battery or the mod on which it will be installed
  • Presence of air flow regulation? Yes, and variable
  • Maximum diameter in mms of the air regulation possible: 2 X 15 X 2mm
  • Minimum diameter in mms of the air regulation possible: 0.1

  • Heat dissipation of the product: Normal

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Top filling is now an innovation acquired for the latest generation atomisers / clearomizers. The TFV 8 adopts it by a system of pivoting ring which reveals a white joint pierced in the center of the exit of chimney, and on the side, of a space in arc of circle able to receive the mouthpieces of all the bottles of the market , as well as pipettes.

TFV 8 Filling HeadTFV 8 Lock Filling Ring

This system opens easily and nevertheless requires a virile pressure on the ring, to allow its closure. Once in place, the seal is perfect, you can direct the atomizer in any direction.

The adjustment of the air flow is quite usual and its handling, a great simplicity. A rotating ring will provide all or part of the volume of air that vents will let in at your convenience. The ring does not go out of order easily, I consider this system as reliable and efficient. (The setting simultaneously operates the two holes facing each other).

TFV 8 AFC Base

2 types of atomization chambers are provided in the package, an RBA plate (already equipped) and proprietary resistors signed Smok. There are 2 of them, they are broken down as follows:

TFV 8 Engines (heads) values

A 8 ohm V8-T0,15 (quadruple coil), designed to support up to 260W and whose best performance is between 50 and 180W (that leaves a good margin of progress in power).

A V8-Q4 (single vertical split coil strands) of 0,15 ohm, supporting up to 180W and reasonably usable between 90 and 150W.

I have observed these two resistors without however operating a "disassembly" which seemed hazardous and probably fatal to their subsequent operation. I do not agree with the manufacturer who presents the V8-T8 as an eightfold coil and the V8-Q4 as a quadruple coil, you will find for yourself that these descriptions do not correspond to visible material reality.

I do not pretend to be absolutely sure of myself, but I still keep the descriptions you read above, until it happens that I am shown my error.

TFV 8 Engines (heads)

The other option is the RBA tray. The V8 RBA is a Velocity type deck with a useful internal diameter of 16mm. The mounting pylons accept multi-stranded coils with a thickness of 2mm. 2 important air intakes are located under the resistances and your coils will have to fill the two lateral pits hollowed out at the place of the arrival of the juice (materialized in blue on the picture), to avoid leaks.

TFV 8 RBA Arrival juice

Here are some of the features Smok has to offer so you can go into ULR while giving you the option to opt for your own editing.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Type of attachment of the drip-tip: Owner only
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Medium
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

The Delrin drip-tip is proprietary, it is held by 2 O-rings which effectively ensure its attachment to the top-cap. Cylindrical on the outside, it is internally flared upwards, offering a diameter of 7,5mm at the chimney outlet and at the mouth outlet: 13mm. it is perfectly suited to the performance of the atomizer.

TFV 8 drip-tip

It exceeds 12mm above the top-cap, and although of consistent size, it remains pleasant in the mouth and does not undergo a rise in temperature.

An adapter is provided for your 510 drip-tips, but then you will no longer have this suction capacity adapted to the TFV 8, you will be forced by the fact, to adapt your editing to draw an 510, with the tray RBA, around 0,8ohm to avoid overheating.

Evaluation of the packaging

  • Presence of a box accompanying the product: Yes
  • Would you say that the packaging is up to the price of the product? Yes

Vapelier's note on ease of use: 3.3 / 5 3.3 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

I must confess to you that I did not try to vape with the proprietary coils. I will tell you what the manufacturer Smok says about it:

The V8-T8 is supposed to bring you "deep and rich cloud taste", which can be translated by deep clouds rich in flavors, and jointly the V8-Q4 brings "smooth and silky taste like hookah" a smooth and suave flavor like hookah. with a hookah….

I do not doubt that you will make good use of these descriptions, and especially that you will judge for yourself of their relevance, although I am convinced that your feelings will all be different and that your vape to 90 or 180W will also be subject to other interpretations in terms of feeling.

I preferred to use the RBA plate, already equipped with a double clapton coil with 2 strands, at 0,25 ohm, which I filled with Fiber Freaks Original, making sure to block the inlet lights without tamping. juice. I of course, before closing the TFV 8 tank, soaked the assembly and closed the airholes. (Before inserting your cottons, test the assembly, you may notice, as happened to me, a noticeable difference in the start of heating between the pulse coils, in this case, you will have to reposition the coils. coils in the pylons, to achieve balance.)

Then I proceeded to filling as illustrated in this photo. Without any worry, without leak and after closing, I waited 2 minutes to be sure that the capillary is fully impregnated.

A first long puff at 45W was a little light, and long to start. The lag is explained by the power delivered, too low compared to the resistance value, so I increased it to 50W, then 60W.

The diesel effect, always present, was less and less short and I much appreciated these puffs that the first. As far as the feeling of flavors is concerned, I'm not going to rave about it. The vape does not reach in quality, that of the drippers of which I am accustomed, whatever the adjustment of air intake. Without being either tasteless, it offers a good amount of steam, a quality of rendering of the honest tastes and the occasion to note that this ato heats moderately (until 65W), but that it begins to consume consume from that power.

The airhole is really efficient and its maximum intake volume is well studied for the sub-ohm, however, although the drip-tip is not hot, your vape will be it, as well as the atomizer. , at powers greater than 75W (for 0,25ohm), forget the chain vaping, allow a period of time to pass between 2 slats if you do not want to incur the effects of sunstroke.

Once emptied, the TFV 8 is very easy to clean, you can also easily get another tray RBA (less than 15 €), as well as resistances Smok (around 4 €) to change juice during the day , once your tank is finished. The Pyrex tank can also be bought separately, for less than 3 €.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

The TFV 8 is definitely an atomizer for the sub-ohm, you'll understand. He is a big producer of steam, just as he is a heavy consumer of juice at high powers.

The advantage is undoubtedly, this RBA option, which will allow you to master its capabilities while enjoying a very good quality of vape. So you can increase the resistance value, reduce your consumption and take full advantage of a large tank, or you opt for a thick fog and fragrant, if it suits you better.

Smok has really improved the TFV 4, it is undeniable, without revolutionizing the vape, this brand is progressing slowly, with an ethic that is interesting for us and which bodes well for future surprises: “Success Starts Where It Ends : With the Customers”.

Success starts where it ends: with customers.

I've been telling you for a long time, it's the vapers who made the vape, they are the ones who carry the expansion and the quality of its components (juice and gear), we took all the decision-makers and the manufacturers by surprise, nobody will hinder its progress towards the future (some have understood it well, others are obstinate, too bad for them).

Long live the free vape.

See you soon.
