Reviewer comments on business characteristics

After the commercial success of the mini Cloupor, each box that comes out from the manufacturer is scrutinized. So here we have an aluminum box that can accept two 18650 batteries, a good size but without exaggeration, a magnetic back cover and an available power of 150W. All for a price of around € 100. The high price in absolute terms is however in the average market price for this category of box. It is therefore the direct competitor of the IP V3 for a roughly equivalent price.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

In terms of quality, it's hot and cold that blow simultaneously on the T8.

On the positive side, we can note: the good behavior of the magnets of the cover, the quality of the springs and the switches at the level of the battery cradle as well as the feeling of the buttons, switch included, which are flexible, not very noisy and effective. Likewise, the mod is built in a 6061 aluminum alloy, used among other things in aeronautics.

On the negative side, we regret a too fragile anodization of aluminum which marks and scratches from the first installation of an atomizer and which bodes poor reliability of the coating over time. The finish is correct but average, no more. Gaps are visible in the center of the cover, this one being held only by two magnets placed in the width and being very thin, we can see that the fit is not perfect at the level of the center of the sides of the box . Even if this is not rhedibitory, I admit it completely.

We may also regret, even if it is enough to get used to it, that the cover securely held by the magnets could not benefit from a guidance that would have prevented it from moving when you hold the mod in your hand. Of course, these are only slips but the problem could have been solved without difficulty.

The grip is not unpleasant, quite the contrary. The edges have been chamfered and are therefore pleasant both visually and to the touch.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Overall, the T8 offers us very good functional quality. In addition to the protections listed above, we appreciate the automatic stand-bu in case the CPU reaches the temperature of 54 ° C and a permanent display of said temperature on the OLED screen.

Measured, the requested voltage is 4.5V for 4.7V displayed at a resistance of 1.4Ω. Nothing serious, it does not affect the rendering which is rather brutal and “dry”. If you are a fan of DNA, this box will disturb you because its taste rendering (all the ways of smoothing the signal are not identical…) is different. probably a little less precise than the best chipsets but also more direct and powerful. And that falls relatively well since the power, it has to spare.

In the series of: “thin, how could they miss that?”, We note the absence of recharging by micro-usb, the socket present on the mod only serving to flash the firmware in case , one fine day, the manufacturer would give us an update, those who have owned the T5 will know what I want to say… ;-)

The screen contains all the information required: resistance, real-time voltage, power chosen, CPU temperature, puff counters and battery gauge. In addition, it is particularly responsive and readable and displays, when switching on the mod, a beautiful “Matrix” effect ...

To turn the mod on and off, just click the switch five times. Known, practical and efficient. Note also the possibility of deactivating the screen and blocking the power chosen by simple combinations of keys.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging is classic but has the merit of being well thought out. There is a jumble of the mod, a retractable USB cord (which is unlikely to be used often ...), a VIP card including the serial number, a card indicating that the best resistance scale for using the mod is between 0.5 and 0.8Ω, the instructions in English but well done and very clear including a warning stipulating not to use the mod at high power continuously as well as a small plastic box containing spare screws for the 510 connection and spare magnets. Not to mention a nicely crafted black Philips screwdriver.

The cardboard packaging is strong and contains very dense foam for the protection of the material during postal migration.

A complete package so that does not work against the tariff mod.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

With such power and such a range of resistance (0.15 / 4Ω), the mod is therefore typically designed for sub-ohming or to be your playing partner during long escapades. At moderate power (less than 20W), it has a good autonomy that will exceed a day of intensive vape.

But it is at high power and on low resistances, typically in the configuration recommended by the manufacturer, that we can take the mod in these last entrenchments and enjoy the responsiveness of the chipset with a good well ventilated dripper. On a resistance of 0.5Ω, it is a real pleasure to take yourself for a cloud chaser while going up in the towers. To this end, do not forget to favor batteries that can send 20A continuously. The chipset is itself calibrated to this maximum value.

At a resistance of 1.4Ω, we feel that the power is not exploited to perfection. The hardness of the rendering crushes the flavors a bit. Tested on a Taifun GT at this resistance, the rendering of flavors remains below other chipsets more conducive to better taste development.

At high resistance (2.2Ω), the latency is quite marked and the rendering is arbitrary. This fully corroborates the manufacturer's recommendations for the range of use and the perspective in which this mod has been optimized.

The handling is correct and not tiring, the mod is very constant and the switch is a real pleasure. The T8 is easy and very user-friendly.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

I hesitated for a long time before fixing my final position on this mod.

It's sold to cloud and be powerful at low resistance and I have to admit that, if that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed. It's a no-brainer and it works in this resistance range as well as its direct competitor.

It also shares with this competitor some similar faults: a correct but perfectible finish as well as a perfectible rendering with normal and high resistance.

It is besides this lack of versatility, coupled with a great fragility of the anodization (the manufacturer going so far as to stipulate it in the instructions !!!) which put a little strain on its final note. If we stick to what it is made for, we can only find advantages for it, but to vape quietly on your favorite ato-tank, we will be well inspired to find a more tailored alternative for it.
