The SPD A5 is a small box incorporating a temperature limiter. Compact, sober and easy to use, it goes up to 50 watts, however, be careful to use batteries that can supply more than 20 amps. It is perfectly affordable since it is at the entry level. The coating is pleasant and non-slip and its OLED screen is comfortable.

Its first characteristics are its size and weight since it is relatively small for a box providing up to 50 watts. It is discreet and its coating is very pleasant. The ridges provide a good grip and prevent it from slipping.
The insertion of the battery is easy, no need for a screwdriver, a small sliding cover to place or remove your battery. You can also recharge it via a supplied USB socket.
Neither too soft nor too firm, the spring pin allows a flush mounting with the atomizer. In order to dissipate the heat, a hole is planned, a little small I find this hole much too weak and insufficient.
The three fixing screws on this box are very small, discreet and well integrated, nothing sticks out. A good finish and an impeccable assembly take care of the look of this box which is not completely rectangular with bevelled angles.
Despite the lack of grace in its design, it has a robust and functional look in its small size with an aluminum frame and polycarbonate top cap. The bottom of the box with the cover for the location of the battery is also made of polycarbonate and this is the only small weakness that I could blame it for, because I fear that it will weaken in the long run.

It is rather easy to use, but I regret that the settings are done before vape since most are done by disabling the box (5 clicks on the switch).
Its size is an undeniable asset for transport. The coating is comfortable and does not mark fingerprints.
The temperature control on this box is more of a temperature limiter because you can not regulate the temperature by steaming. You will consume power and if the temperature you have previously set is reached, the box turns off the power.
In fact it is up to you to control your power so that the temperature does not rise too high, so it allows you to put a limit on the heat reached by the coil.
In addition, this limitation is only used when you use a resistive wire in Nickel 200. With Kanthal (or other material) I do not recommend activating this temperature mode. Indeed, it is useless, since this is intended for nickel (only) while the other wires have a different coefficient and variation caused by heat, and are not calculated by the chipset since it does not detect the material. .
At the level of the vape, the restitution of the power and the tension is perfect, no erratic behavior with a constant vape on very low values of resistance as on the highest ones. However, with the use of nickel resistors, be careful not to leave the box too close to a heater to keep a balance on the coefficient provided by the chipset, because it is not adjustable.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
The SPD A5 is a good box that gives a constant vape power, with excellent 50 W capability, by accepting 0.1Ω's honorable resistance values. It is very easy to use and its look is rather ordinary. On the other hand it has a small size that allows a good maintenance.
That being the case, I regret that it is considered a box with temperature control, which is incorrect. It simply limits the temperature previously programmed by the user to prevent vapping with too hot coils. This temperature mode is valid only with 200 nickel resistors.
This is a great product for those who want to go the extra mile by testing Nickel resistors and use this type of vape from time to time but not regularly.
