Indeed, I would even say that it has a delay train in this area, with its 15 watts of maximum power and the fact that it does not take the resistors below 1.2 ohm, it brings us straight back to the origins of mods. electronic. We could therefore stop there, but the main interest of this mod is obviously its aesthetics so let's take a look at the owner.

This is the strong point of this Silenus. Indeed, the quality is simply bluffing. Smoktech combines wood and metal in a very beautiful way. Rosewood goes wonderfully well with stainless steel and gives us an object with a rustic and modern look at the same time, which radiates its class. The steel wheel is assembled with precision, the alternation of engraved part (wv) and grip is visually perfect. In addition, this dial is precise. The chrome button responds to the finger and the eye. It is well adjusted and makes no noise. The spring loaded pin is nickel and guarantees the flushness of your setup.

So perfect?

Not quite, the choice of plastic for the fire button disappointed me a little even if the illusion is almost perfect. It seems to me that the mod is a bit heavy. In addition, the diameter of 27mm gives it a slight lack of finesse, indeed the 2 mm of wood reinforced by a metal skeleton explains the diameter. Finally, the top cap with its two finishes lacks class, I would have preferred a 510 connection machined in the mass.

So let's be clear, the flaws that I find in it are not crippling. The Silenus is very beautiful and the points I emphasize will perhaps be considered by most as quibbling, but I have an unfortunate tendency to look for the little beast especially when I like the product.

The Silenus is super simple. We are facing a mod that wants to be retro, so a wheel with five pre-settings: 6/8/10/12/15 for the watt and 3,6 / 4,0 / 4,4 / 4,8 / 6 for voltage. We turn on the Silenus by the classic five clicks on the switch. We switch from “wattage” mode to “voltage” mode with three clicks. The button will illuminate either white for voltage mode or blue for wattage mode. A panasonic-type 18650 battery will be ideal with its 3400 mah because here, no high-drain battery is needed, so you might as well take one with a large battery life.

No screen, that would spoil everything, just the poles reversal and short circuit protections, no frills. Resistances are accepted from 1,2 ohm and if your resistance is too low, the switch will flash. Ditto for the battery, when we reach the 3,3V threshold, the switch will flash to indicate that the battery is no longer sufficiently charged.

The Silenus will be delivered to you in a very sober cardboard box. You will find a spare ring for the top cap (for the use of an ato ego), an English manual and of course the mod well wedged in its foam. It lacks a bit of class and when you compare the content to the container, there is a lag. But we stay in the middle, no problem.

The Silenus works well with ease. I did not take the risk of taking it for a walk with me but it is still possible. But I think the delicate wood will not withstand the harshness of everyday nomadic use well. For me, that place is in the living room, within reach of your favorite armchair, this is Silenus' favorite hunting ground. Its performances are not extraordinary. We have an almost smooth vape, but the power limited to 15 watts today appears to be very limited in the face of bodybuilding boxes that invade the landscape of vape. The Silenus is really made for a quiet vape, which will not make your living room pass for the streets of London on foggy days. You will be vaping without making the image of your TV or your guests disappear behind a cloud (which generally tends to annoy people who share your life).

Come on, let's start with the cultural aspect. Silenus or Silenus is a character from Greco-Roman mythology (and yes still one). He was Bacchus' tutor. Endowed with an ungrateful physique and a very pronounced taste for alcoholic paradises, he was endowed with a great philosophical sense.

The Silenus is made for evenings by the fireside or gatherings around a good table. His class and modest performance will make him an ideal companion for these occasions. Precious and fragile, I advise you not to expose it to the vagaries of your daily life, unless you want wear marks to give it a more adventurous character. But I, personally, will really reserve it for privileged moments.

So there are things that I will have seen otherwise. First point I would have liked a mechanical mode to be able to feel the sub-ohm with and get a little performance. I would also have preferred a top cap machined in the mass rather than this type of ego / 510 connection whose reliability is sometimes lacking. And finally the fire button, I would have seen it in metal surrounded by a thin circle of light rather than this chrome plastic which lights up with use.

If you are looking for pure performance, it's a failure, go your way. With the Silenus, Smoke shows us its collectible know-how and if your budget allows, this mod really deserves to be in a collection and shows us that the Chinese can do fancy things and good taste, it reassures me after the Kamry 100, I needed to see that to be convinced.
