If Coil Master is a famous name in the vaposphere, it is especially for the tooling, the resistive wire, the ohmmeters and all those things which seem futile but which render a good service to the demanding vapoteur. Do you want ceramic pliers? Think Coil Master! A coil made entirely of staple staggered fused clapton? Same thing ! A vape bag? A coiling kit? Same… The Chinese manufacturer has made a deserved reputation in the vape through the back door and establishing itself as the number 1 in the accessory.
Also, when the venerable brand offers us atomizers, inevitably, we listen, we sharpen our eyes and the truffle rises in the wind to smell the fragrant scents that will not fail to arrive.
After an Elfy RTA monocoil, interesting in more than one respect, which had seduced us thanks to its balance between clouds and flavors, the prince of the clamp returns to us with the Ray, double coil RTA atomizer this time which looks cut to do battle and generate more steam than Miss World's visit to the municipal swimming pool! Still not very widespread in our European countries, the atomizer is available on the manufacturer's website for a small note of 25 €. This is the first good news.
The Ray is available in black or black, which drastically limits the lack of taste. Physically presenting himself as an all-out RTA, the Ray is not ostentatious. With an announced autonomy of 2ml, it is not overbid either. He is content to be there, patiently watching while waiting to draw his cloud blaster. And, as we will see together, this is the second good news.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
Aesthetically, the Ray is at the antipodes of the desires of fashionistas by using a design already seen many times in the competition. 24mm in diameter, around forty high with the drip-tip, there is hardly anything but the logo of the firm enthroned on the top-cap to differentiate it from its congeners in the same category. An engraving with the name of the product adorns the bell, which can be seen clearly in the tank, and a few grooves line the body of the ato to give it an overall banal but coherent appearance.
The materials used are 304 steel, said to be food grade, unprotected pyrex for the tank and a few touches of gold plating here and there, especially on the positive pin of the connection, to say that the designer has made an effort. . The weight of the assembly is measured, a sign that the steel is not very thick. We can see, both in terms of assemblies and materials, that we are not at Squape or at Taïfun. But the price is not the same either and, in any case, the finish remains more than correct compared to the asking price.
Inevitably, we immediately perceive that the Ray is not there to revolutionize the category in terms of aesthetics or finish. The good surprise will wait a few lines, in the rendering of the machine.
Anatomically, the atomizer is broken down into three distinct parts:
The top-cap is unscrewed to access the filling lights, well dimensioned.
The reservoir offers us a breathtaking view of the interior bell which serves as an evaporation chamber and we see at its base four liquid inlets which seem large enough to irrigate the cotton that you will position on the plate.
The base comprises said classic velocity type plate equipped with two good-sized air outlets directing the flow directly onto the coils. I mean THE coils because here, you will have no choice, it is in double coil that Ray will sing his song to you (Georgiaaaaa…). The base also accommodates an airflow ring which will condemn all or part of the large air intake slots. The handling is easy and flexible.
On the bottom of the atomizer, surrounding the 510 connection, we find the usual inscriptions, product name, brand logo and regulatory blah.
Nothing very agreed, after all, on an atomizer that cultivates anonymity like my neighbor cultivates his zucchini.

The features are as basic as they are perfectly proportioned to the purpose of the Ray. Indeed, as soon as we understand that the bell was screwed on the plate, that the plate was fixed on the base and that we could modulate the air intake by the dedicated ring, everything is said.
Our RTA contains 2ml of e-liquid, which is not enough given the obvious desire to do battle that its morphology suggests. The bell has a fairly straight profile, narrowing upwards to join the chimney and concentrate, as we can imagine, the flavors. It overhangs the velocity plate on which it is screwed by revealing the four liquid sockets which are the orifices in which you will put the ends of your cotton wicks.
The assembly is easy and the working space large enough to wedge coils of 3 or even 3.5mm internal diameter. No complexity to make them hold and it is clear that, even if new formats have developed recently, the Velocity still has a bright future ahead of it. Once your resistances are centered and adjusted, cottoning is no more complex. You just have to make sure that the ends are cut into a mustache so as not to pack the material too much in the places provided. This avoids the obturating effect and promotes the free circulation of the juice to the coils.

The supplied drip-tip is proprietary and suits the Ray's expression palette very well. In delrin, it prevents any caloric rise in the lips (to a certain extent, of course) and remains pleasant in the mouth. Fairly large, its internal diameter is reduced at the level of its base to better match the size of the fireplace. We therefore have an external diameter of 14mm, an internal diameter of 11mm and a diameter at the base of 8mm. the drip-tip has no visible seal, it is the inside of the top-cap which is provided with it in order to secure the grip.

The Ray arrives in a black cardboard box adorned with a shiny photo of the atomizer. Well wedged in a dense foam, it is accompanied by a spare pyrex, a plastic bag containing a cotton pad, a set of spares with six additional gaskets, two “house” coils, four BTR head screws of rab and a corresponding key. A coherent whole and which does not make deadlock.
The manual in English is not one, it simply lists technical specifications and whatnot, as useful to the operation of the device as a pair of glasses to a flamingo. I remind you that this atomizer is intended above all for experienced vapers and experienced in the exercise of mastering the reconstructable.

The assembly is simple. The atomizer, if the amount of cotton is adequate (neither too much nor too little ...) and if you make sure to close the airflow when filling, does not leak and behaves perfectly in the area where it is waits. That being said, we will be able to talk about its primordial quality, the one which is the very essence of its existence: its rendering.
First, you can forget about the reasonable powers and the indirect vaping. It is not here that you will find your happiness if that is your wish. The Ray is made to send and he does it remarkably well. I used for my assembly the two fused clapton provided for a result of 0.16Ω. Suffice to say that we are not going to do salon poetry. So, opening the airflow to the maximum, it has to sing! Around 50W, nothing happens… normal. Around 90W, I find my spot and the machine starts talking. And rather in a loud voice.
Indeed, the propensity of this small ato to send steam is diabolical. The flow is very dense, the vapor very white and compact and invades the lungs in a pleasurable way. A real treat for those who love the air and the direct vape!
Often, this result is obtained by ignoring the flavors. Here, this is not the case. The aromas are precise, saturated in taste and the rendering is imperial, perfectly identical to that of a good dripper. It is the good surprise of this test which establishes the Ray, not only as an exemplary asset for the production of vapor but also as a device perfectly suited to a gourmet tasting of your favorite liquids.
Rather devoted to the use of juice strongly dosed in VG, the Ray achieves an almost perfect return / price ratio and intervenes brilliantly, like a dog in a bowling game, in a competition that does not not asking so much! As you can imagine, the liquid consumption is hellish, worthy of an American V8 and the 2ml evaporates as quickly as an ice cube on a barbecue. But it is the fair counterpart of an unprecedented sensory pleasure at this price level.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Decked out with an ordinary physique and using proven technologies, the Ray easily manages to break into its competitors. The fault is its price, very sweet and its rendering worthy of the superior category which strikes the right balance between a generation of Vesuvian vapor and an innate sense of well-defined flavor.
Here we have a credible challenger in the race for the clouds, who achieves the miracle of being competent in all crucial areas while affording the luxury of a rascal commoner. Not expected, not invited, coming from the Middle Kingdom, the Ray could well be the game-changer of this rather dreary end of the year if the authorized wholesalers decide to promote it in the French-speaking world while keeping its current price. .
