Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Return to Fumytech, a manufacturer who has recently entered the vaping ecosystem with an iconic Dragon Ball. Today, it is with a beginner-type clearomiser: the Purtank, that we are going to do a “Back to the future”.

The material targeted by first-time vapers is strategically of the utmost importance. Indeed, there are many more smokers in the world than vapers. The market of tomorrow therefore requires the conversion of as many smokers as possible and, for this, each manufacturer must offer suitable equipment, inexpensive and whose performance allows Actually a fluid passage between the analog cigarette and the personal vaporizer.

The Purtank is part of this approach, especially since it is offered to us at a public rate generally observed of € 13.90, which makes it an accessible object, especially in the context of a first purchase. Offering a tight vape between 5 and 30W, it therefore seems sized for its particular use.

So taking the logical continuation of Stardust, Ce4, T2 and other legendary products of the prehistory of the vape, it is still necessary that it shows itself at the height of its august predecessors, at least. We therefore expect from this product reliable operation, total absence of leaks, cleanly transcribed flavors and a fairly low volume of vapor. These are the obligatory contingencies of an atomizer typed first-vapers who will vape in all credibility as they smoked and, moreover, on a significant level of nicotine.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

Aesthetically, the Purtank is far from being a revolution. The manufacturer contented himself with using proven technical strings and the design of the clearo is proof of this. Straight, built in stainless steel and pyrex, it has an airflow adjustable by a rotating ring and airholes located on its base. Said base therefore accommodates proprietary resistors (still new !!!!) and a traditional 510 connection, except that the positive pin is in gold plated brass. For an item that peaks at € 14, it's better than good.

The thicknesses of the materials are correct but the used steel does not seem of very high quality. To be honest, I even believed at the start that it was chrome-plated brass, like in the heyday of Vivi Nova (less than 20 years old, go your way, you won't understand…. Lol). But, information taken, it is therefore a question of an “arbitrary” steel which does its job in the absence of having an effect. waouh !

The pyrex is very exposed and, normal at this price, there is no spare pyrex provided. So be careful, especially since it will be difficult to put a silicone ring around, these are generally cut for machines 22mm in diameter.

Here, the Purtank displays a diameter of 19mm and a height of 36mm which makes it a small clearo which, unlike the “low but wide” trend, imposes a “narrow but high” definition. It is not visually annoying, the clearo resembling ... a clearo.

The airflow adjustment ring is notched and has a fairly low resistance to handling. It is also particularly thin. However, it works fine.

The screws and joints are consistent and the overall finish is not dishonest when we put it in parallel with the very contained price.

Functional features

  • Connection type: 510
  • Adjustable positive plot? No, a flush mount can only be guaranteed through an adjustment of the positive pad of the battery or the mod on which it will be installed
  • Presence of air flow regulation? Yes, and variable
  • Maximum diameter in mm of the air regulation possible: 32mm²
  • Minimum diameter in mm of the air regulation possible: close to 0
  • Positioning of the air regulation: From below and benefiting the resistances
  • Spray chamber type: Chimney type
  • Heat dissipation of the product: Normal

Reviewer's comments on functional features

As you would expect for a beginner-type clearomizer, the features are not legion and fortunately. Indeed, nothing like a gas plant requiring Bac +12 to be mastered to annihilate the already arduous efforts of the first-time vaporizer to understand his set-up.

The Purtank therefore uses proprietary resistors, the Fumytech Purely BDC, which have a resistance of 0.9Ω, suited to the ambition of the product and the use of organic cotton as a hairline. They are easily positioned by screwing them in the classic way on the base.

The airflow adjustment is functional but strange. In fact, despite the presence of two fairly long slots, the influence of the adjustment is quite relative and varies little between the minimum point and the maximum point. Moreover, when the ring completely closes the slots, a stream of air still manages to slip and supply the coil.

Anyway, the watchword here goes from “very tight” to “extremely tight”, which, again, seems to me to be totally appropriate for the occasion. Nothing is more sterile than wanting to swallow a cloud of cyclopean vapor to a beginner, except to disgust him forever.

Filling is done by unscrewing the tank from the base and turning it over. Here too, we are recycling proven techniques. It is quite easy to introduce a reasonably fine dropper between the chimney and the walls of the tank. It will be much more complex with a glass pipette on the other hand, the interstices are not very wide, the diameter of the clearo requires.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Drip tip type: 510 Only
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Medium
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

The delrin drip-tip is provided and is pleasant to use. It takes on a flared up shape and therefore ends up in a completely consistent diameter for mouths not used to having anything other than a cigarette between their lips, any salacious allusion being obviously absent from my thought at this very moment.

It heats little or not at all at a “cruising” power of 14W.

Here too, the term that comes to mind is “suitable”.

Evaluation of the packaging

  • Presence of a box accompanying the product: Yes
  • Would you say that the packaging is up to the price of the product? No
  • Presence of a user manual? No
  • Is the manual understandable for a non-English speaker? No
  • Does the manual explain ALL features? No

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging, even lit by the low price of the object, is poor.

A humble box, resembling those of the batteries, surrounds your atomizer and that's it. Other than the printed “Purtank” and “Fumytech” mentions, that's all you'll get.

No spare pyrex, no additional resistance… so far that can be understood in relation to the price. But the absence of a notice, however essential in the case of a beginner is, in my opinion, prohibitive. Indeed, as long as the consumer makes his purchase on the web and is therefore deprived of the wise advice of a seller, he is all alone in front of his machine and only has to make do with it.

You will retort that “we did the same at the beginning”. It's true, I remember it too, but today we are entitled to think that vaping has evolved and that manufacturers have taken the measure of the stakes. Also, at one time, when asking for information on a forum as a beginner, there was always someone patient to answer, for the thousandth time, the same “blues” questions. Today, it is much less obvious and that we all know.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Let us immediately respond to the specifications set above:

Yes, the operation is reliable and no bad surprises have come to spoil my use of the Purtank. Consuming relatively little liquid, it is easy to fill as long as you have a plastic bottle. Failing to be very precise, the airflow adjustment allows to find, in adequacy with the printed power, a cushy and serene vape.

No, there were no leaks. The system therefore appears to be sufficiently sealed to function properly, even with very fluid liquids. Nothing therefore to report on this point.

Yes, the flavors are correctly restored. We cannot speak here of a “flavor-chaser”, of course, but the Purtank does better than to ensure the minimum union and the different flavors are exploited in an optimal way.

The volume of steam is far from being ridiculous, here we are joining the category average and, depending on the power / airflow duo chosen, we can have a little trickle of steam or a pretty flattering cloud.

The resistance is given for an operation between 6 and 30W. Let's not dream, it will never reach 30W without dry-hits (I tried). On the other hand, between 10 and 15W of power, the vape is comfortable and quite tasty. At 20W, it even starts to “talk” for good! At 6W and airflow at least, uh, how to say, not much is happening, it's the level “Ventolin”...

As you can imagine, you will first have to pay attention to the viscosity of your liquids. Up to a median ratio of 50/50, it goes very well. In the usual ratios of 80/20 or 70/30 of liquids typed first-vapers, we are perfect. But in rations where vegetable glycerin takes precedence over propylene glycol, there is no miracle to expect, the system runs out of steam, becomes asthmatic and forfeits.

Recommendations for use

  • What type of mod is it advisable to use this product with? Electronic
  • With which mod model is it advisable to use this product? A mod developing between 15 and 30W
  • What type of liquid is it recommended to use this product with? Liquids not exceeding the viscosity grade of a 50/50
  • Description of the test configuration used: Istick Pico, different liquids of various viscosities
  • Description of the ideal configuration with this product: Mini box

was the product liked by the reviewer: Bof, it's not the craze

Overall average of the Vapelier for this product: 3.9 / 5 3.9 5 out of stars

The mood ticket of the reviewer

A very honest clearomizer that makes the vape available to everyone, both in terms of its light price and its ultimately good.

As long as it is a question of finally getting rid of the Stardust or CE4 which still clutter the stalls of the shops, the Purtank fulfills its contract very seriously and will give beginners favorable first impressions.

If it is to shade the Nautilus X or other Cubis Pro, we are not there yet but the prices are not exactly the same either. And, as you well know, a first purchase is always expensive: the mod, the ato, the battery, the charger, the liquid…. It figures quickly enough and a saving of 10 € on an honest clearo, it can determine the passage to the act.

In short, a clearomiser quite honorable, to advise beginners without blushing whose main fault is the total absence of record, yet crucial to the target audience.
