Aspire, a great specialist in clearo and “access” vape products, offers us its latest creation: the Plato.

A set-up box since it integrates a clearo. Presented as versatile, light and compact even if the idea is not new, Aspire offers with this product interesting technical solutions which partially solve the shortcomings of this type of box, of the Nebox style from Kanger.

A product of hybrid spirit, complete, which offers an evolutionary ready-to-vape set-up, at a suitable price.

Plato, or Plato with us, has this name been chosen to mean that this box offers a new philosophy of vaping? Yeah, I might not go that far, but… let's see that.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

A compact box 87,5 x 50 x 23, especially since it integrates the atomizer which offers a tank with a capacity of 4,6 to 5,6 ml (depending on resistance).

Lightweight since it weighs less than 200g, ato included. This low weight is partly due to the use of plastic for the body and aluminum for the cover and the frame.

This featherweight gives an impression a little junk, but it is not, the box is still strong and very well finished. Everything is perfectly assembled.

The atomizer therefore incorporates a pyrex tank, which you can change if necessary, because even if the atomizer is included in the body of the mod, it can be completely dismantled. A very good point, whether for maintenance or simple cleaning.

The fire button and the tilting bar [+] and [-] are of good quality and are perfectly fixed, no noise parasite.

The design is a bit formal but elegant. In the black version, the plastic body forms a fine white frame with a brushed aluminum cover painted black. What is certain is that everything seems serious and well positioned at the price level.

This box offers all the usual functions found on this type of product:

A variable power mode (VW) that can be modulated between 1 and 50W and which accepts resistances from 0,1 to 3Ω.
A bypass mode that disappears if you do the update, Aspire finally judged that this mode was not really useful, it accepts resistors from 0,2 to 3Ω.
A TC Ni200 or Titanium mode adjustable from 100 to 300 ° C which starts with resistances from 0,05Ω.

The box has a USB port for updates and recharging the battery, but beware this function is not passthrough (you will not be able to vape while recharging).

The screen indicates, of course, the charge of the battery, the value of the resistance, the power or the temperature and the output voltage.

Basically, a rather classic box in the proposed functions that will suit the greatest number.

The packaging is very classic. A hard cardboard box predominantly black.

On the box, the photo of the beast and its name. Nothing great, but it's clean, and commensurate with the price point. In addition, the pack is very complete. The box, the 18650 battery, the two main types of resistance, the USB cable and two drip-tips, one for use with BVC (Bottom Vertical Coil) resistance, and one in delrin for sub-ohm use.

And, to top it off, a notice translated into French. In short, added to a bottle of good juice, let's go for a ride in the clouds.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Plato is a box designed for everyday life. A compact solution ready to go, with a large tank and one or two 18650 batteries. You have a very good proposal in your hands.

The tank is filled by removing the aluminum cover, then unblocking the opening in the high position of the tank. Filling is easy with most bottles with or without a pipette. You will notice a similar hole at the bottom of the tank provided for it, to drain. Indeed, in case of concerns about the resistance, you will have to empty the tank, because the resistance is a kind of “backbone” of the tank.

Changing the resistance is not complicated, but it does require being able to land.

As for the vape, two solutions:

You are a beginner, the BVC coils of the mini Nautilus will give you full satisfaction, the variable airflow allows you to explore the full potential of this resistance and already offers a certain variety.
For those who want to taste the vape in sub-ohm, the Plato resistance, a vertical Clapton coil at 0,40Ω, offers a very nice vape. He's not a monster, but it works well.

The battery is set up and extracted very easily from the cradle, in particular thanks to a hole which allows you to push it from behind, this avoids the classic and often too long ribbon.

Finally, the commands. It's a bit confusing. Aspire has decided to go out of some “codes”. For example, 5 clicks on the fire button will lock the box and to turn it off, it will take 3 new clicks. Fortunately, the manual in French explains everything to you.

In short, a box not bad for everyday life, simple, discreet, elegant, light and which vapes rather well, usable by a beginner or by an already more advanced vaper. Only the price of Plato resistors (3 € each) can be a brake. At the same time, the resistance being rather weak, the price does not surprise me.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Verdict, this Plato does not offer a new philosophy of vaping despite its name. On the other hand, it redefines the ideal nomadic set-up for everyday life. It's already seen, especially with the Kanger Nebox. But the Plato seems to me more reliable and more practical. Indeed, the tank can be disassembled and can be changed, no leaks to deplore.

The vape it provides is very correct and quite satisfactory for everyday life.

Scalable thanks to its range of resistances, it seems to me to be a good investment to start. In addition, the pack is complete, a bottle of juice and let's go.

It is not the revelation of the century, but a very good upgrade from what existed until then.
