Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Built by Digiflavor, the Pharaoh is above all a dripper resulting from the close collaboration between the manufacturer and Rip Trippers, the favorite hipster of vapers. We suspect that this steel offspring should show itself: “Awesome”, “Fuckin 'Sucker” and other “Cowabunga” when we know the extrovert and endearing personality of the American.

Here is a RDA that presents itself as a good balance between flavor research and cloud production. It can be used in mono or double-coil and uses some interesting innovations that we will develop further.

Offered at € 39.90, it therefore adds a certain restraint in the price which is quite decent and which places it in direct competition with RDAs such as Tsunami 24, among others. With a possible liquid capacity of 2ml, it is also positioned as a dripper with good autonomy.

That good tracks in sum that we will borrow to get an idea.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

The Pharaoh is a beautiful RDA! Indeed, with 45mm high, including drip-tip, we have an atomizer whose height is comparable with an RDTA. In addition, its diameter of 25mm gives it a massive appearance.

Devoid of artistic temptations, the Pharaoh is not ugly either. It is very straight, cut with a billhook and gives a nice impression of solidity. Possessing an engraving with his surname on the base, it is the only distinctive element that allows him to stand out. Other engravings, including the reviewer's signature, are present under the bottom-cap.

Benefiting from a very correct finish, the offspring of Rip offers us a “simple” two-piece, composed of the base and the top-cap. Point. The two are united by a fairly successful screw thread which avoids asking the fateful question of “am I in front of the coil?”.

The base accommodates a ring to adjust the airflow. It therefore offers three possibilities: one airhole, two airholes or three airholes and is actuated on a ratchet mechanism which allows you to always be ideally positioned whatever your choice of air flow.

On the inside, the top-cap shows that it is as straight as it is on the outside. No dome shape in order to concentrate the flavors but a chimney starter finishing the drip-tip part which should serve, in my opinion, as a gutter to collect the condensation in order to return it to the tray.

The set, since we're talking about it, is interesting. Two plates mounted on spring and adjustable by a single central screw serve as posts to place the legs of your coil (s). To slide a single, it's very simple, we loosen the screws a little, we slide the legs by positioning the resistance in the center of the plate in the direction of the length and we tighten. The handling is childish and there is plenty of room to put a very wide and very long coil.

For a dual-coil assembly, you have two possibilities. Or assemblies in the direction of the width, in which case your coils will have to be short enough for the blow and your cotton placement, although feasible, will be a little choppy. Either you position the two resistors lengthwise, one after the other and pass a single central cotton through the two coils.

A clever and deep tank, in which will dip the ends of your cottons, ensures the base of the base. It should be noted that this tank is closed by a small ergot easy to handle that closes part of the tank once your cotton positioned to make it as tight as possible. Malin!

Functional features

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The center of the plate is occupied by three large openings of 5mm by 2.5mm. These are the air accesses that will benefit directly from your coil (s) since they are located just below. They therefore correspond to the three air intakes located on one side of the base. One may wonder why the designers made this choice when it was certainly possible to also put a series of three airholes on the other side and thus balance the air intake and benefit the general cooling.

The operation of posts is extremely simple and ensures easy editing. The Pharaoh is even within the reach of a beginner in reconstructable. Very focused on ergonomics and ease, it will allow you to get your hands on in complete safety before attacking more ticklish RDAs.

The brackets for the legs are equipped with flanges that allow you to hold the wire while you tighten it. The width of the slots not only allows the use of large and complex cables but greatly simplifies life when it comes to centering the coil (s).

The tank is a real pleasure to use. Once widely opened by the dedicated lug, it can accommodate your cotton without having to do gymnastics to achieve it. In this position, it also allows a quiet filling without putting it everywhere. Then, it suffices to slide the shutter by the same lug in order to wedge the cotton and also to ensure a relative hermeticity which ensures, in fact, an operation without leaks.

The “collateral damage” of this choice is that it is almost impossible to fill the tank by dripping through the orifice of the drip-tip. It is then necessary to unscrew the top-cap, open the tank and fill it again. It's a bit tedious but I remind you that the on-board autonomy of 2ml avoids repeating this gesture too often.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Type of drip-tip attachment: Owner but passage to 510 through a supplied adapter
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Medium
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

Two proprietary drip-tips are supplied with the Pharaoh. Made of plastic and of the same size, the only difference is that one of them is equipped with a screen protecting against the projection of liquid and the other not.

The two false-twins are the same average length and the same diameter.

An 510 adapter is also provided, allowing you to use the drip-tip of your choice.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging is complete and quite attractive.

Riding on the Egyptian aspect induced by the name of the dripper, the rather sexy and very protective cardboard presents us a stylized pharaoh resembling Tutankhamun's sarcophagus.

Inside, we find the atomizer, the two drip-tips and, below, a bag of spares containing the 510 adapter, a tri-cavity screwdriver, gaskets and two spare screws. Despite the absence of instructions which is less worrying on a dripper (although?), The packaging is complete and quite in the price range where the Pharaoh is located.

Appreciations in use

  • Easy to transport with the mod of the test configuration: Nothing helps, requires a shoulder bag
  • Disassembly and cleaning facilities: Super simple, even blind in the dark!
  • Filling facilities: Easy, even standing in the street
  • Easy to change resistors: Easy but requires a workspace to lose nothing
  • Is it possible to use this product throughout the day with several vials of EJuice? Yes perfectly
  • Was there leak after one day of use? No
  • In the event of leaks during the tests, descriptions of the situations in which they occur:

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

We have already glimpsed the qualities of the atomizer: the simplicity of assembly and the autonomy in liquid. Now let's take a look at the vape rendering.

We quickly realize that the object was the result of a consensus to find a balance between flavors and vapor and that the goal is versatility of use. In this sense, it is completely successful since the ergonomics and the rendering are quite comparable and compatible.

On the other hand, the Pharaoh seems to hesitate all the time on what to privilege. Also, we have a fairly abundant vapor, including in single coil, but which remains well below the tenors in the matter.

Similarly, if the flavors are not absent, they are well back from the most talented drippers in the genre.

So, and as is very often the case, versatility collides with physical reality. It is complex, if not impossible, to make a dripper that mixes very dense vapor and top flavors. You are going to retort to me that some do, however, and you will not be wrong. If only Tsunami 24, which I took as a reference at the start and which is comparable to it in terms of the tariff category, does better on both counts. For the rest of the comparable references, we change prices radically, you will agree.

So the Pharaoh has a good rendering, correct in all areas of the game but does not excel in anything in particular. And it's a shame because, in view of the indisputable qualities of the machine, we would have liked it to go to the end of its logic and offer an even better compromise.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Despite the flaws inherent in the thwarted search for an ideal marriage between volume of vapor and restitution of flavors, I really liked the Pharaoh.

I find it easy to use which is disconcerting and places it as an ato of choice to learn about the joys of the dripper. I also loved its tank which, although requiring more handling for filling, has a great autonomy in liquid.

I think a second version, aimed at refining the technical choices, could be really exciting to discover. A dome shape to better concentrate the flavors, a height undoubtedly reduced for the same purpose and a redesigned air circulation circuit would be, in my humble opinion, avenues to follow to perfect the Pharaoh's challenge to do well in all the domains.

There is talent in this atomizer, it is undeniable. You just have to let it express itself fully. And don't forget: “Smoking is dead, vaping is the future and the future is now!”
