Reviewer comments on business characteristics

The last production of Aspire in terms of clearomizer arrives! To those who may have experienced some disappointment with the taste of Atlantis, the previous opus, I say loud and clear “let's make a clean sweep and see where this new number takes us”!

Still in a very aquatic climate for the name, after the Nautilus and Atlantis, here is the Triton! The océane reference is a concept that works at Aspire! I can't wait to test the hermit crab or the cod. But joking aside, the clearo reaches us at the right time to catch up with the delay that the brand may have taken on its main rival, Kangertech.

This time, Aspire thought of providing (optionally, unfortunately…) a plate called RTA which has the advantage of being rebuildable. However, this board differs significantly from the Kanger board and looks more like a proprietary resistance that can be rebuilt. Not having this set in my possession, I will take care not to draw any conclusions whatsoever but it seems that the assembly will probably be less obvious to achieve.

In normal operation, with the proprietary cotton Puff resistors, you will have the choice between 1.8Ω in 316L stainless steel, 0.4Ω and 0.3Ω in Kanthal. We will test here the 1.8Ω as well as the 0.4Ω which are supplied with the atomizer. Too bad that, for the moment, no resistance in NI200 is foreseen, the Triton being released at the same time as the Pegasus box of the same manufacturer which is equipped with the temperature control… Weird way of seeing!

The price, lower than that of the Subtank Mini V2 of € 4, is therefore intended to be competitive even if other equally interesting competitors may be less expensive. Personally, I think the price charged is within an acceptable average.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

Aspire products often feature impeccable build quality. The Triton is no exception to the rule. The stainless steel is of good quality, the pyrex is protected by steel reinforcements and the different rings rotate without problem without being too sensitive. It's clean, aesthetic and there is nothing wrong with the precise fit of the parts.

Everything is absolutely simple. It's easy to disassemble, reassemble and… refill. We will see how later.

In the balance sheet, an almost perfect grade in the qualitative chapter which illustrates quite well the impression of solidity that one experiences, object in hand.

The diameter of 22mm as well as an average weight makes it suitable for landing on any type of mod, box or tubular, without any problem.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The features offered by Triton are numerous and some have a rather innovative aspect.

First, we have an airflow ring located on the bottom cap, which has two 12 x 1 mm slots for a fairly precise adjustment, which allows you to juggle between a tight vape and an aerial vape.

Then, at the level of the drip-tip, we have another adjustable airflow ring, having two slots of 7 x 1 mm. Placement in this location does not benefit the resistance but rather serves to regulate the temperature of the vapor by supplying air at room temperature. Obviously, when fully opened, there is also a noticeable effect on the general flow of air and steam and also, unfortunately, on the flavors.

The interesting little novelty is a ring located at the top of the tank and before the drip-tip block. Once the latter has been removed, we turn the ring and we see that two holes appear allowing the filling of the atomizer. It's simple and very effective. I had no particular problem filling the ato by this means, even with a pipette. Indeed, the orifices being located in a fairly wide channel, even if you pour a little juice next to it, it obediently takes the path to the tank. Well seen ! Visually, it is easy to spot the positions that allow filling by the presence of two engravings, one in the form of a drop signifying that it can be filled and the other in the form of steam coming out of a mouth which illustrates the closed position. .

Drip-Tip Features

  • Drip tip type: 510 Only
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Short
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

Aspire provides a drip-tip adapted to its clearomizer or almost. Indeed, with an internal diameter of about 10mm at the outlet, one could believe that this drip-tip completes a device intended only for large clouds. And yet, the diameter of 5mm of the chimney rather tends to invalidate this intuition… But the Triton has astonishing ambitions and seeks to juggle between two worlds. This will show up later in using the product.

We can change the drip-tip, this one being in 510. On the other hand, it will be necessary to count on a double joint drip-tip for a good hold, the 510 having rather a tendency to see “wide”.

Vapelier's note on packaging: 1.5 / 5 1.5 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

Still no instructions in an Aspire clearo packaging… .. it's annoying. I will not epilogue but this is probably one of the reasons why a beginner will never be able to buy this Triton. Because even the minimum vital to make the ato work is not explained. Because the potential buyer is automatically taken for a confirmed vaper, which probably will not be the case. And because the brand and the importer undoubtedly have a hair in hand to meet this legal obligation in our country and not enough scruples not to even crack a few safety warnings. Lamentable.

Instead, we have a panegyric on the quality and innovation of Aspire and patati et patata products… Dear Vacuum Cleaners, less self-promotion and more information, please.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

No problem when using the Triton. It behaves very well and does not cause any greasy disaster on your clothes. The filling is really childish and avoids a lot of soiling caused by tankesque imbalances when filling standing in a busy street… Phew.

The change of resistances is very simple, even full tank.

In this respect, the Triton is at the height of the previous clearos of the brand. Safe and efficient.

Regarding the use of proprietary (and typical Triton) resistors, there is, in my opinion, a slight difference between reality and what is stated.

For the 1.8Ω resistor, a power between 13 and 20W is recommended. Ok for me, I checked and it is true that, even with an e-liquid with a very high rate of VG, the resistance holds this power range without any dry-hits on the horizon. On the other hand, the 1.8Ω resistance is equipped with fairly narrow air inlets and the vape remains, even by opening the airflow rings wide, desperately tight and it is a Tayfun GT1 lover who tells you! To hear it correctly… I thought I was projected 4 years back when we had the impression of vaping on pens with the clearos of the time….

Aspire Triton rez 2

For the 0.4Ω resistor, it is between 25 and 30W that Aspire recommends the power setting. Personally, I found that it took a minimum of 35W to wake up the resistance and set between 40 and 50W to have a nice rendering. On the other hand, the resistance benefits from generous air-holes and there, we can finally find its own flavor / vapor rendering by playing with the ring.

Unfortunately, I have not tested the 0.3Ω resistor, so I won't talk about it.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

The Triton left me skeptical.

While it is accepted that its construction is very neat and that the features offered open up certain perspectives for use, its major flaw is not knowing which foot to dance on.

Is he the descendant of the Nautilus? In this case, it is missed because it does not come close to the level of flavors and the use of the resistance in 1.8Ω condemns the user to asphyxiation because the draft is so tight.

Is he the offspring of Atlantis? So where are the promising bulky clouds? In any case, it is not with the resistance 0.4Ω that we will obtain them.

The Triton wanted to play on all fronts at the same time and be a flavor clearo AND a vapor clearo. But, as so often, versatility only hides the impossibility of excelling in a particular field. Thus, we wander between semi-cloud a little tastier than usual on one side and a swig of flavor with a bite of a straw on the other.

By dint of wanting to make the big gap, the Triton is likely to disappoint on all sides. We can prefer other competitors who have made a clearer choice to function at best in his personal vape.

A disappointment, undoubtedly.
