Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Fumytech doesn't give us time to breathe! Indeed, the young brand seems taken with a creative fervor and begins to establish itself as a manufacturer which counts in the production of atomizers. After a Dragon Ball that caused a lot of virtual ink to flow, in particular among the self-proclaimed lawyers of the rights holders of the manga franchise who, as everyone knows, invented the sphere ... but which has established itself as a A striking novelty, we were treated to a host of new products, all consistent, which tend to show that the manufacturer is overflowing with ideas.

It is in this context that the Navigator BX 1.5 comes out, which we will call by its small name “Navigator” because of economy of keyboard keys. A beautiful baby 25mm in diameter, all dressed in black, and who looks like a complete and complex RTA.

Sold at around 65 €, the atomizer is therefore in the mid-range and intends to enhance its price by an attractive offer on paper and numerous and new possibilities. Available in black, it is also available in a black and gold collector's version and follows on from the Navigator first of the name, from which it intends to take over the functions while improving them.

So a nice program, that we are going to X-ray, to verify the reality.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

Despite its notable height, the Navigator nevertheless seems massive, firmly planted on an imposing diameter. The aesthetic borrows, like its surname, from the imagery of piracy and we can say that it is successful in the genre. A very contrasted engraving reminds us of the name of the product and proudly displays the Jolly Roger of sea brigands and other privateers. The stage is set.

However, the aesthetic aspect cannot be reduced to this sole consideration. Indeed, the long pyrex tube reveals an imposing atomization chamber which overhangs a pyrex porthole to better see the deck of the ship. And in particular a golden navigation bar which is not only there for the board but which will have a well-defined functionality. The rest is more conventional and the different airflow rings, because there are two of them, have opted for an ergonomic choice rather than a marine one, fortunately.

The construction is very correct and calls heavily for 304 stainless steel, a material for which the manufacturer has not cut corners on the quantity, evidenced by the respectable weight of the machine.

The finish is nice and seems made to last. The black finish obtained by physical vapor deposition is very well achieved and should withstand the pangs of aging for a long time. This technique, schematically, consists in vaporizing metal particles in a vacuum environment into thin films which, from then on, are impregnated on the main material. You can store your brushes ...

No problem with threads or hardware, no more for joints, all this little world does its job well as a well-honed crew.

The anatomy of the Navigator reveals a lot of interesting things. Let's start with the keel if you don't mind. Here we have a basic, non-adjustable 510 connection in SS304, surrounded by a sober mention of the identity of the manufacturer. Even if we could have preferred a brass pin, this connection will do very well.

Just above, we find the base itself which is surrounded by an airflow ring, also used to manage the flow of liquid. We will come back to its handling later, but you should already know that it allows two large cyclops to be opened and closed, which augurs well for a storm of wind in the sails. This base has a plate, to say the least, innovative since it has two holes to connect your resistive legs to the negative pole directly cut in the mass as well as a stem representing the positive pole which comes to cap the famous gold-plated marine bar which will serve therefore to wedge the ends of your coils.

On the third floor, it is the tank itself which, although lacking protection to ensure the survival of the pyrex in a possible fall, therefore allows us a total view of the interior. We can see the liquid inlets, composed of two times six holes and that we can adjust with the airflow ring, as I told you above.

Arrived at the top, it is a second ring of airflow which awaits us and which will make it possible to direct, in addition to the first or in its place, the air flow by an internal wall of the chimney towards the resistances and thus create an additional vortex effect to recover even more air and, who knows, flavors.

The top of the foremast ends with a drip-tip, signaling in passing that we leave the piracy to enter the steam room.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Rarely an atomizer of this category will have concentrated at this point such a set of functions. This is an intelligent product which must be carried out intelligently to derive its full potential. Let's sum up:

The Navigator works as well in double-coil as in single coil. In this last configuration, a thin metal plate located on the plate can be turned in order to block the air inlet of the second coil.

The double airflow, located at the top and at the bottom, can be simultaneously activated in order to introduce as much air as possible into the evaporation chamber. At the bottom, the air benefits below the resistances and from above, it is a semblance of a vortex that floods the chamber in order to suck in the vapor and flavors. Each of the two rings is independently adjustable. We can therefore have: only the airflow from the top, only the airflow from the bottom, the two wide open and all the possibilities of fine adjustment between the two. In this case, it's hard to imagine not finding the print that suits you.

The Navigator offers two different chimneys natively. The first, originally installed, has a good cross section and retains a large diameter steam duct allowing the generation of very aerated and volumetric steam. The second is thinner, the duct narrows and will therefore allow optimal operation in single coil, even in double for an increased rendering of flavors. A novelty that allows, again, to adjust the atomizer to his personal vape.

The resistance attachment points are particularly well thought out. Even if they require you to lean for a few seconds over the length necessary for the legs to be properly secured and the coil to be well centered, this length will never change and will quickly allow a constant result to be achieved. Fixing to the negative is effected by two BTR screws which can be accessed through the plunge holes which will later receive the cotton.

If it seems complicated, in reality it is not because it is easy to find its marks. The wire is placed like a charm at the bottom of the base and you just have to tighten it using the key provided. For the positive pole, it is even simpler since it suffices to put the legs on the stem, put the marine bar in its place and screw. It works with any thread, simple or complex.

The lower airflow ring is also used, in a natural gesture, to more or less close the holes managing the flow of liquid. It works very well and you can, from then on, manage the different viscosities as you wish.

The liquid carrying capacity varies according to the type of chimney used. With the larger of the two, 4ml will be available and 4.5ml with the thinner.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Type of attachment of the drip-tip: Owner only
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Medium
  • Quality of the drip-tip present: Very good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

Why put a single drip-tip when you can propose two?

In the same logic of versatility, Fumytech therefore offers us two different tips that will allow everyone to make their choice. The first is a wide bore drip-tip, very large and with a large internal diameter, perfect for sucking all the vapor that can be. The second is thinner, slightly flared upwards and will concentrate the flavors better. Both share an identical quality, namely very pleasant in the mouth and not conveying the temperature that the Navigator can reach when pushed to its ends.

This is where the Navigator's design logic becomes clear. Two fireplaces, single or double coil plate, two drip-tips… we have two atomizers in one!

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

At this level, it is no longer a packaging, it is the treasure of Blackbeard!

Already the cardboard box holding magnetization sets the tone by being both very long and decorative, taking the elements of the marine mythology to better illustrate the name of the product.

Inside, there is a manual in English, right on the box, mainly graphic, which makes it understandable for everyone.

But that's not all. Judge by yourself :

  • The Navigator BX 1.5
  • The replacement chimney
  • The extra drip-tip.
  • A spare pyrex
  • Two sets of resistances presented in a small round box. A set of Framed Stapple in full SS. A set of Framed Staple in Ni80.
  • A BTR key
  • A cotton pad
  • A complete set of spare joints
  • Two sets of spare screws

Suffice to say that you get what you pay for and that the Navigator now appears to be an excellent deal, firstly by its versatility and secondly its endowment.

A must !

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

The Navigator is a bit like a Lego game. We think for three seconds about what we want to achieve and the editing is easily linked.

In single coil, using the thinnest chimney, closing off the second air inlet, opting for the thinnest drip-tip, we get a vape ranging from “classic” to very generous by juggling the two airflows available. Vape at 30W with a 0.8Ω assembly? It is possible, and the result, airy or tight to your taste, will always be very honest, both in terms of vapor and flavors.

In double coil, with the big chimney, the big drip-tip and all the wide open hatches, it's the storm guaranteed! At 0.1Ω between 120 and 150W, it even blows very hard, it sends as much vapor as a nuclear power station and it puts some of the drippers out of play!

And all the intermediate nuances you could dream of are accessible by juggling between your assembly, the available parts and the variety of possible airflows.

The rendering, in all cases, is to match. If you are rather tempted by the flavors, with the ideal configuration, you will get a great sweetness of the vape, preserved tastes and all the same beautiful clouds. IF it's the steam that makes you tripped, cast off, change your config and let's go for the frenzy ...

Downsides? Not really. You just have to pay attention to the dosage of cotton in the plunge holes provided for this purpose. Not enough material and you will have leaks through the lower airflow. I even advise you to tamp a little more than usual, not too much either, because the adjustment of the liquid flow helps, you will have little chance of getting dry hits. Let's say that, naturally, the Navigator tends to leak a little more than the other way around. But, unlike other products (those who fought with the Mini Goblin know what I'm talking about…), the installation of the capillary is quite intuitive and we quickly manage to stem the leaks by dosing judiciously.

Once mastered, the Navigator easily bends to all your whims and provides a balanced and very correct in all areas of the game.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Let's be clear, the Navigator, in this version BX 1.5, is a pavement in the pond!

Versatile to the extreme, well finished, offering a complete packaging, it easily manages to justify its purchase price which still leaves it, let's be honest, far removed from the pricing wanderings of certain high-end atos.

If you are looking for an atomizer that can do everything and does it very well, I invite you to board the Navigator that does not make empty promises. Certainly, we can have better in terms of flavors and also in terms of steam. But for that, it would take two different atos while this one offers all in one.

An unequivocal success that is well worth a deserved Top Ato!
