Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Vaptio is a young Chinese company which has not had the good fortune, for the moment, to meet a great echo in Europe. Although at the head of a nice range oscillating between starter-kits, various and varied atomizers and a few boxes, the manufacturer expects to use its latest born, the N1 240W, to find a place in the big international bath. And that falls rather well since it is this offspring which is in my feverish hands today.

The N1 240W is therefore a powerful box which will concern the most advanced of vapers and which presents the possibility of working using two batteries or three batteries. It offers various already known operating modes, such as variable power, temperature control, a Bypass function emulating a mechanical mod behavior as well as an interesting function for customizing the output voltage curve to which we will come back later. .

Available in four colors and offered at a price of around 65 €, the N1 is therefore in the mid-range and, in theory, the price / power ratio seems quite flattering. One aspect that we will check together immediately, if you don't mind.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

At first glance, the box imposes, a massiveness of good quality implying a perceived quality quite flattering. But the design has however been neat and the N1 is revealed all in soft curves on which come to cut very frank vertical and diagonal lines for an appearance that I would describe as “sporty”. Two red plastic inserts stand out against the metallic black background and lighten the silhouette and give it a form of aggression. Without wanting to be sexist, I would say that her look is perhaps intended more for a male audience, which is corroborated by her rather substantial size and weight.

The construction is based on a zinc alloy, a material widely used today by industrial modders and calls for no reproach. The manufacturer has taken care in the realization of his product and the assemblies are almost perfect. the finish uses a satin paint which seems to offer all the guarantees for maximum durability. And it is clear that after a month of use, the N1 shows no scratches, no matter how small. An important guarantee of reliability.

The box can therefore operate with two or three batteries, depending on your choice. To do this, two covers are offered in the pack and allow you to easily switch between the two possibilities. If the triple battery cover will give the box greater depth, it will also allow it to reach the promised 240W. With the dual battery configuration, the mod will send “only” 200W.

The hood placement system is also a great find. If it uses traditional magnets to hold on, it also uses a mechanical system, disengageable by a button located below the box. The result is a flawless outfit of the whole, without any movement of the bonnet being noticeable. When everything is fixed, it is for good. To remove the cover, just press the famous button and you're done. It's clever, devilishly effective and it allows the assembly to be properly locked, even if it will be necessary at the beginning to get used to it, the cover requiring clear manual guidance during its installation.

All buttons, switches and interface operators are made of plastic. But that doesn't swear in the aesthetics or in the finish and their handling is intuitive and very smooth. A slight audible “click” provides information on firing and the button travel is short. Ideal tactile ergonomics.

The grip is quite pleasant and, in triple battery configuration, we instantly think of a Reuleaux whose edges have been softened. In double battery, the box is naturally less imposing but falls quite well in the palm even if its size requires to have good legs. The weight, whatever the configuration chosen, is important in absolute terms but, relative to the size of the machine, it is all in all normal.

A beautiful color screen confirms the signature of the N1. It is very clear, even in strong ambient light and the colors allow you to prioritize information and integrate it well.

At the bottom-cap, diagonal bars camouflage the vents needed to cool the chipset, just below the micro-USB plug used to recharge your batteries in nomadic mode.

The results of this chapter are therefore very positive. The object is worked in its aesthetics and its finish, we see that nothing has been left to chance.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

To work, the N1 uses a proprietary chipset that largely ticks all the boxes of the usual modes of vape.

The variable power mode therefore allows you to go from 1 to 200W in double battery and from 1 to 240W in triple battery. The resistance use scale is not communicated anywhere but, having tested it, I know that the box triggers at 0.15Ω. The increment is done by watt, which I find very relevant for me on a high power object.

The temperature control mode natively uses four resistives: SS, titanium, nickel and nichrome. Of course, a TCR will allow you to implement your own specific resistive. The stroke is from 100 ° to 315 ° C. We can use the unit celsius or fahrenheit according to your choice.

A so-called “custom” mode will allow you to draw your own signal curve in volts and store three of them in the dedicated memory allocations. You can adjust up to 20 points of tension and thus define the pattern that suits you best. The very interesting idea of being able to memorize your curves will allow you to change the atomizer on the fly and, in two or three clicks, to choose the corresponding curve that you will have previously preset.

A bypass mode, already seen in other brands, allows you to vape “like” in mechanical mod and therefore to use the voltage of the batteries, without filter. Be careful, however, as the batteries are connected in series, the voltage quickly becomes quite high, especially with three batteries. In this mode, you can still take advantage of the chipset protections that we will detail below.

Further on, it's now ... 😉 The N1 offers the usual range of protections necessary for a safe vape: battery polarity, overheating of the chipset, short circuits, protection against too low voltages, against overload and a cut- adjustable off which goes up to 10 seconds. Suffice to say that no deadlock has been made on the subject.

The ergonomics are rather well thought out even if it will require a “start-up” of a few minutes to know all the parameters. Five clicks on the switch put the box in stand-by or in operation. Three clicks give access to a first menu which includes three items: OUT MOD which allows the choice between the different operating modes, SYSTEM which allows to choose the temperature unit, to activate the TCR and adjust it, to create and memorize personalized curves, calibrate the cut-off or standby and BACK which brings you back to normal display. The navigation is done simply, the buttons [+] and [-] allow to change the values and the switch to validate them. Here too, the colors of the screen are invaluable aids in visualizing the modifications.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The N1 arrives in a box of respectable size, solid cardboard 18 carats, which contains:

  • The box
  • The second cover for double battery use
  • A USB / Micro USB cable
  • A notice

Everything is very coherent, strong enough so that the box does not arrive in pieces and perfectly in line with the asking price. The instructions are multilingual and the part in French is correctly translated (a fact rare enough to be underlined) even if we can regret the total absence of technical information: usable output voltage, intensity, resistance scale…. Things not so trivial as that. Pity.

Appreciations in use

  • Transport facilities with the test atomizer: Nothing helps, requires a shoulder bag
  • Disassembly and cleaning facilities: Super simple, even blind in the dark!
  • Easy to change the batteries: Super simple, even blind in the dark!
  • Did the mod heat up? No
  • Has there been any erratic behavior after a day of use? No
  • Description of situations in which the product has experienced erratic behavior

Vapelier's rating in terms of ease of use: 4/5 4 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Ergonomic, powerful and configurable at will, the chipset is excellent, not only in terms of functionality but also in rendering. The signal, fully adjustable as we have seen, allows a sumptuous, precise but generous vape, which accommodates as well an RBA in a quiet vape as a wild dripper in an over-powerful vape. Whatever your style of vape, the N1 allows you to evolve in good conditions.

The rendering is very pleasant and efficient. We are on a real mod dedicated to confirmed vapers who will find here a quality of vape that meets their expectations. The latency is negligible, the power is always there, whatever the assembly and the possibilities of customization will do the rest if you want a harsher or more flexible signal. In any case, the chipset does not have much to envy the big names of the genre. It is placed, in terms of quality, in the leading pack, just behind Evolv and Yihie who are even more precise… but not for the same price.

In hand, the N1 is quite comfortable even if its dimensions, in particular with triple battery, and its weight may bother some users with small palmar appendages. To be reserved for large pattasses and plan a bag for transport!

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Vaptio could well create the surprise with the N1 which manages without difficulty to slip into the niche of the big boxes without having to be ashamed of the comparison with the tenors of the category. For that, it would be necessary that the wholesalers and the distributors mobilize themselves to make known this mark which suffers, it must be admitted, from a deficit of notoriety by us. And that's a shame because this product really makes you want to know more about a dynamic brand, which has no complex in attacking the biggest.

As far as I'm concerned, I crack a Top Mod objectively deserved by a score certainly not new but perfectly interpreted with a little crush for a finish that seems unalterable and a convincing rendering.
