Admittedly, vaping has turned in on itself a lot over the past three years. Riding on a deserved success and pushed by vapers happy to participate in the first health evolution of the 21st century, it has developed, has become more and more technological, perfectly assuming its transformation from chrysalis to butterfly. Temperature control, powers pushing back the limits that we thought we had acquired, growing autonomy, steam galore, blessed be the geek vaping, like you, like me.
Along the way, she would have almost forgotten her initial goal, the one that allowed her very existence: to make people stop smoking. Indeed, how can you not want to unscrew your head when you sometimes see that beginners enter shops and come out with a sub-ohm clearomizer, a 200W box and a nicotine e-liquid in 3? How to understand that almost 70% of the commercial offer is intended to seduce confirmed or expert vapers by leaving the minimal portion of smokers (14 million in France all the same!) In the face of prehistoric kits, developing as much pleasure as a Waterman chewed?
Fortunately, that time seems to be over and 2017 will have seen the rebirth of equipment finally adapted to smokers and up-to-date in terms of safety and benefits. Finally, the tenors of the sector are going back to their drawing boards and offering discreet, MTL and easy-to-learn kits.
blu we are going out myblu which is fully entering this new era, one which will undoubtedly see, in the more or less long term, the disappearance of smoked tobacco. Taking up to do this the Austrian Von Erl and his My who had made a strong impression when it was released, the American giant is putting all its force to democratize the vape, both in terms of ease of use and distribution network because this myblu will be available not only in specialist shops but also at tobacconists. Oops, sorry to have dropped a bad word…. but I have passed the age of inventing scapegoats. When I was a smoker, just like you, I was very happy to find in my small village of 300 souls a tobacconist who sold me what I needed. I was not a victim, I was only my own executioner. I was, alone, the architect of my own health failure and I do not need anyone to take care of it for me.
La myblu is therefore presented as a small aluminum tool that works according to the principle of capsule systems. So you have a 350mAh battery that sends 3.9V to a capsule containing a resistance of 1.3Ω and 2ml of liquid. All for a price of 20 €. A negligible investment when you have the desire and the will to free yourself from your chains of smoke to take your destiny back in hand.
The promise seems tempting but, beginner's material or not, we will have to go to the test bench to verify this! 😉

The first of the qualities of the myblu is its lightness. 20 grams in the hand, which is to say that the weight is not a problem, to put it mildly. However, we still have a pretty sexy, small and discreet black aluminum body. The style of tool that smokers who squint at our half-kilo exotic set-ups with apprehension may crave.
The contained size and the feel of the anodization are other strengths that make the object easy to hold and pleasant in the hand. Almost invisible in a pocket, it takes up much less space than a pack of cigarettes and the lighter that goes with it. Make no mistake, this is an undeniable strong point.
The design is attractive by its formal simplicity and offers a fairly marked elegance in the mouth. 18mm wide for 9 thick by 10cm long, almost a traditional cigarette, beginners will not be disturbed in their gestures, that's still a plus!
The concept is successful here because there is no switch and even fewer settings. The vape is triggered by suction and the vape rendering is adjustable by the mouth by sucking more or less long depending on the volume of vapor that we want to suck. An extreme simplicity therefore, which goes in the direction of a use without fuss.
In terms of finish, we are on an entry-level product that exudes reliability. We could have waited for a proposal of other more fun or more classy colors to seduce those who want to vape differently and we hope that the manufacturer will offer a more substantial range in the future. We must not deny the importance of choice in order to meet all desires or needs. However, in this chapter, this will be the only downside that I will note, the rest being more than correct in view of the very aggressive price of the myblu.

La myblu is part of the so-called “capsule system” devices like the Bo by JWell or the Koddo Pod by French Liquide. The principle of operation is simple. We have a 350mAh battery which is not much for you and me but is sufficient for a smoker in transit. This battery accommodates capsules that contain a resistance to 1.3Ω and 2ml of liquid to choose from eleven taste proposals that we will review very soon. So just clip the capsule in the housing provided for this purpose, in any direction and voila, you can vape.
The immense advantage of this type of system is the simplicity of operation. No resistance to change, we throw the capsule when it is empty. No hazardous handling, the tank is well sealed and the contactors located at the bottom of the device naturally find their place. Conversely, some may regret the waste generated, but it will still be better and more easily recyclable than twenty cigarette butts.
The capsules are available in pairs for € 7. A high rate in absolute terms but that we will sift later by a rather impressive fact: the low consumption of liquids by the device.
When you vape, a blue LED, iconic of the manufacturer's color, lights up at the end of the myblu to indicate that it is operating correctly at each suction. When the color turns orange, you have less than 20% charge left. When the led turns red, you have less than 5% charge left, it's time to seriously think about recharging! To do this, use the supplied USB / Micro USB cord and, given the capacity of the proprietary battery, it takes around 20 minutes for a proper recharge. During this time, the LED turns red and goes out naturally at the end of the charging cycle. Simple and effective since the device being passthrough, you can continue to vape at the same time!
The protections are not really necessary for this type of battery but there is a cut-off of ten seconds to avoid any excessive discharge as well as a device for de-energizing in the event of a short circuit. The led flashes five times and the device turns off, indicating a problem. It will suffice to change the capsule and do a quick cleaning of the battery contactors to return to normal.

The packaging is simple but complete. All the necessary is there to begin to vape immediately.
In a blue cardboard box, we find the myblu, a “classic” taste capsule (translate tobacco for those who still speak academic French) as well as the USB / Micro USB cord for recharging.
A notice in French is provided and explains perfectly the operation of the system.
Nothing to complain about, for the price, it's perfect.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
As you might expect, the draw is tight and paves the way for a perfectly reassuring MTL vape for a first-time pilot. The aspiration trigger is successful and manages to imitate, by its calculated latency, the fact of smoking a conventional cigarette. In addition, the vape is perfectly adaptable depending on the length of the puff. A short suction will give a low volume of vapor while a longer suction will develop a more consistent vapor. Here again, we are really on a cigarette format and the line of behavior of the myblu was very worked so that the smoker does not find himself in unknown land.
The energy autonomy is quite correct. Even if 350mAh is not an absolute impressive number, the power of the device and its low intensity mean that the capacity is totally adapted to the intended target. Even in the event of a dry outage, the recharging time and the possibility of continuing to vape plugged in means that the lack does not have time to set in. On the other hand, for pure nomads who do not have an energy source available during their working day, a second backup battery will still be a plus.
The autonomy in cash is, for its part, downright bluffing. By vaping all day, I can hardly finish the capsule. It's been a long time since I had vaped 2ml of juice in one day !!!
The proposed nicotine levels are three in number, in 0, 8 and 16mg / ml. The satiety effect is achieved even for a heavy smoker with the highest rate. We could have hoped for a rate of 19mg / ml for the most addicted and an intermediate rate of 12mg / ml. As for the nicotine level 0, it seems to me less relevant given the stated objective of myblu : stop smoking.
In use, the weight and size of the object are undeniable advantages. Discretion and lightness make myblu a pleasant companion of vape. The grip is easy and ergonomic. It seems hard to do better.
A tobacco flavored liquid is provided in the kit. Dry and very slightly sweet, it is quite relevant for a first contact with the vape. Here we have a blend of tobacco, mixing blond and brown, with chocolate and woody notes. Pleasant and realistic, it is one of the strengths of the kit and, if it does not suit your taste, ten other taste proposals exist to best suit your desires.
After a week of testing, there is no leakage. The device has been seriously thought out and the seal of the capsule reservoir is simply perfect. As for the mouthpiece, it is pleasant in the mouth and greatly contributes to the pleasure felt.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Difficult, very difficult not to be conquered by the myblu… The tight price, the quality of the system, its reliability and the simple fact that we are in the presence of a kit really adapted to the needs of a smoker are all intrinsic qualities which appeal, both on paper, and in the reality.
The test is therefore more than conclusive and we have here a beginner's kit that we can recommend to a smoking friend without a second thought. The autonomy in energy is adapted to the situation and the autonomy in liquid is very interesting. In addition, there is already a good range of tastes available which will be further developed in the future to meet all needs.
What deserves a Top Mod and relaunch the steam engine, the one that will ensure that many smokers will join cloud lovers until the scheduled extinction of smoked tobacco.
