What's up ? The "S" you tell me. Yes, but it is above all at the level of the plateau that the changes have taken place. Nice improvements which also allowed me to vape at 150 watts without any difficulty. Here, the tone is set, this Mutation x V4S enters the team of “performers” with enormous capacities while keeping a template and a look in accordance with its previous version.
The exterior looks identical to its predecessor, with its tapered drip-tip, diamond-shaped (or finned) tank airholes and openings at its base, but the top has changed. Although the shape of the tank and the air holes under the resistors also have the same shape and identical positioning, the pads are different with a large insulator, which changes a lot of things for a price range that remains very accessible , we will see that next.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
At the quality level, it is the amount of material that I feel a little sorry, especially the lower part of the tank is very fine, even if it is compensated when the atomizer is closed. Beware of falls when you remove this part a little fragile, which may be deformed. Steel is nevertheless of good quality, the cuts are sharp and correctly polished.
At the thread of the top-cap and the adapter, it's a real pleasure. Only the one in PMMA of the extension is a little recalcitrant at times.
Although the joints of the base are thin, their number (by three) allows a flawless maintenance of the upper part of the atomizer. A great pleasure.
The engravings are perfect, with on the tank, the logo in the form of tribal wings and the name of the atomizer "Mutation x V4S". Below, we find the name with the serial number. Clean engravings and well associated with the style of the product.
Let's go a little on the plateau part. In addition to having a thin reserve of liquid provided by a well-machined 0.5ml tub, I take my hat off to the designer because it's not enough to follow the fashion with Velocity trays but it is important to ensure its proper functioning. , efficiency and durability. Here, the negative pole is built in the mass, which allows an excellent solidity but also a distribution of heat evacuated uniformly.
The material constituting the positive pole is also very sufficient for the solidity of the pad and the distribution of heat, because the insulation is so enormous under the pad, that it does not transmit the residual heat flows between the materials. and thus avoids the risk of hot spots on very high powers. The positive stud and its insulator are nested one inside the other, in a "U" shape so that when unscrewing the pin, nothing moves. Here is a designer who understood everything!
This insulator turns out to be incredibly efficient, because those who sometimes steam at 150W with low resistive value assemblies, notice the phenomenon of small flame that often forms on the side of the positive pole and creates these hot spots up to melt the insulation. Here the problem is solved. You just have to be careful to screw / tighten the legs.
The airflow settings can be made extremely precisely at two different angles of the flow, under the resistors and / or on the sides.
The pin is adjustable and the silver-plated copper screw ensures good contact.

The functional characteristics start with a thread adjustable pin with very good conductivity.
On the plate, the studs are spaced 1 cm apart and have two holes with a diameter of 2 mm. This allows large assemblies in double coil without any difficulty for the realization.
The insulation, particularly effective, gives the opportunity to vape on insolent powers and have a reliable atomizer over time. Associated with adjustable airflows, the production of steam and the flavors are considerably favored.
A PMMA extension is provided to enlarge the combustion chamber, which allows the heat to be distributed more and therefore to obtain a less hot vapor although the dissipation is already excellent. A reserve of liquid is possible with a tank, however limited but appreciable.

The Drip-top is in black delrin, its size is medium with a conical shape and the mouth opening makes 10mm for an aerial vape.
This proprietary drip-top can be replaced by the supplied adapter to associate it with an 510 drip-tip of your choice.
The top-cap + adapter is screwed onto the ring at the fin, intended for adjusting the airflow.
The quality is good with a very special comfort for this conical shape, typical of Mutations x.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
The Mutation x V4S is delivered without the mounted screws but which you find in the accessories. Its conditioning is quite basic. In a simple cardboard box, the ato is housed in a black foam covered with a velvet effect, accompanied by:

- Spare seals
- Plastic covers to close the airflow on the base
- A transparent extension in PMMA
- A black top-cap to adapt a drip-tip to the 510 format

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
This dripper offers us the possibility of mounting a double coil in a fun way using large diameter or multi-strand wires. The spacing of the studs gives the possibility of achieving a long enough resistance, of 1cm to keep a more than interesting heating surface.
The tank is a more appreciated for a dripper, which allows us to feed the wick longer without the need to replenish. This being the case, with large assemblies, this reserve remains insufficient.
The airflows are well thought out because some close independently of others without any difficulty. We go from a very aerial atomizer to an almost closed atomizer with precision. The airholes located on the base, can be closed with the clear plastic covers that are provided but are not always obvious to place and, personally, I find that it spoils the taste.
On a 0.05Ω and 150W assembly (yes, it's hot potato, not the ato, but the assembly for my batteries ... not to be reproduced at home or if you really know what you are doing ;-)) . I vaped without feeling the slightest sensation of heat but a lukewarm vapor which was even more attenuated with the extension.
A real wonder with which I obtained an incredible amount of vapor. For the flavors, I remained reasonable with a double coil of 0.6Ω for a quieter vape with a really good taste. The Mutation is a real pleasure.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
The Mutation x V4S dripper is a superb success, a version which mainly improves its plateau to allow larger assemblies. The isolation of the positive pad is, in my opinion, the most notable surprise because it avoids rotating the axis. In addition, on very large powers, unfortunate accidents with hot spots are much rarer.
The flow of air is such that the flavors are increased tenfold with exceptional results.
In short, a good performance for this ato which keeps the measurements of its predecessor, while greatly improving the content with an almost identical vapor and an even better flavor, without the central stud, to give a different air circulation which improves the result.
