HCigar is a Chinese company, like many others based in Shenzhen, in the south of China, an industrial city with a port in the China Sea, very close to Hong Kong, a small town of 7 million souls , as we find a number in this country. The brand was born in 2011 and fans of mascara will remember a certain Angelus or a Zod ... Another time.
Today HCigar produces a whole slew of atos, boxes and has even joined an American collaborator of planetary notoriety: Evolv. It is moreover in the USA, in California that was designed (pronounced dizayné) the dripper of which we will speak in this column.
It was during the VapEvent 2016 that Sylvie gave me the opportunity to test it, and I must say that I did not pray to acquire it at the low price of 20 €. A price that seems to correspond to the price charged by the shops that have it for sale.
As we will see this dripper is well worth them, it is of design, inspired by another little monster of the genre: the Royal Hunter mini, in other words, not just anything.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
It exists in various colors as shown in the picture below, that of the test is SS (Stainless Steel) all stainless steel (SS 316), decorated with a decoration finely engraved on the body (the atomization chamber).
Its weight, mounted in double coil and equipped with capillaries, is 26G (for comparison in the same configuration the Royal Hunter mini weighs 19). It consists of 4 main parts, a proprietary drip-tip, a top-cap (AFC), a heating chamber (AFC) and a Velocity style plate with a gold-plated “adjustable” 510 connection.
Its outside diameter is 22mm, its height (including drip-tip) from the base (without the 510 connection) is 25mm (27 for the RH mini). The tray offers a distance between the mounting pylons (at the fasteners), 10mm, wires up to 1,8mm thick will be accepted.
This dripper is well finished, the different parts fit together perfectly and the O-rings are effective. The combination of airflow settings recalls the aesthetics of the RH mini, but here we can adjust independently the two arrivals, it can have its importance, we'll see why lower

Reviewer's comments on functional features
The Maze is a pure dripper, without artifice. It has a double system of independent airflow adjustments, which distinguishes it from its predecessor with a very similar configuration, we will come back to this later. Its Velocity type plate is equipped with hexagon head clamping screws (Alen), 6 air inlet vents (4mm in diameter each) under the resistors, which find their source by an oblong light of 2,5 x 2mm at the edge, above the chamber assembly joints, at the resistors (see photo). The 6,5mm deep juice reserve tank allows a filling of 5,5ml taking into account the capillary retention capacity.
The top-cap which accommodates the drip-tip is removable (for filling) and is also used to adjust the side air inlets of the atomization chamber, by rotation. The upper part is “ergonomically” designed to facilitate the grip between the fingers, in order to operate a precise adjustment by holding the body with the other hand so as not to disturb the bottom.
The positive 510 brass connection is gold-plated, it assembles the positive insulated pylon of the tray, but it can be considered adjustable to a few tenths of a millimeter, however it exceeds one mm in its factory configuration.

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip
The drip-tip is proprietary, consisting of 2 materials, stainless steel for assembly and interior, and the resin that forms the mouthpiece. Its external diameter is 12mm, it measures only 8mm without counting the threaded part. You have 6,5mm suction diameter is more than enough for an aerial vape.
In the mouth, with the choice of resin material, we remain close to the sensations of glass, heat dissipation is as effective as with the latter. An adapter to insert your 510 tips is provided in the package.
The decoration is reminiscent of mother-of-pearl, it is both sober and pleasing to the eye.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
The package is classic, in its cardboard box your dripper sits upstairs in a semi-rigid foam, under which you will find a pocket containing: 3 O-rings and 4 replacement screws, an Alen key, as well as an adapter for drip-tip 510.
There is not really a notice but a descriptive document which details the different parts of the ato on which is photographed a view of the disassembled object. It's a bit chick as a manual, but the price for this dripper is also very measured, say that you had a good idea to trust the Vapelier to know a little more before breaking.
Appreciations in use
- Transport facilities with mod of test configuration: Ok for an inside jacket pocket (no deformations)
- Disassembly and cleaning facilities: Easy, even standing in the street, with a simple tissue paper

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
The Maze is in its element in ULR editing you guessed it. The Velocity style tray offers proven ease of installation for a few months now, if you add an 1,8 mm resistive thickness introduction capability, you can consider any multi-strand setup and get down very close to the short circuit I do not recommend it but it is possible.
Given its reserve of juice, however, it is reasonable to consider a 0,2 ohm vape as a viable and effective low limit for this atomizer. It is not really a big cloud maker, its particularity lies in its independent settings of the two sources of air intake.
This is also what will give it a formidable precision and great finesse for the adjustment of the heat returned, and taste sensations. The practical side of the possible closure of low arrivals, is that a refill juice a little hearty, will not risk inevitably end up on your pants or in your box.
You have a total airflow opening of 32mm²! enough to cool and produce a nice cloud of vapor. You therefore have the possibility of reducing this total opening to 0 by going through all the intermediaries. At the top, however, you only manage 6mm² in 2 times three side holes, but it's perfect for tasting, once the AFC of the base is closed.
Personally I appreciate it at 0,3ohm, and power consistent with the juice to vape, the AFC allow me precisely this thermal refinement, I rely a lot to test and evaluate the juice. At no time I felt excessive heating, even though the lips are quickly in contact with the top-cap, I avoid the 150W is also worth noting.
Cleaning can not be easier and like any dripper, you can change your capillaries quickly, taking care to operate a dry burn coils to unload them deposits too. (a water passage and brushing will remove any micro-materials that may have separated from the wires).

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Here we are at the end of this review. The Maze is a good dripper, very well designed on an AFC plan, this given its price, allows it to position itself as a Top Ato in its genre. Simplicity combined with a good quality of workmanship, a pleasant design and discreet measurements, make it a remarkable companion, quite at ease on a meca tube like the hybrid Nemesis.
