Reviewer comments on business characteristics

The Kensei is a samurai dressed in heavy armor who wields the nodachi, a long version of the katana. But it is also the name that Vandy Vape chose for its latest creation.

Vandy Vape continues at a steady pace and today offers us a double coil atomizer, with a maximum tank of 4ml, a V-shaped post and finally an original airflow system.

A new RTA which completes the impressive “RTA armada” offered by the Chinese brand and always in a very reasonable price range.

So let's go and discover this new vaping warrior to verify that he is well worthy of this great family.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

The Kensei is not much of a samurai. 24,4mm in diameter, it comes within the new standard arrived with this generation of air tank atomizers coming to compete with drippers on the terrain of the tasty cloud.

It takes lines already seen on some atomizers of the brand such as the Kylin, for example. What catches the eye is the imposing 810 drip-tip in rather pretty red resin. It is associated with a top-cap adorned with a sort of inverted crown engraved in relief.

Then come the pyrex tanks. One is a straight pyrex tube which gives a very conventional look to our RTA, the capacity in this configuration goes to 2ml.

The second follows the new fashion bubble tank, it transforms the silhouette of our fighter and suddenly gives it a more unique look.

The base is equipped with an airflow ring pierced with two large cyclops-type openings. Some reliefs come to decorate the design of the base of the atomizer.

The bell is dressed with the name of the atomizer, the latter in a Japanese style Graph typography.

Hidden under the bell, a V-shaped post is framed by two diffusers which constitute the airflow system.

The set is, as often with this mark, quite suitable. The machining is good, the threads are satisfactory and the joints in place do the job. A product of good quality as is customary with Vandy Vape.

Functional features

  • Connection type: 510
  • Adjustable positive stud? Yes, through an adjustment by thread, the assembly will be flush in all cases.
  • Presence of air flow regulation? Yes, and variable
  • Diameter in mm maximum of the air regulation possible: 10
  • Minimum diameter in mm of the air regulation possible: 0.2
  • Positioning of the air regulation: Below and benefiting the resistances
  • Atomization chamber type: Bell type
  • Heat dissipation of the product: Normal

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The Kensei is of course equipped with everything you need. To begin with, our atomizer fills from the top, the top-cap unscrews to give us comfortable access to the tank which can thus be filled easily with most bottles.

As long as we are in the “juice”, we also find on this new product a system to control the arrival of liquid. To do this, we rotate the tank while holding the base in place to vary the two openings at the foot of the bell.

Two tanks, one of 2ml and one of 4ml of capacity, easily interchangeable thanks to a specific tool, are provided in the pack.

Let's continue the technical discovery by talking about the assembly plate. A tray intended exclusively for the double coil. A system made up of two posts forming a sort of V. Each post is provided with two holes in which the cable is blocked with a screw.

Finally, we have the airflow system. Seen from the outside, nothing special, two beautiful slits whose size is varied using the airflow ring. But it is at the level of the plateau that we discover the originality of this part. Indeed, under each coil, there is an air inlet of good size equipped with a diffuser. This diffuser is named by the manufacturer "bottom honeycomb", it ensures an optimal distribution of the air flow over the entire surface of our coils.

A product that is not missing anything but does not add anything really new except perhaps the airflow system even if it seems to me to have already seen more or less similar things.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Type of drip-tip attachment: Owner but passage to 510 through an adapter not supplied
  • Presence of a drip-tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Medium
  • Quality of the drip-tip present: Very good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

As for the drip-tip, it is not one, but two mouthpieces that are offered to you by the Chinese brand.

The first is a 810 wide boron resin trend, it brings a touch of color and, moreover, it is perfectly suited to cloud chasing. The second is Delrin, still in 810 but slightly shorter, black, it is more discreet.

Finally, there is an 510 adapter in the kit for those who wish to use their favorite drip-tip by turning our atomizer on a wiser vape.

As usual with Vandy Vape, there is everything you need, there is nothing to add.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

To introduce itself, the Kensei Vandy Vape offers us a transparent plastic box of great simplicity.

Nestled in a little plastic support, we find our atomizer, the second drip-tip and the bubble tank.

On the floor below, we find the pocket of gaskets and screws. There is also a practical tool for removing the tank and the 510 adapter. In this small space, we find the instructions which are rather clear and translated into French.

A complete package in a rather simplistic packaging but you get what you pay for.

Appreciations in use

  • Transport facilities with mod of test configuration: Ok for an inside jacket pocket (no deformations)
  • Disassembly and cleaning facilities: Easy but requires a workspace
  • Filling facilities: Easy, even standing in the street
  • Easy to change resistors: Easy but requires a workspace to lose nothing

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

In terms of use, our Kensei is quite practical.

The filling is done without any problem with most bottles on the market, the system is more traditional but it is quite suitable.

The coils are placed without too much difficulty, no crossing of wires, a generous space capable of accommodating coils of good diameters. Cotton finds its place in the small vats placed on either side of the assembly posts.

It will just correct the cotton to avoid any risk of leakage.

But if you do not behave well in this exercise, you can rely on the juice control system to limit the breakage. Indeed, the system makes it possible to effectively regulate the circulation of the liquid.

To close this chapter, the airflow adjustment by ring is precise and the diffuser system is obviously well thought out, we indeed have a beautiful homogeneous and very tasty vapor.

A product that does not suffer from any major defect, you just have to keep in mind that it is a double coil, which can represent a difficulty if you are new to rebuilding.

Recommendations for use

  • With which type of mod is it advisable to use this product? Electronics AND Mechanics
  • What mod model is it recommended to use this product with? For me a double-battery mecha box in parallel or a good electro capable of reaching at least 50 / 60W.
  • With which type of EJuice is it advisable to use this product? All liquids without problem
  • Description of the test configuration used: Associated with the Mech Pro and the VT75C Hcigar with a double clapton coil coils to 0.20Ω
  • Description of the ideal configuration with this product: It is you who will find your ideal, but you will have to keep in mind that our atomizer is a strict double coil, so choose a solid box.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Vandy Vape once again presents us with a rather well-designed product. Indeed the Kensei is really successful.

The design is correct, it is based on stylistic elements already seen on other atomizers of the brand. It adopts a bubble tank and an 810 resin drip-tip, two very trendy elements at the moment.

It is efficient and practical. Easy to fill thanks to a basic top filling system. The tray is also quite practical, even if you have no other choice but to mount it in double coils.

The most interesting aspect remains its airflow system. The setting itself is nothing special, it's just a traditional ring but, at the level of the coils, there are specific diffusers which distribute the air over the entire resistance. This system is not totally innovative, I have already seen quite similar things but, in any case, the one on the Kensei does the job well. It allows to have a homogeneous vapor and promotes a good expression of flavors.

If we add to all this a complete pack and quite cheap, the Kensei is a good atomizer.

We can only regret the fact that our newcomer is a double coil strict, it necessarily limit its versatility.

In conclusion, the Kensei is a good product (as often with this brand) which is aimed at advanced vapers who master double coil assemblies and who like direct vaping on high but reasonable powers (40 to 80W).

Good Vape.

Vince.
