Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Geek Vape has the wind in its sails and it blows very hard. After a Tsunami, a Griffin and an Avocado which have made vaping geeks happy in recent months, here is the time for changes and they are important. Indeed, the Tsunami comes out in 24mm, the Avocado too and the Griffin finishes its moult in 25mm! A change in size, made to erase the rare defect of these atomizers, that of autonomy. And that the one who has never filled his Avocado more than five times during the day throw the first stone at me.

Remember, we stayed on a Griffin unanimously praised for its rendering, both in abundant vapor and in flavor. Well, here is his son, taller than his father, in accordance with the natural cycle and which promises delights, both in rendering and in autonomy. Finally !

Geek Vape Griffin 25 burst

Note that the Griffin 25 exists in two versions. The one we are studying together is the so-called “standard” version, if an atomizer of this size can be considered as standard. Namely, a more imposing copy of the first Griffin of the name, with some improvements all the same. There is also a so-called “Top Air Flow” version, which additionally includes, for approximately eight additional euros, an adjustable airflow on the top-cap which is redirected towards the resistors, thus helping to make the draft even more airy and, on may think so, a flavor / vapor ratio more balanced towards the second.

That said, it's very good since everyone will be able to find their ato and their vape, between these two identical and yet different models.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

A beautiful baby!

Size, weight and diameter are the measure of the object and determine a capacity of about 6ml which is very real for the moment. Of course, its gigantism requires a mod of the same barrel and it's a safe bet that the set-up will not go unnoticed ... Do not even hope to place it on a Pico or a Mini Volt, unless you want to give blessings urbi et orbi on Saint Peter's Square ...

On the other hand, in terms of perceived quality, we are dealing with a product that does not cheat. The materials are qualitative and relatively thick. The threads slide quietly. The screws of the pestles are perfect, in 316L having undergone an improvement of their hardness by a cryogenic process.

The positive pin is gold plated, to maintain good conductivity but also avoid corrosion. The pyrex tank is of great thickness but has a large surface, unprotected and will therefore be sensitive to the slightest drop. The joints do their job, without sticking or detaching.

A great job has been done by Geek Vape on the construction and machining.

Geek Vape Griffin 25 unboxing

The finish is very correct for the price. Nice and well-crafted engravings dot the object. On the top-cap, the name of the manufacturer. Under the bottom-cap, the usual elements such as serial number, manufacturing data as well as the signature of the designer. Finally, on the bell of the evaporation chamber, two black engravings, one depicting a griffin, a mythological animal, a sort of mixture of different creatures (eagle, lion, horse, baboon, ladybug, cross out unnecessary references…. ) and the other, illustrating in the style of a signature, the name of the product: Griffin.

The aesthetics are successful. Massive but made nice by the presence of a notched ring and a low thickness of the top-cap. Very close to the original Griffin but in addition hut since the height of the ato does not vary, only the diameter increases.

A first contact perfectly successful.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Unlike the Griffin RTA that we knew, the Griffin 25 offers us the possibility of being mounted in single or double-coil. Thus, a ceramic piece, very Avocadian inspiration, makes its appearance, allowing to condemn at the same time the second airhole, two plunge holes and to serve incidentally as space limiter for the atomization chamber.

We find all the elements that made the success of the previous opus: an airflow ring which uses internal notches and which is therefore intuitive and easy to operate, the famous notched ring which is used to manage the flow of liquid in order to adapt the capillary action according to the viscosity of the liquid used and the removable metal ring which keeps the ends of the cotton in the plunge holes. More and more RDTAs using these techniques to their advantage, it doesn't sound really new anymore, but why modify what otherwise works very well?

There is a velocity type plate which I welcome in passing for those who, like me, are equipped with two left hands. Suffice to say that it greatly simplifies the assembly and allows, moreover, multiple possibilities of use in terms of resistive wires especially when, as here, the plate is of good size.

The atomizer remains easy to disassemble and reassemble. The filling is done from the top, which involves closing the airflow and juice-flow before proceeding to avoid any risk of leaks. All these gestures are intuitive and made simple by high-performance machining and simple design. I particularly like the juice flow adjustment, the ring rotating the bell to position the juice inlets facing the plunge holes, in part or in whole. Easier to manage and more obvious as a result than a bell raising system in my humble opinion.

Drip-Tip Features

  • Drip tip type: 510 Only
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Short
  • Quality of the drip-tip present: Very good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

We have a 1cm high delrin drip-tip, offline, for an internal outlet diameter of 10.7mm. It's short but without excess, straight, pleasant in the mouth and sufficiently open to comfortably convey the flow of vapor which, passing through a 6.5mm internal diameter chimney, will be comfortable when arriving in the drip-tip. The drip-tip is adapted to the Griffin 25, it does its job very honestly.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

Delivered in a hard plastic box, the Griffin offers serious packaging but not without flaws.

In the register of qualities, one finds the accessories which are numerous and interesting:

  1. A spare glass tank (frosted, that one)
  2. A T-screwdriver consisting of two BTRs and a Phillips head.
  3. A handful of green, red, black and translucent gaskets to start making your Christmas garlands.
  4. An adapter for drip-tip 510
  5. A ceramic chamber reducer plus replacement silicone

Nothing is missing!

In the register of defects, we still and always regret the noticeable absence of instructions and it is hopeless quite simply because it confines this type of product to seasoned vapers, forgetting that among the lot of potential customers, there may be - to be more recent vapers who would dream of being interested in the reconstructable but who will not be helped to do so, at least by the manufacturers. No one, no one.

Appreciations in use

Vapelier's note on ease of use: 4 / 5 4 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Tested in stainless steel 316 in single microcoil for approximately 0.7Ω of result, the result is bluffing. Powerful and very good provider of vapor, the atomizer does not cheat with flavors. We go into the details of an e-liquid with ease and we can send it 40W without flinching, including on the House Blend in 100% VG that I used for the test. The juice flow adjustment works wonders and, even by obscuring the plunge holes by half, we do not take any dry-hits.

Tested in double coil in clapton for a result of 0.3Ω, we change the vape. The vape is round, abundant, the vapor begins to invade the room and the density taken in the throat is surprising. And yet, even with the airflow wide open, you don't lose an ounce of flavor. Really very surprising and above all conclusive. However, we remain limited to around 60W (with a 0.3 double clapton assembly), not because the ato cannot accept more but because the airflow does not cool the vapor enough. A few splashes of liquid on the tongue are there to warn us that we no longer have our feet and that it is time to come back to the edge.

Geek Vape Griffin 25 double coil

The assembly is extremely simple and allows large coil diameters. The only real difficulty, if we can speak of difficulty (we are not on a Mini Goblin 😉), is to trim the mustaches of your cotton a little so that the ends go to the bottom of the plunge holes without clogging them. It's easy, I can sign it for you! From the first attempt, I got a perfect result. This atomizer decided to make your life easier and it does it very well. The proof is with this removable ring that is screwed back, once the cotton is engaged, to keep the capillary in place. Perfect !

I add an absolute zero leak in the bag of tricks! Indeed, subject to filling as I detailed above, the Griffin 25 never leaks. Stayed in bed all night, not a drop. Stayed up all day, not a drop! Nothing to say. When it's good, it's good!

The mood ticket of the reviewer

When an atomizer is easy to live.

When it is very well built.

When it looks great, both in vapor and flavor.

When he has a comfortable autonomy.

And that it costs around forty euros.

Well, the most misguided reviewer in the world can only close it and give him a Top Ato.

There it's done !
