Reviewer comments on business characteristics

It is a little behind the competition that Aspire finally gives us a mod in the form of a variable power box. Reasonable, both in terms of pricing and in terms of the maximum power offered, the ESP 30W will play the sexy-attitude card to try to find a place in an already busy market segment.

So here we have a steel / carbon box, of a very nice oblong shape, wearing the colors dear to the brand and already used on these previous mods of the CF series. The price is not prohibitive but if we relate it to the power offered, it is still at the top of the table especially if we compare it to the IStick 30W which is almost 10 € below for the same power.

But the ESP 30W is not devoid of assets that it intends to expose in order to make the difference.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

The ESP 30W is therefore mainly made of two materials: black tinted stainless steel for the bottom and top caps and carbon fiber for the body. The result is an elegant and sympathetic appearance, the general finish of which is very correct. Unlike some competitors, the mod seems made to last over time and a few days in my company as a clumsy patent will not have caused any scratches or aesthetic inconvenience. This is a good omen.

The switch is very nice. Small in size, it has been the subject of a good ergonomic job because it falls well under the index. A reassuring little click greets the pressure of the finger and the stroke is short and flexible.

The steel adjustment wheel is very well made and is simply used to increase or decrease the power. So, no need for the eternal “+” and “-“ buttons: turn the dial and the vaporette will come! I note in passing that its action is hard enough so that the setting does not change by itself when putting in a pocket for example. The scale of the setting goes from watt to watt, which is undoubtedly frustrating for fans of the “in between” who vap at 17.3W or 12.8W but still seem consistent with the use of the dial.

The ESP 30W offers great simplicity of operation and an excellent feeling in the hand due to its particular shape which perfectly matches paws of all sizes.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The features of the ESP 30W all go in the same direction: offer the possibility of vape without taking the lead. So, we don't have anything very complex here. We screw an atomizer into the self-adjusting 510 connection, we click 5 times to turn on the box, we turn the adjustment wheel to obtain the desired power and we vape. Period. The box does not tell the time, does not cook pasta and does not connect to wifi on Youporn. Too bad for the geeks but so much the better for those who like above all to vape simply without going crazy trying to understand the why and how. There is something for everyone and the ESP 30W will satisfy users fond of simplicity.

I indicated that the maximum compatibility with an atomizer was 23mm after testing with an Expromizer. In truth, the atomizer becomes a little protruding on the sides of the mod but very slightly. The ideal compatibility will therefore be with a 22mm diameter atomizer but know that the 23mm also pass, without aesthetic or technical concern.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The box is delivered in a hard cardboard box conducive to protecting it from any accident during delivery. This box also contains a micro usb / usb cord to recharge the box. And that's all! The manufacturer has built his instructions on the back of the box which is not bad but also has some negative aspects.

On the one hand, the operation of the mod is so simple that we can indeed do without a more elaborate manual. On the other hand, the positioning of the mod makes it accessible to beginners who would still need to be accompanied in their first steps, if only by recommendations of precautions for use. And, on the third side, (I can't help it, I'm a little triangular like a boy 😕…), I regretted that full technical specifications were not present in the packaging such as the maximum intensity output for example that I also searched in vain on the manufacturer's site.

But, I grant you, it's looking for the little beast. On the other hand (with that, it will be four), that's also what I'm here for ...

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Nothing to say about the operation of the box. The simplicity of the concept, the use and the desire not to seek pure performance allowed Aspire to optimize the ESP 30W for its power range. Thus, whatever the resistance of your atomizer (taking into account of course the limits of the box), the rendering is impeccable over the entire height of the power scale. We therefore obtain an impeccable vape, whether with a sub-ohm clearo, a double coil dripper or an RTA in “normal” resistance (between 1 and 1.5Ω).

Moreover, I found the chipset particularly responsive. The latency between firing and the resistance's full heating capacity is negligible and the rendering is very constant. This one is more of a rather punchy style but does not crush the aromas. This gives a comfortable and fairly full vape.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Good game! With the ESP 30W, Aspire gives us a beautiful object whose simplicity and optimization of rendering in its power range are the major assets.

The price, although reasonable in absolute terms, is still relatively high if we compare it to the functional possibilities of the box. At around ten euros, we could have to cross this milestone and get an IPV2 mini or a Smok M80, among others, which have a much wider range of use. Matter of choice.

But this in no way tarnishes the intrinsic qualities of the ESP 30W and, for those looking for a beautiful box, light, easy and very pleasant, both in hand and in the vape, it poses as a formidable challenger.

Better finished than the IStick 30W, it is typically the mod that we want to recommend to a friend who quits smoking or a first-time vapoteur who wants to enter the deep end without taking the lead. And, just for that, it was worth Aspire to come out of his lethargy.
