In the series: "you are never better served than by yourself", the Austrian manufacturer Erlkönigin is posed there! Indeed, worried at the sight of the clones of his “star” atomizer, the aptly named Erlkönigin ”, which were multiplying on the web, the manufacturer decided to make his own clone on his own: the Erlprinz! We must admit that the intention is courageous and quite cunning because, even taking no position on the clone war that has raged since the development of the vape, we have to admit that each manufacturer has the right to defend his product.
Therefore, the Erlprinz is an “authorized” clone of the Erlkönigin and loses 90 € on the price and gains in ease of pronunciation, the foot! Or not… because it appears to have disappeared from the catalog of the Austrian company and, unless I had the wrong glasses, I did not see any mention on the official site…. End of the adventure? Parasitism of the star product? Or business failure? All assumptions are open ...
No big deal, it turns out that I am temporarily in possession of an Erlprinz and that we are going to take the opportunity to do either the anatomical profile or the autopsy, depending on whether its marketing is maintained or not ...

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
The Erlprinz is no exception to the rule. As a clone, it therefore appears less well finished than its model, as are most clones. It also allows itself to be slightly different on some finishing angles such as the serrated base, the top of the top cap or the decoration of the internal bell. Not enough to recover from it at night, however, the Erlprinz remaining of correct invoice even if, in wanting to make war on cloners, Erlkönigin produces a Chinese-made atomizer which does not make a big difference in terms of finish with the clones already existing… I would have appreciated a real added value other than the simple fact of having an original at low cost which does not really stand out in terms of the quality of the rest of the pack.
However, if we leave the simple code of ethics and focus on the product, we note that the threads are very correct. I will have a harsher judgment on the O-rings, of lower quality and especially wishing firmly and frequently to leave their respective locations to go party elsewhere. It's downright “the ballad of happy joints”, if you pass me this late-night humor…. The polymer tank, rather flexible and the proprietary drip-tip in real Polyoxymethylene (do not panic, it's plastic….) Do not inspire complete confidence in the longevity of the product over time. But this was already the case with Erlkönigin, to which these criticisms had been made elsewhere.

You should already know that this atomizer will be of no use to you if you like aerial prints. The plastic gear-wheel-shaped airflow adjustment ring is located under the base around the 510 connection. Which, you will agree, is not the best possible place since it requires you to take the ato out of the socket. your mod to finely adjust the draw. This ring, therefore, will vary the pull from mid-tight to completely blocked and that's it. The very principle of using this ring makes the adjustment quite complex. Big fingers abstain or provide you with a suitable tool because otherwise, it's a hassle….
So I proceeded to the ablation of this part, as recommended by many amateurs of Erlkönigin or Erlprinz. It is clear that once this necessary surgery is performed, things go much better and, if the adjustment possibilities are necessarily reduced, you will at least have the satisfaction of maintaining your composure and ensuring the physical integrity of your patient. your atomizer by having avoided calling the hammer to settle the issue definitively.

The drip-tip is present…. and very present! Indeed, it screws onto the top cap, making your favorite drip-tip incompatible with the Erlprinz. In addition, it is made of plastic, which will not be a problem for some but will present a “no-way” for others. Of course, there are adapters and even drip-tips but all optional and which will significantly increase the bill. You might as well add 15 € to the Erlkönigin to put it in its own way is not a problem because at the price it is offered, it is only an increase of 15%. But on the Erlprinz, that amounts to an increase of 50%…. Definitely irrelevant then.

The Erlprinz arrives in a very “made in China” cardboard box with a bag of spare parts, a blue screwdriver and an Allen key for the 510 connection. Nothing infamous in view of the price segment even if others builders do much better for that price. The manual is for absent subscribers ... Since it is not the easiest atomizer in the world, we could have appreciated a few instructions on assembly, for example, especially since its price also intended for beginners.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
In use, once again, the Erlprinz is capable of both the best and the worst.
First of all, if the resistance assembly is easy, it is imperative to perfectly measure the cotton in order to avoid gurgling, leaks or dry-hits. The crux of the problem lies at the level of the channels. The cotton must be lowered into them but in a small quantity so that there is no juice access plug to the coil. The best method seemed to me to be to cut both ends of the hairline into spikes like a 30s mustache and run the narrow portions down into the two channels. By respecting this assembly, you have the certainty of having a great fluidity of the circulation of the liquid and thus of avoiding 99% of the problems.
The filling is very simple and happens through the top of the top cap. You unscrew the drip-tip a little, you turn the ring to reveal the two holes (one used for filling and the second for the simultaneous exit of the expelled air) and you fill with a needle bottle, a bottle or a fairly fine-tipped pipette or syringe. The larger end pieces will have a bit of trouble all the same ... In the worst case, you can unscrew the entire top-cap (by holding the tank well !!!!!) as long as you have not tightened it. too strong before and also fill this way.
On the other hand, it remains impossible to change capillary or coil while keeping the juice. You will need to transfer your liquid before ...
The last problem is the suction noise. If you thought you would go unnoticed, it's missed. The Erlprinz makes a nice sucking noise when you suck, which is reminiscent of Clara Morgane's greatest hours, a melody that we would have gone without vaping in the street ...

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Well, we have covered all the negative points of this atomizer: totally silly airflow adjustment, not very versatile draw, noise in use, average finish, obligation to pour the juice to change the cotton and so on…. .
However, it would be criminal to forget the most important part of an atomizer: its rendering. And there, we can only bow. As long as the slightly airy prints attract you, you will obtain with the Erlprinz an excellent definition of the flavors and a very full rendering of the aromas. The tray and the chamber are particularly well thought out to give a voluptuous and gourmet vape. In terms of taste, the Erlprinz has nothing to envy anyone.
What bitterly regret that so many negative points thwart a perfect user experience. However, if we think about it, by adding a supplied 510 adapter, by positioning the airflow in a more intuitive way and with two or three reworked finishing details, we would obtain an excellent atomizer for the flavors. Pity…
