In this gloomy period back to school 2017, a little fun is not messy, you will agree. So, for just one day, no more sickle-cut boxes that look alike like a group of minions. Finished the wise and rectilinear forms resulting from the drawing boards of cautious designers and eager to copy identically what another cautious designer will have created. Atomized the sensual curves of new-age boxes, polar penguins and other soft toys for retarded children.
Today is the return of the beast. The unexpected comeback of the acid and insectoid legend. The box that kills space marines as easily as I shoot a chicken carcass. I named the ET-X3 from ETaliens. Sensitive souls refrain, this review is prohibited for minors (editor's note, like all the others ...), it's going to be tough!
ETaliens are a bunch of merry, crazy movie fans who have made it their specialty to accommodate the aesthetic of the famous sci-fi movie to the vape. They therefore come out of boxes derived exclusively from this rich and strange graphic universe, which we owe to Giger and Ridley Scott. After an X2 which had made people talk about it and an X3 equipped with the no less famous DNA75 chipset, here is the third episode with a 3W X100, using a proprietary chipset and the possibility of opting for an 18650 or 26650 battery.
The box is available in gold, blue, silver (all that heresy !!!) and matte black or gun metal, closer to the Hollywood franchise. The price is around 75 €, generally observed public price, which places originality at a very friendly price. The box is capable of operating in variable power up to 100W or in temperature control. Maybe one day in the future, she will also be able to swing killer laser beams but the upgrade is slow to arrive ... ^^

Aesthetically, depending on your film culture and your personal tastes, you will either fall in love with you or gag, there will be no happy medium. This warning issued, it is clear that the universe of the film is perfectly rendered here. The X3 therefore presents a singular design, the quality of the production of which could well push the directors of the next film opus to use it in the saga. Indeed, attention to detail has been taken to its climax. Each line drawn is a sculpture, each part of the box an ode to the beast. From the almost biological edges of the butt to the more mechanical inserts that we find on the sides, we find the whole design so particular of the universe of the franchise. We will love it. We will hate it. But this box will not leave you indifferent.
The construction is undoubtedly the biggest surprise, once the shock of the form has passed. Indeed, in the photo, we are entitled to think that the X3 is molded in a kind of cheap plastic but, I reassure you, this is not at all the case. Quite the contrary, the grip is incredible, because we discover an object made of aluminum alloy obtained by wrought, having undergone a quenching and a tempering to accentuate its hardness. In fact, the box seems to be a war machine and has a perceived solidity. Moreover, a heavy weight attests it and especially the real impression of having a handgun in the palm of the hand.
A few pieces of plastic have crept into the right places. This is the case of the switch and the [+] and [-] buttons or else of the base plate supporting the cooling vents which surround a hatch formed by a cap to be screwed / unscrewed to access the battery housing. This piece is made of brass, heavy and solid and, although I am not a fan of this type of hatch closure, I must admit that, again, the perceived quality is flattering and a guarantee of a reliability that one imagines. excellent in the long run.
The 510 connection has a positive brass pin mounted on a spring and has channels wide enough to facilitate a possible entry of air from the bottom of the atomizer. The thread is well machined and presents no problem in use.
A fairly bright and precise oled screen displays essential information and a micro-USB socket terminates the front panel, just below the [+] and [-] buttons. The topography is fairly standard but fits perfectly into the complex convolutions of the box.
The finish is beautifully crafted and, whether in terms of aesthetics or the quality of machining and assembly, the X3 cannot be criticized. The switch is nice, clicky at will and has a comfortable short stroke. Ditto for the interface buttons. Even if the buttons could be better secured to their housing, they do indeed move slightly, there is nothing here that is likely to affect the operation or comfort.
The grip, finally, is much more pleasant than one might guess by looking at the tortured forms of the monster. Indeed, the remarkable absence of sharp edges, the softness of the material and a shape modeled on the butt of a revolver mean that you are immediately at ease and that the object immediately finds its place in the palm of your hand. Only the weight and the size still marked of the machine will be able to put off the worshipers of the small formats. For the rest, welcome to the lair of the beast. The object is beautiful, well finished and has a comfortable grip.

The X3 is a polymorphic being, fans of the movie already knew it! In this case, it accepts 26650 batteries and 18650 batteries with a silicone adapter supplied.
The operating methods are quite traditional even if their name changes here. Indeed, we do not choose between variable power and temperature control but we fix a choice in terms of resistive wire. So much the better for the call menu which becomes very simple but understanding is not necessarily immediate when you have become accustomed to other boxes.
Thus, the “kanthal” mode calls up the variable power mode while the “nickel 200”, SS316 or “titanium” modes switch directly to the temperature control mode. However, don't worry, if you want to use SS316 in variable power mode, as I am doing now, you just need to choose “kanthal” mode. I know this is unusual but remember that we are not dealing with an earthly creature but a xenomorphic hybrid. So you have to learn to speak your language ...
The variable power mode (kanthal mode) thus makes it possible to traverse a scale from 7W to 100W, in increments of 0.1W on resistances going from 0.1 to 5Ω. The temperature control mode makes it possible to work between 105 and 315 ° C on a scale from 0.1 to 1Ω.
The operation is very simple and quickly enters the brain. Five clicks on the switch allow you to power on or off. Three clicks take you to the mode selection menu where you will find the resistive wires that can be used. If you choose the kanthal, you are on the variable wattage module. If you choose one of the other types of wire, you switch to the temperature control. In this mode, no TCR or other exotic functions, it's simple: the choice of wire induces a return to the main screen where you determine the maximum temperature. Then, a click on the switch validates this temperature and allows you to influence the power. From that moment, the programmed temperature is confirmed and the power you choose will determine how quickly it will be reached. Without being customizable and adjustable in the smallest details, it is extremely simple.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
Unlike its illustrious model, the packaging will not start to piss off acid if you open it… that's it already. A cardboard box of good dimensions therefore contains the X3, the silicone adapter and a very nice USB / Micro USB cable with the brand's coat of arms in braided nylon, absolute proof that the details, even trivial, are taken care of in the optics of a welcome originality.
Do not lose this cable. It works great with the X3 but that does not seem to be the case with some more classic cables. The slightly greater length of the micro USB plug being, in my opinion, the reason.
The black and very rigid cardboard also contains a silicone skin, perforated to perfection, to wrap the box with a protective layer while keeping the general aesthetic spirit by revealing certain parts of her naked body. Finally a usable skin without being ugly!
The "notice" is exemplary in the sense that it does not reveal anything about the operation of the box. A simple list of technical specifications and scary warnings, in English of course, thus serves as a “manual”. For once, thank you ETaliens, this is not how we will hurt our eyes! Finally, let's be positive, we learn that you should not immerse the box under water, do not vape if the outside temperature exceeds 85 °, that you should not feed it after midnight and that you can use it. possibly with nicotine e-liquids. Foot !

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
If we except the weight and the size which can handicap a nomadic use, the X3 turns out to be a perfect companion of vape.
The proprietary chipset is quite credible and delivers a harmonious vape and a very straight signal. The rendering is therefore rather generous, soft and compact.
The latency is quite weak. We saw better but we saw worse.
The temperature control, however succinct, works very well and, by calibrating a reasonable power with the ideal temperature, we arrive quickly to a consistent rendering that avoids the effects of pump while limiting the heating to the level you have chosen .
By using a 26650 battery, one quickly finds oneself in the nails of the manufacturers recommendations which advise a battery capable of delivering 40A at peak. To use it with an 18650 battery, although I don't really see the point, be careful to trust brands that don't display crazy numbers. A good Samsung 25R or a Sony VTC6 will do just fine.
The X3 is an ideal mod to vape between 30 and 50W on a scale of resistances between 0.3 and 0.8Ω. It is not really a cloud generator even if the promised 100W turns out to be realistic. The possible power, the low but real latency and its aversion to resistances of less than 0.1Ω do not make it a mod dedicated to competition but to an everyday vape.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
I loved it. You, I don't know, but I loved it.
The X3 is a UFO in the sense that its aesthetic contrasts radically with the usual niches of vaping design. The callback to the film is ubiquitous and will fascinate fans as much as it repels others. It is a pure collector's item which, in ten years yet, will be topical because its identity is so strong.
However, it is not limited to that and offers a convincing rendering, very thick and compact, which will best serve the purposes of your favorite atomizer. “It” doesn't just show off, “it” vapes too, and pretty well. Note once again a finish at the height and a pleasant grip.
For its originality, its aesthetic exception, it deserves, not an Oscar but a Top Mod!
