In all ecosystems, there are mass distribution products, manufactured in an industrial way. This is not, moreover, a distinctive sign, these existing products, depending on the manufacturer, as highly qualitative, average or simply mediocre products. There is everything in the industry, good and bad, and we all know that.
But, within these same ecosystems, there are also other products, made by virtuous and passionate hands, tenderly considered, created then shaped with application and talent to result in unique products, the fruit of the union of matter. and the sweat of the craftsman.
D-Mass is one of them. A sumptuous-looking mechanical mod where everything has been thought out with precision to make things beautiful above all. The price may seem high but it is justified by the hours necessary to achieve a unique object, worthy of appearing in any precious collection, not far from a Matisse or a Bugatti. We don't pay for materials or even labor, we treat ourselves to a piece of art craftsmanship.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
D-Mass uses a combination of three materials. Stainless steel for the inner tube and part of the top cap and the switch, copper for better conductivity at the connectors as well as damask steel. This steel is obtained by wrought (hammering) of alternating layers and the finish of which consists of coating the whole with an acidic liquid which will corrode the steel sheets differently, bringing out a symphony of totally unique shapes and colors. Used in very high-end cutlery, it is a long and very arduous production which implies for the craftsman extremely sharp notions of metallurgy and very long-term work.
The quality of finish of the D-Mass is quite simply exceptional. Not only in the manufacture of damask steel but also in the omnipresent softness, both in the switch which is a real butter and in the threads which are in themselves a benchmark in terms of machining. It's just perfect. Both visually and in hand. Note the absolute softness of the contact of the noble material which, far from being dry and hard against the skin, evokes the touch of certain precious fabrics.
So if the price can take a step back, don't hesitate to compare it with that of other mechanical mods in the same range which only has a polished finish with a laser engraving done in fifteen minutes.

Please note, this mod is a collection mod and not a competition mod. Although it displays a correct conductivity and guarantees a perfect use in “normal” vape, it cannot be compared to certain mechanical mods with an almost perfect conductivity. And that is not his goal. But if you are looking for a gorgeous, unique and sultry mod, then this is the mod for you.
Between its smoothness of operation (my God, the quality of this switch!) And the reliability of its connections, to which is added a solidity that you cannot imagine when you see it, it does better than follow your way of vaping, it enhances it by adding the tactile sensation of a high quality material.
Measured using a tankometer and therefore just to give an idea, the D-Mass outputs 4.09V on a fully charged battery and 3.88V with a good ato mounted. These figures must of course be taken with a grain of salt and perspective with regard to the equipment used for the measurement and the internal resistance of the tankometer, the atomizer, the wind speed and inflation ... 😉
But these figures have the merit of establishing the distance from the market leaders in terms of conductivity, measured on the same material with more flattering figures. But again, the point is not there. This mod will not serve you to participate in Cloud-Chasing contests but to feel the elegance of vaping on a material made with patience and nobility.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
The packaging is nice and corresponds to the class of the mod. My only regret is that Drip n'Vap opted for a wooden box, certainly pleasant to look at, but the strength of which does not seem compatible with any transport in optimal conditions. The mod comes with an additional short tube that allows the mod to go from 18350 to 18650 without having to use the telescope function, which is a good idea and a certificate of authenticity including a three-line notice, good enough to learn the only thing that differentiates this mecha mod from the others: the maintenance of Damascus steel using vegetable oil.
Appreciations in use

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
In use, it's a dream! As long as we respect what it is for, the vaping experience is enhanced by the beauty of the object. Obviously, this remark is deeply subjective and does not have any informative character! I just noticed, for having titillated it a little, that it tends to heat up, without excess, when a low resistance atomizer is installed on it.
Another note: choose your battery with care, the inside of the tube being quite narrow (18mm), some rather chubby batteries will not fit. An Efest Purple, for example, goes forcibly, which does not bode very well in the event of a problem, given the little space left for possible degassing.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
I reread my review and I find there plenty of purely subjective judgments ... You see me sorry but the D-Mass is above all a magnificent object which exerts on you, when you have it in hand, a total fascination, almost a spell likely to erase any attempt at objectivity. We often complain about the price of a mechanical mod (me first) and say: “so much money for a piece of pipe !!!”. And, indeed, sometimes it is. But here we are in a specific field, that of artistic craftsmanship and the uniqueness of the object combined with the insane passion of the man who worked on it make all its value.
Look at him for what he is and not for what he is not. He is not the right mod for power racing. Nor the mod that we take to the beach. It is the silent companion of your solitary readings by the fireside. And its presence in your hand is enough to reassure you about the future of the world, it seems so inhabited by all the human passions that gave birth to it.
