Reviewer comments on business characteristics

The Cubis made a lot of noise when it was released. A very versatile clearomizer, which may be suitable for both first-time vapers and experienced users, it was already good. But if we add a fully developed anti-leak technology, it was almost Nirvana! Also, the Joyetech miracle clearomiser has enjoyed great commercial success which, even today, cannot be denied.

However, some complaints about the airflow could be made on this first opus. Indeed, with the lowest resistances in the wide range of consumables available, this airflow remained a little too tight and some vape sessions quickly turned into oral and nasal sauna!

To respond to these criticisms which emanated above all from the most confirmed of our co-religionists, Joyetech is therefore releasing a Cubis Pro, which is promised to us as meeting the expectations of an improved airflow.

Available in black, steel, red, orange, white and blue at a floor rate of 21.90 €, we can not say that the Cubis Pro has taken the big head! And so much the better because it will have to convince widely, from beginners to more experienced that this version brings a real plus compared to the first.

Compatible with all LF resistors in the range and adding a new QCS resistance (Notch Coil Reconstructible) as well as an LVC resistance (Clapton with liquid flow adjustment in 1.5Ω), the Cubis Pro displays a great desire to do battle. . So let's unstitch !!! 😎

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

Less high than its predecessor by a few millimeters, the Cubis Pro presents well and immediately displays its fundamental difference in the form of an airflow ring, located at the top-cap. This ring, very easy to turn, is ergonomically ideally placed. Indeed, no need to loosen the mod ato to modify the airflow, no need to go “sneaky” either, we can see very well what we are doing. The ring has two sets of 5 holes approximately 1mm wide and therefore allows very precise and visual adjustment, unlike the first Cubis of the name.

The advertised autonomy is 4ml. We are not very far from the truth BUT… it will depend on the resistances we install on the ato. Indeed, some resistors are larger than others and will therefore take up more space, which will leave even less for the juice. Let's stay humble and, around 3.5ml, everything will go very well.

The construction does not suffer from any reproach. It's Joyetech, it's neat, well done, the coating is solid and reliable and the finishes are neat, no offense to the proponents of good taste who think (again….) That Chinese manufacturers cannot by definition produce quality material and who say it on Facebook using their made Iphone guess where ??? So, cushy pro-Western protectionism, why not? But counter-top Sino-racism, it will be without me. End of the parenthesis.

We are therefore on a clearomizer whose quality / price ratio is most flattering. There is no problem on this floor, so I suggest you go up to the one above.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The most obvious and reassuring feature of this atomizer is to generate vapor. Which he does very well.

The airflow is a real butter to adjust, it's intuitive, it does not require Bac +12 to be understood and once completely tight, it's simple, it feels like vaping on a pencil. Try with other atos to see! Here, when it's closed, it's closed!

The anti-leakage system is the result of the design of the overall system. So we have a closed tank at the bottom, totally. First advantage: filling is easy, there is no risk of creating a tsunami of juice on the pants. Second advantage: well, if the tank is completely sealed on the bottom and the top of the ato is blocked by the top-cap, how do you expect there to be a leak?

Joyetech Cubis Pro Exploded

The top-cap is therefore composed of two fundamental parts: the part comprising the airflow ring and the chimney embryo which is screwed on the tank and a screw-off shutter which allows access to the filling. Which is facilitated by a large place. And if that was not enough, you can also decide to unscrew the part with the airflow to have a gaping hole in front of the eyes.

On the chimney part, you screw the resistance of your choice, taking care to prime it by pouring one or two drops of juice directly into it. It is then enough to immerse the whole in the tank, then to fill it and we are ready to vape. Simpler, it seems difficult and even those with two left hands, like yours truly, will quickly take their marks. Yup, isn't it?

Drip-Tip Features

  • Drip tip type: 510 Only
  • Presence of a Drip-Tip? Yes, the vaper can immediately use the product
  • Length and type of drip-tip present: Medium
  • Quality of the present drip-tip: Good

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip

Attention ladies, it is not without a drip-tip that Joyetech offers you its Cubis Pro, it is not with a drip-tip either. No, ladies and gentlemen, it is indeed two drip-tips that will be delivered to you with your new atomizer !!! Why do less when we can do more?

Indeed, we have a first plastic drip-tip of the same color as the atomizer. This drip-tip is simple, has two joints and will allow you to vape. The material is not exceptional but, for the price, we are not going to ask too much either.

Especially since we are offered a second drip-tip, black this one, including an internal helical system in order to limit the projections of juice in your mouth. Good idea because, as we will see below, it could happen to you.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

The new airflow brings a second youth to the product and the vape can be declined from tight to air without problem… or almost.

Indeed, it is necessary to take into account the principle of air circulation of the Cubis which imposes an air intake from the top (to avoid leaks). At each suction, the air enters through the airholes according to your setting. It is redirected towards the center of the resistance by a duct surrounding the chimney and then rises, charged with steam by the main duct. On paper, this is a great idea. And in practice, it will work, but within certain limits.

Indeed, the airflow, sufficient to have an air draft, is however insufficient to cool the steam as soon as we increase in power. We are therefore constrained by the heat of the steam quite quickly.

Joyetech Cubis Pro Resistances

For example, the Notch Coil resistance in 0.25Ω is given for an operation between 30 and 70W. In reality, you will not exceed 45W at the maximum and from 50W, you will burn your tongue! This means that we are bothered with this resistance which will not react sufficiently at low power and will heat up too quickly as soon as we go up, to the detriment of respect for the liquid and a devastating temperature.

The SS316 0.5Ω resistor is more comfortable. As it requires less power to fully express itself, temperatures that are harmful to the flavor of the liquid are reached less quickly. At 27W, we are fine even if the steam is still hot. At 22W, we are in a warm temperature suitable for most liquids.

As for the Clapton resistance, the juice flow adjustment is efficient and allows to accept juices well loaded with VG. It reacts correctly around 20 / 25W and offers a creamy and very heavy vape that Clapton lovers (the resistive, not the guitarist…) will recognize among a thousand.

My preference goes very clearly to the BF resistance in SS316 of 0.5Ω. It is the one that best expresses the flavors while remaining very suitable in terms of vapor volume. It is this which gives all its meaning to the improvement of the airflow.

There remains a problem known to owners of the “normal” Cubis and which can be found here. During the first taffs, we obtain a rather pronounced gurgling, even with a “light” priming and liquid upsurges in the mouth can occur. The phenomenon gradually settles down and ends up disappearing after a few minutes of vaping. Pity…

I recommend that you also bring a good big bottle of juice with you because the Cubis Pro drinks about as much as a cowboy at the local saloon.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

The bet undertaken by Joyetech to offer a Cubis with an improved airflow is held. It works and it opens up interesting prospects for versatility! But it is not kept at the level one would expect. The very principle of the air intake from the top is a brake on good cooling of the coils and is detrimental to the use of the product under the conditions provided by the manufacturer. This is probably the price to pay for a leak-free atomizer?

Nevertheless, an intermediate solution should be able to emerge and resolve once and for all this problem of excessive steam temperature. The resistors work, the ato works but the airflow, although improved, is still not up to the rest.

This therefore intends the Cubis Pro more for beginner or intermediate vapers than for confirmed or expert vapers. Yes, direct inhalation is possible as long as you are not too greedy in the use of too low resistances or too high powers. But the flange of the airflow quickly reminds us of more serene vapes and less cloud generators.

Still, the Cubis Pro is a good clearomizer. The flavors are interesting, the steam is not to be outdone. But a future, more thoughtful version could undoubtedly make it the ultimate tool for a nomadic and safe vape.
