Joyetech and the AIO (All In One) concept is already a long story strewn with successes but also sometimes failures. Even for the inveterate geek, it is difficult to make a history because the genealogy is so dense! We especially remember that the concept of putting everything in one and the same object is a Grail dear to the brand and the stubbornness in finding the best compromise still leads to admiration.
Today, therefore, place for the CuAIO D22 which, with its robot name in Star Wars, invites itself on the test bench.
We are faced with a very small tubular object comprising a battery, a clearomizer and a switch. No screen, no settings, no blah, simple and efficient! There is then a great temptation to stick a “primovapoteur” label on his head, but that would be totally false. Indeed, as we will not fail to see below, the rendering of vape is relatively far from the concerns of a beginner and will address the CuAIO rather to the intermediate or confirmed vaper needing a discreet set-up.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
On the aesthetic side, Joyetech knows how to do it. Far from the manga or android delirium of other specialists, the brand ensures a classic and classy design made of brushed aluminum and touches of black that make our CuAIO an object of desire. The small size is quite remarkable and the grip remains good, even if the use of the thumb to press the switch is favored because it takes the other fingers to hold the small tube properly.
The weight is also very low and the diameter of 22mm does not feel like you have a pen in your hand. The general appearance will certainly appeal to old vapers who liked to use mechanical mods in 18350. In any case, it's very successful and the mix of materials: steel, brushed aluminum and pyrex is the most beautiful effect.
The proprietary battery displays a reassuring 1500mAh of capacity. It will probably not be nirvana for clouders but it will be enough to vape as a nomad without appearing to be carrying a 10 kiloton nuclear bomb.
One button for firing and everything will go through it for the reduced or rather essential features of the product.
On the bottom cap, we find, surrounded by the usual silkscreen prints, a safety vent to allow degassing of the battery in the event of a problem.
Opposite the switch, we notice the micro USB port which will be used to recharge the battery. Casing 1A, it will therefore take 90 minutes for a full recharge at this intensity.
At the top therefore sits the clearomizer which will accommodate and allow the vaporization of your favorite e-liquids. This remains in the Cubis optics and uses PRO-C BF 0.6Ω resistors, compatible with other home devices. A resistance presented as calibrated for MTL but, unless the Chinese have a bigger mouth than us Europeans, I doubt a little of the reality of this postulate. We will talk about this later.
The resistor will operate between 15W and 28W, which does not mean much for the CuAIO which, for lack of settings, will send whatever it wants anyway ...

Reviewer's comments on functional features
The functions are therefore reduced to the essentials and are limited to enabling the device to be turned on or off by five clicks on the switch. Besides that, the switch is also used for vaping, which is the least of things, you will agree.
The most interesting and innovative aspect lies rather in the filling of the clearomiser. This is equipped with a top-cap including child safety. It is clear that it works quite well. Indeed, the airflow ring is not only used to manage the air flow entering the resistance, as it is its duty, but it is also used to lock / unlock the top-cap. When you completely close the airflow, two silkscreened arrows then line up, meaning that you can push the top-cap which will tilt, thus revealing the well-sized filling holes. Then, when you have finished, you just have to tilt the top-cap again and push it back towards the outer edge and presto, you're done.
I assume that with the help of the photos above, you will have understood the principle which is much easier to execute than to explain. In any case, it is well thought out and no risk that your children will discover the ploy. If they find it anyway, you can immediately enroll them in a school for the gifted!
In the safety chapter, we note the presence of a protection against short circuits, a cut-off to protect the atomizer from overheating and a cut-off system when the battery charge is less than 3.3V . The system also takes care of the resistance value and will prevent the CuAIO from functioning if it is greater than 3.5Ω or less than 0.2Ω.
The switch is also used as an indicator of the state of charge of the battery. Between 60 and 100%, it stays on for a few seconds after using it. Between 30 and 59%, it flashes slowly. Between 10 and 29%, it flashes faster. Between 0 and 9%, it blinks at full cash and below 0%, well, it does not blink at all !!! Although very visual, this system is not the most practical in reality. A simple green / yellow / red tricolor LED would also have done the trick ...
And this closes the chapter on features that are as small as the moods in a stock broker. But the CuAIO is made for vaping and that it does quite well ...

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
Here we have the standard package from Joyetech with the eternal white card, including a charging cable, a warranty card, a yellow card to explain that you have to empty the tank before changing the resistance (thank you guys!) and a bag of spares with spare gaskets, an additional pyrex and a 510 drip-tip which can be clipped onto the proprietary drip-tip included on the ato.
We note the presence of a notice that speaks several languages including that of Molière but a little less well than him. I can't resist, mean as I am, to deliver this chosen piece to you: “Please choose good batteries from reputable companies”. A literary must therefore, especially since the battery of the CuAIO cannot be changed… Finally, if the letter is not there, the spirit is there and we can thank Joyetech for providing us with multilingual notices each time.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
Sold as an MTL kit, the CuAIO is not. Once you understand this, you will be able to appreciate the object for what it really is and discover a round vape, quite precise in flavors and quite generous in vapor. Indeed, the 0.6Ω resistance and the airflow allocated to it do not allow a tight draw. The print is not hyper-aerial either, don't make me say what I didn't say! 😉 Let's say we have restricted air draft, including obscuring the airhole but which allows DTL without any problem. It is therefore not a kit that we can recommend to a beginner.
On the other hand, it will make the happiness of an intermediate vapoteur who wishes to have more vapor or to put himself gently in the DTL and it will be perfectly suited to a confirmed vaper who will find there an easy tool to take in hand and to take during his day of job.
The vape rendering is quite close to that of a Cubis, less liquid splashes and remains tasty and vaporous. A completely honorable result if we compare it to the price of the kit which is, I remind you, twenty euros.
There is no problem with the correct use of the set-up. No heating, no leaks either since the airflow is positioned on the top of the ato and an autonomy which corresponds well to a nomadic use, not too far from a computer in case ...
A slight downside all the same, it is better to reserve liquids for which the level of vegetable glycerin is not too high. In 50/50 or even 40/60, it is very good and responsive but quickly runs out of steam if you exceed 60% of VG and starts to generate some dry-hits.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Inexpensive, small, cute and reliable to use, the CuAIO does not suffer from any major flaws.
On condition, however, to reserve it for non-beginner vapers who will appreciate it for its small size, its natural disposition to make a pretty vapor and its cute little mecha mod aspect!
A nice surprise that this offspring of a large family, who fully assumes the heritage by adding a “cute” side worthy of Puss in Boots in Shreck!
