Asvape is a young Chinese manufacturer who is rising and whose Strider, Michael Mod and other Lucifer boxes have generated the interest of vapers by working in a rather reasonable High End in terms of prices. Recently, the brand has launched into the production of atomizers including a mid-range dripper and a clearomizer, the Cobra, which we are going to dissect today.
The Cobra is therefore a proprietary resistance atomizer whose particularity is to offer nichrome as a resistive wire and more exactly NI80 which therefore contains 80% Nickel for 20% Chromium. Fans of this particularly reactive material will therefore be interested. The clearomizer is therefore intended to be a sub-ohm device around 0.5Ω, ie a value which predisposes to a good release of vapor while remaining within limits that some might consider as reasonable.
The price of the Cobra is fixed at around 17 € in big promotion with our sponsor, which places it in the entry level. A non-dissuasive price, therefore, if the result is in the nails of what we can expect. The offer being bloated in the segment, we expect an impeccable result that could make a difference.

Aesthetically, the Cobra turns out to offer a fairly massive shape due to its imposing diameter of 24mm. As its length remains measured, the atomizer appears quite stocky, an impression corroborated by an imposing drip-tip whose trapezoidal shape finishes the top of the atomizer in a beautiful way.
Built in 304 so-called “food-safe” steel, the Cobra remains at a reasonable weight and has a very correct finish, even if some assemblies seem a little imprecise, in particular the junctions between the pyrex tank and the top-cap or the bottom- cap. But the ato makes up for it with good quality threads that positively influence the user experience.
Available in three colors: black, natural steel or gold, the Cobra offers here, in its black livery, a thin gold band which adds a classy note to a successful design. the pyrex of the tank is smoky black, which accentuates the impression of massiveness and communicates an originality of good quality.
Some rather discreet engravings enamel the object to differentiate it. The name of the brand on the top-cap and the name of the reference on the bottom.

Reviewer's comments on functional features
If the functionalities are limited by the very nature of the object, they correspond in every way to the needs of the vapoteur.
The airflow ring reveals two very wide slots that will easily feed the coil. The air intakes centralize the flow in the base which ends directly from below the resistance, a well-established concept that works very well. The handling of the ring does not call for any particular comment, the finger grip is correct and the resistance to rotation remains median, which allows the ring to be turned with ease without it turning on its own by accident.
The top-cap unscrews and therefore discovers two good-sized filling orifices which will be able to accommodate all the pouring devices. The handling is easy, after a short break-in time to “make” the screw threads, even if the trapezoidal shape of the top-cap does not really work to facilitate things. However, you get used to it quickly and the quality of the threads allows rapid disassembly.
The proprietary resistors are available in two colors, natural and gold, to better match the aesthetics and color of your ato. In addition to the fact already mentioned that they use nichrome to function, they have an interesting characteristic in being pierced with a multitude of small holes all around their periphery, which bodes very good absorption of the liquid present in the tank.
The 510 connection has a fixed positive pin but which comes out of its housing, which will prevent any electrical damage. The fact that a large majority of mods today use a positive spring pin will therefore allow you to wedge the Cobra well on your mod, flush like the straight of the same name.
The pyrex tank does not present any protection, it has unfortunately become an almost constant at this time. I therefore invite you to surround your atomizer with a silicone ring to avoid any accident resulting from a fall. Note all the same that a second pyrex is delivered in your box.

Reviewer's comments on the Drip-Tip
I really appreciated this POM (Delrin) drip-tip which has great softness and an optimal shape for a pleasant grip in the mouth. Although a nice size, it is nonetheless based on the standard 510, which will allow you to replace it if you don't like it.
Some may regret that the 510 is used here and could have preferred a drip-tip with a larger internal diameter. However, the width of the chimney determines the release of steam, a width that perfectly matches the option chosen for the drip-tip. A larger diameter would therefore have been of little use.
In addition, the Cobra is certainly a generous ato but the choice of a 0.5Ω resistor demonstrates a desire to move towards an intermediate and versatile device. The chosen diameter is therefore explained.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
The box is interesting in more than one way. First of all because it is free from the usual box in this price range but also and above all because it is, let's say, fun to open. So don't be like me, trying painfully to lift a hypothetical cover, there isn't one. The opening is circular, like the butterfly doors of luxury cars. When we know it, it goes by itself. But when you ignore it, you look like a jerk. I tested for you. ^^
The content is rather agreed. A spare pyrex, a bag full of gaskets and additional resistance supplied in a plastic container that is not unlike the shape of a suppository. So, avoid confusing if you have a cold, it will save you from disappointment.
In any case, the packaging complies with the tariff requirement of the Cobra.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
In use, the Cobra is easy to learn and experience.
Disassembly and assembly are formalities given the small number of parts and, notwithstanding the shape of the top-cap that will penalize the biggest fingers, we find ourselves very quickly in known terrain. The change of the resistance requires the emptying of the tank but is done very easily by screwing the piece on the base. The top of the resistance is threaded and thus ensure the tight fixing of the block by screwing the top of the chimney.
The filling is no problem. I have not noticed any leaks, even with thin liquids or when the resistance is at the end of its life. I recommend however to plug the airholes to fill the ato as a preventive measure but, even open, I did not have a typical flooding or even seepage.
The rendering blithely benefits from the quality of the resistors. The principle of holes on the entire circumference allows perfect irrigation of the capillary, whatever the ratio of your juice, within the power margin recommended by the manufacturer. Beyond that, there are no more problems elsewhere but the heat of the steam and a slight loss of flavor will dissuade you from using this atomizer for what it is not.
We obtain a very pleasant vape, which presents an excellent compromise between intensity of flavors and volume of vapor. The ato is generous on both points and we therefore benefit from a beautiful texture as well as an interesting taste. There are more "vaporous" or tastier devices, but it is ultimately quite rare to find a good balance. The Cobra does it however and imposes a pleasant, soft and reactive vape at the same time. A perfect tool to vape all day long, with peace of mind.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Asvape brilliantly crossed the baffle of clearomizers on which manufacturers who are well versed in the field have so often clashed.
The Cobra is an interesting atomizer in more than one way and will find its target audience among vapers who love an aerial vape but who refuse to choose between vapor and flavors. The measured power to be sent to it so that it gives its full potential, the use of a reactive Ni80 and a consumption, certainly important, but measured in the current panorama of clearos allow a use without unpleasant surprises.
A very reliable and easy companion whose only flaw is not yet being available in France, hoping that the shops will make the effort to offer this beautiful object to their customers. In the meantime, it is only marketed in China, so plan to buy resistors in large numbers if you plan to buy one, you never know.
I give it a Top Ato taking into account the good compromise offered, a reasonable price and a pleasant “allday” rendering.
