Until recently, we only knew Wismec through the Presa, a nice box, later declined in temperature control. But other than that, few have heard of this brand. Today, everyone speaks only of her and there is something.

As soon as the eagerly awaited release of Evolv's new chipsest, the DNA200, all manufacturers usually using the American engine got started and all released their free interpretation around the famous novelty. Lost Vape, Vapor Shark, HCigar… all the big guys were there. On the menu for everyone, the famous chipset, a parallelepiped box and the widespread use of LiPo batteries to provide the famous engine with the necessary fuel. All except… Wismec. Indeed, the brand is releasing, completely contrary to the trend, a box with a new shape and equipped with 3 18650 batteries. The advantage is enormous. Indeed, we know the fragility of LiPo batteries in the event of a fall and they are delicate batteries to change. There, no more problem, we inject 3 18650 batteries with the strongest CDM possible (Sony VTC5 or others) and we have a box that is much more autonomous, much safer and whose batteries can be easily changed. 1 - 0 for the unknown brand, owned by Joyetech which is definitely on all fronts at the moment.

But it would only be a nice romantic twist if, about three weeks after releasing the Reuleaux DNA200, Wismec had not done it again when releasing the Reuleaux RX200! Total aesthetic copy of the DNA200, the RX200 differs by the use of a Joyetech chipset, unanimously recognized on the EVIC VT or the VTC Mini except that there, we cross with joy a good level and we send downright 200W ! And all this for less than 70 €, or 100 € less than the Reuleaux DNA200. For once, it is no longer 1-0 but quite a hold-up that the brand offers. Because never has such a powerful box been offered at such a price. And never has such a price been asked for such perceived quality. 

So, it is no longer a question of whether this end of the year will see the hegemony of Wismec hovering over the planet Vape because it is already the case, in a single month of time. It is neither more nor less than whether the RX200 would not be the best box in the world!

If you liked the Reuleaux DNA200, you are going to like the RX200. Indeed, it is the same. And when I say the same, I mean exactly the same. Same quality aluminum, same specific shape and yet so comfortable, same hatch to access the three batteries. The only difference therefore lies in the chipset. From there to wanting to insinuate that under a BMW body, the manufacturer installed a small 3-cylinder instead of the usual 6-cylinder in-line, that would be showing bad language. Because we all now know that Joyetech offers efficient, easy and efficient proprietary chipsets. What we will of course check below.

The shape is therefore modeled on the famous Triangle de Reuleaux, a great German mathematician and is particularly suited to a perfect grip. And yet, it was not a given. Indeed, the RX200 is heavy, fortunately quite short but thick. But its particular shape means that it is immediately well in hand. Regardless of the coating, the form factor is definitely convincing. It doesn't slip. It does not roll. And all the orders fall right on the spot. A colossal success, a major innovation in the form and its utility that we owe to Jay Bo, American moderator previously creator of Tobh Atty, among others. A flash of genius.

The workmanship is excellent and cannot suffer from any reproach. Whether at the price of the RX200 or the DNA200, 3 times higher, the only difference is in the choice of colors. The DNA200 is silver and black, the RX200 is currently available in blue and white or black and black. For my part, I like the blue and white model which reminds me of the carefree associations of colors typical of the fifties (no, I was not born, mufle! 😡).

The switch is simply impeccable. Easy to find under the finger, not sticking a micron in its housing and just making a slight “click” during its action. Ditto for everything else, the [+] and [-] buttons, the battery hatch which holds remarkably well and which is easy to remove or position, the cradle of the three batteries, each negative connection of which is spring loaded and which we shows the +/- direction by easy reference marks. A notable good point also for the vents, 20 on the bottom cap below the batteries and 6 towards the top of the box, three per side, for efficient ventilation of the three batteries and prevention of possible problems.

Perfection costs € 69.90. Isn't that good news? We who thought that even by paying 6 times more expensive, it was necessary to buy all the duplicate parts in case ...

A flaw, however: the weight of the whole remains quite substantial and perhaps some small hands will have a little trouble despite the pleasant shape of the object.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

This is where we will try to answer together the question everyone has on their lips. Is the RX200 the poor relation of the DNA200? Is it the same body but underpowered from its dear sister? Because the crux of the problem is there: how to imagine that a box at 70 € can compete with a box at 180 €, when it comes from the same manufacturer and, apart from the chipset, it is strictly identical?

The answer can not only come from the figures since, here too, there is a similarity which makes the comparison even more equivocal. Same level of power, almost identical protections, equivalent minimum resistance, upgradeable firmware… everything contributes to catch us in the well-meshed nets of the brand.

Thus, rather than noting the common points since they are legion, we prefer to note the differences: 

The RX200 will primarily concern Plug & Vape enthusiasts. Because it is a simple box. 5 clicks, it works. 5 clicks, it doesn't work anymore. It can be used in variable power mode between 1 and 200W, in temperature mode between 100 ° and 315 ° C with NI200, Titanium AND Stainless Steel (316L). Once switched off, if the three buttons are pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds, the residual voltage of each battery is obtained. To change mode? Childish! 3 quick clicks on the switch Change the power in temperature mode? Almost funny! Just click 4 times on the switch and you adjust the power. Lock resistance? Magic ! Just hold the switch and the [+] button simultaneously.

In short, we are not going to go on forever. The RX200 is simple. Simple and crystal clear. Anyone can walk around it in twenty minutes and all operational features are easily adjustable.

In comparison, we can say that the DNA200 is primarily intended for perfectionists and ultra-geeks of all stripes. The Escribe software allows you to finely adjust each of the parameters of your vape, to establish different profiles according to your different atos, to personalize your screen and even to load in your box the documented bases of the different types of resistive wires so that it works at its best.

One is simple, intuitive but remains (relatively) limited in the customization of settings. The other is complex, requires learning but opens up a world of personalization of the various factors that influence the vape. 

It is therefore up to you to determine while knowing, as we will see later that the rendering of the two boxes is qualitatively equal but different in terms of behavior.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging is very correct, especially for a box of this price.

A gray cardboard box contains the box, a multi-language manual including French (we are spoiled at the moment. You can see that it was worth yelling a little each time! 😉) as well as a charging cord although I urge you to use it only when you travel. A good charger will do a better job on your batteries, and at this level of performance, healthy batteries can prevent a lot of problems.

Appreciations in use

The use we are talking about here therefore implies the portability of the mod in set-up and its functioning in terms of rendering. 

In terms of nomadism, we have already mentioned the weight which can be penalizing for some and a thickness of 40mm “tidy” which may not be suitable for everyone. Of course, once equipped with an ato, it is not really the type of mod that can be lugged in the front pocket of a summer polo shirt… But the Reuleaux, whatever it is, makes up for it with a grip and a very pleasant touch that makes you forget its dimensions. 

 In terms of rendering, I tested it in a cushy vape around 20W on a 1.4Ω assembly because it is often here that ultra-powerful boxes sin. Well the rendering is optimal. A soft, very fleshy, pleasant vape that is smoothed perfectly. We do not feel a boost effect sometimes conducive to generating a slight overheating of the liquid at the start of work. There is no latency, the signal seems to come out immediately after pressing the switch, perhaps following a very short upward slope to reach the desired power so that the liquid is not caught short.

 In a powerful vape, on a 0.2Ω assembly, between 70 and 120W, we get exactly the result we are looking for. It's terribly dense, strong and manly! Beyond that, the marriage between the assembly, the resistance, the atomizer and the requested power is essential because the power delivered will take into account all these parameters to deliver its best.

 In temperature control mode, I was only able to test on NI200, no longer having stainless steel (I recommended it, you don't mind!) And having little confidence in titanium. Well, no bad surprises, it works optimally. Dry and at a temperature of 280 ° C (which I refuse to exceed so as not to generate acrolein), cotton does not flinch. The marriage between power and temperature is easy to make and a perfect result is obtained very quickly.

 In comparison, the rendering of the DNA200 in a quiet vape (at least the original one without having modified the parameters by Escribe) is more nervous. We feel that the power is there immediately, without levels. We even have the impression that the power delivered is greater than that displayed. While the RX200 seems more “in the nails” but also a little more flexible. A powerful vape, the two are equal and take you in the same way in whirlpools of vapor.

Flats? Yes but not determinative.

Like the DNA200, we have the impression that the power drops very slightly depending on the charge of the batteries. Difficult, without adequate equipment, to be sure, however, but sometimes an impression is a good indicator. This is not a problem, just add about 5% to the desired power to regain the feeling of fullness of the setting (from 20 to 21W approximately for example). This impression only happens once, when the batteries announce about 3.6V of charge. Thereafter, there is no tumbling effect depending on the charge rate of the batteries. I think a future upgrade will eliminate the problem.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

It is sometimes difficult to control yourself, even though you have to keep a certain coolness for the most objective analysis possible, in front of material that you really like. But, in this final chapter of the review, I let myself go to tell you that the RX200 is, in my opinion, the box of the year. No more no less.

Why ? Because beyond all its qualities and its rare faults, it opens up a real democratization of high-end equipment. And I am personally happy to know that vapers will be able to vape on such a box because the price is not dissuasive compared to the performance offered or the quality of finish.

Just for that, I am launching a big “Olé” to Wismec who will have understood before everyone else, with the successive releases of the DNA200 and the RX200, that we can offer two similar and yet different products to satisfy the same way all the purses of vaping enthusiasts.

It is well worth a Top Mod that I give it without complaint, so much I am surprised at such quality for such a relatively low price. And if what I'm telling you doesn't convince you, at least you will give me the honesty to give you my true feelings because I ordered one following!
