In the life of a reviewer, it is not often to be offered the test of a solid gold box! As much to say to you that, in addition to the white gloves, I was very careful not to let fall this exotic wonder on the ground…. But let's get to the facts.
BIF Industries is a young American company based in California. We find there pell-mell former engineers of the late Provape but also defectors from Sony. This atypical meeting, to say the least, started from a simple observation: the technical development of vaping tools is hampered by food. In fact, nothing prevents, in theory, from making mods that send a power greater than 500W. Except that the batteries, even in LiPo, cannot deliver an intensity such as that necessary for the use of this power on a wide spectrum of resistances.
The young company therefore had a technological challenge to face and we will then see Sony's involvement in its resolution.
To create the buzz in order to exist quickly on the global vaping market, the fruit of this collaboration had to be materialized by a unique object. It was therefore decided to produce 20 copies of the first mod in solid gold encrusted with diamonds. This explains the astronomical tariff of the Czar, since it is his name. But rest assured, in large series, the mod will be in aeronautical aluminum alloy (all the same) and should cost in the United States, a sum of around $ 230. In Europe, it will therefore be necessary to count rather 270 €, which is still expensive, of course but adapted to the monstrous capacities of the machine that I suggest you discover.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality
First of all, the main material is breathtaking. We may know and expect, it is still disturbing to take in hand a box in solid gold and look, without really believing it, the row of five diamonds (on each side!) Which shines with all their lights. .
The finish is magnificent, although the aesthetics could be considered a bit “rococo” or “bling-bling”, but I think the gold has a lot to do with it all the same. By imagining what the Czar in black aluminum version could give, we say to ourselves that the choice of streaks on the body is immediately less shiny and could even be an asset for the grip, comfortable and having real grip.
The weight is high and still affects comfort but the size is not a brake, it is equivalent to many single-battery boxes without falling into the mini aspect however. And that's what surprises the most, this size / weight ratio which surprises with its density. Gold has a lot to do with it, of course, but there is also the famous revolutionary power system that we will discuss later.
The switch, in mother-of-pearl from Javihah (a region near Hawaii where shells live very popular for their black mother-of-pearl) on a titanium support dyed in the mass in black, is very inspired by the famous Hexohm button, except for its specific shine and the iridescent reflections that run through it. The [+] and [-] buttons are of the same material and offer identical approval with a click sound when using. practical to find your way around and above all very pleasant to handle.
The battery hatch is a pure masterpiece. All in solid gold, it fits perfectly together thanks to the use of bi-carbon neodymium magnets, an alloy resulting directly from the conquest of space and used to secure light parts on the hull of the shuttles. On the production version, we will be entitled to “normal” magnets. The cradle used to accommodate the 18650 battery is made of ferrozinc alloy which has the particularity of being light, of not being conductive and of being much more resistant than a simple plastic cradle. It should continue in the consumer version.
The contacts are in solid gold. They will be gold-plated brass in the series Tzar.
James Mureen, CEO of BIF, told us that the selling price of this ultra-limited edition version was the cost of the box and that the interest for them was not commercial but rather to publicize the advances revolutionary technologies they offer. Either way, don't rush into your A booklet, all 20 copies have already been sold or up for grabs.

Reviewer's comments on functional features
Beyond the very flashy appearance of the Czar, it is in this chapter that all the revolutionary advances offered by the young brand are revealed.
First of all, the batteries since that was the crux of the matter. We know that the behavior of a battery depends a lot on the chemistry it uses. So, we know about lithium-ion, IMR, Lithium Polymer and so on. Each of these chemistries has its own particularities. BIF therefore thought that to improve the performance of a battery, it was necessary to change its chemistry.
Thus, without wanting to go into technical details that I am far from mastering, the manufacturer's engineers have succeeded in polymerizing manganese and combining it with lithium to obtain what they call LiMa. This gives, in a single 18650 battery, an intensity capacity of 130A, a voltage of 7V (approximately) and an autonomy of 14000mAh. Suffice to say that the normal batteries are already destined for extinction since the brand will market these batteries at around € 20 during the year. The good news is that they are compatible with all normal mods and chargers. The difficulty lies in waiting because it takes time to charge 14000mAh ...
BIF Industries should also sell a charger that will be able to deliver 10A, which should reduce the charging time. But for now, we don't have pricing data. We can also notice that these batteries, even if they are cut to the 18650 standard, weigh heavier than normal batteries.
Food is good. It was still necessary to find a chipset capable of exploiting it. Thus, the brand has approached Evolv, the famous American brand specialized in order to obtain an engine up to the situation. Thus was created the DNA700, displaying 700W of power and capable of exploiting the enormous voltage delivered by LiMa batteries.
The DNA700 is neither more nor less than a DNA200 whose calculation algorithms have been reprogrammed to meet this demand. It therefore behaves in the same way with one exception: to send the promised 700W, a new protection circuit has been implemented in order to avoid any accident caused by possible misuse. And as LiMa batteries have the particularity of being chemically very stable, there shouldn't be any particular problem.
Of course, it is permissible to ask the question of the usefulness of such a power and society is aware of it. But recent developments in power-vaping and drippers that are more and more efficient at evacuating heat, not to mention the multiplication of complex wires, are all parameters that make this power not so excessive. Moreover, the brand is working on an atomizer (we do not yet know whether it will be a pure dripper or an RDTA) which will be able to collect all of the available power.
For now, we can appreciate the autonomy given by the battery since 150W, I lasted all afternoon without the battery gauge moving one iota! The engineer assured me that an autonomy of one week was quite possible with a power below 100W!
The box can also be used as a power-bank to charge your mobile phone.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
Delivered in a rather heavy solid wood box, clad with locks and inserts in aged brass, the packaging is completely in keeping with the uniqueness of the object.
Inside, there is a very dense foam covered with burgundy leather which protects the Czar from all shocks. An old-fashioned USB / Micro USB cable, made of woven fabric and telephone wire, is delivered with a parchment authenticity card. The “mine” has the number 17….
The instructions provided also have a burgundy leather cover. What a pity that it is in English only and ignores the technical specifications of the chipset as well as its use. However, you can find the complete user manual in French, here.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product
The rendering is quite simply colossal and we recognize among a thousand the paw of the founder who delivered here an incredible chipset of liveliness. Is it due to the LiMa battery or to the chipset itself, I admit not knowing it but, in any case, the firing triggers an IMMEDIATE heating of the coil, here in double clapton for a resistance of 0.20Ω . It is even breathtaking since, as soon as you put your finger on the switch and press, the double coil is already at the ideal temperature. The latency is perfectly negligible. I dare not imagine the rendering on simpler threads ...
Over four hours of use, the Czar behaves imperially, if I may say so. No untimely heating, a smooth and constant signal. A certain idea of happiness.
Of course, I did not test it at 700W but I was up to 230W on a dripper particularly low in resistance and, how to say, it blows !!!! However, we will not fail to test the production version, with the famous atomizer of the brand which will collect the total power, as soon as possible. A priori, a release in September 2017 of both objects simultaneously is on the program.
The 18650 battery looks like the ones we know. The one I used was black, without a precise brand, but the engineer told me that the final batteries, which will undoubtedly flood the economy of the vape, would probably be produced in quantity by Sony and will be red and gold . An 18000mAh version is still under study.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Apart from the precious aspect of the Czar in its limited version, the good news is pouring in and should positively influence our common passion. Indeed, these new alternative chemistry batteries will undoubtedly be the standard of tomorrow and the maddening power delivered by the chipset is incredible. Moreover, the brand's engineer told me that BIF Industries was already planning, in collaboration with Evolv, on a model exceeding 1200W to come in 2018.
As for you, if you've read this far, I wish you a great April 700st. Don't forget to play pranks on your loved ones like we just did. There is no more Tzar than a miracle battery and if XNUMXW is probably possible in the future, it can still be used to start your car if the battery is dead but, vaping, I doubt that it will work long time.
