On the market since the end of 2015, this box takes up the Hexohm spirit with this intuitive character that distinguishes them from other electronic boxes of the moment. Surric Vapes comes to us from the south of the USA and the Surric X resumes with its decoration, the flag of the Confederates of the time when the ricans were engaged in battle between the north and the south. This being of course, only my humble opinion.

No box or instructions to accompany your purchase, it is regrettable and it will soon be objectionable in the light of European regulations on devices in contact with a power source (it is already, notice).

The box incorporates two batteries in series for fishing and a certain autonomy compared to a simple battery, (up to 50/60 W, that's for sure) which will bring you to powers of 200W if you need it, thanks to the proprietary chipset. No control screen, no potentiometer, but a single button to increase or decrease the intensity (maximum around 20A). So, be sure to insert good batteries with high discharge capacity.

The market segment corresponding to the price of the beast is at the top of the range. Although the object is simple, it is well finished, of a high quality of manufacture and probably very robust to the use.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

190g is the weight without batteries, which makes the Surric a rather heavy material, even though it is essentially composed of aluminum. The thickness of the shell and the lid testify to the will of the manufacturers, to ensure a longevity without deformations to their creation. The lid is magnetic, it is notched at the bottom cap to facilitate its opening, a mortise profile indicates its position and fits against the top cap.

The cradle does not contain extraction tape. It is made of plastic (insulated) and marks [+] and [-] indicate the positioning of the batteries. The interior of the box is very clean, the chipset is ventilated, the control buttons act directly on the components.

The reported 510 connection appears in aluminum and the stainless steel screw pitch, the brass positive pin is floating. No degassing vent is present.

The X decoration is also added, in stainless steel. It is held on the hull by four round-head screws (hexagon) which are flush with the surface of the facades. Aesthetically it's debatable, but the practical side is that laid flat, the box does not get scratched. The sides are engraved with inscriptions, the discretion of which I let you appreciate.

A very beautiful object, perfectly realized, without apparent defect. The buttons have no play, the screw 510 is well made, it's beautiful work.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

The operation is basic. You screw your ato (from 0,1 ohm) and you pulverize. The knob above the switch will serve to increase or decrease the power, point.

To avoid adding an unsightly potentiometer, Surric Vapes preferred the LED or LED option in French, for light-emitting diode. It is an electronic component that emits light and requires only a very low intensity (10 to 20 mA) to operate. Its color varies from green to red to indicate the power at which you are using the box. It's pretty empirical as a way to get your bearings, I admit. On the test model, the LED is protruding, but there is some with the diode integrated in the top cap. 

A small audible signal appears with use, it seems when you pulse. This noise comes from the vibration created by the 1000 pulses per second sequenced by the chipset which resonate with the resistance, I get this from my visit to Arnaud's channel (Geek N Vaps) and from a user's comment. who got him from Larry from Surric Vapes, with whom he had dinner all the same. This sound is not systematic, it is normal and does not mean anything serious.

Let us add that the box is protected against the reversal of polarity of the batteries, a minimum security therefore.

If you are a fan of mecha, or the “feeling” vape, this box should please you. Its signal is flat, its potato is efficient and without lag, you will not be disappointed on that side either. If, on the contrary, you prefer the assistance (sometimes energy consuming) of a complex regulation and a control screen, you risk justified frustration. We quickly get used to these gadgets that new technologies offer us and this box does not contain any.

The feeling vape has the merit of simplicity, it's just a habit to take. With the Surric X, you just need to know your resistance value to pass without surprise from one ato to another. You can also start a session in the green and increase the power until you get a satisfying vape.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

The Ricans invented the Mecca a few years ago now. It seems that the trend of their current production returns to the authenticity of this vape felt, with a regulation with minimal functionality and the possibility of high power without heating the batteries. The Surric X, like the Hexohm V2.1, are machines to send without embellishment.

I quite like the concept, a little less aesthetics and dimensions, much less the lack of instructions for use and lack of respect towards the customer by not providing either transport box / protection / storage . At the price where is sold this object, also very well designed, that's what made the difference between the score obtained and the top mod, it would have otherwise, largely obtained.

The ricans are like that but at Vapelier, we do not let this condescending flippancy pass. We are not the only ones and soon, very soon, this kind of product will simply not be able to sell any more as is in Europe, take advantage of it.
