A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...
- 5 months before TPD
We must admit that we rarely saw a buzz of this type on social networks or forums. Wismec, a Chinese modeller owned by Joyetech releases us one after another a box Presa 75TC high quality and innovative, then a Reuleaux DNA200 (click to see the complete review), equipped as it should be with the latest chipset from Evolv while bringing the brilliant idea to use three 18650 batteries to replace LiPo batteries not necessarily very reliable.
But that's not all, not only the first name Reuleaux squeezes the competition even across the Atlantic by this system and a slightly lower price but in addition, three weeks later, Wismec we lay a Reuleaux RX200 (click to see full review), powered by a Joyetech chipset from 200W for 70 € !!!! I do not even talk about the Noisy Cricket (click to see the full review), an overpowered box mecan whose price is almost an insult to the supporters of the High-end and which is a resounding success!
In short, late 2015 has welcomed the advent of an inventive manufacturer, working together with Jaybo, designer and moderator American and will be passed from the notorious unknown status to that of mega-star of the vape in the space of two months! Never seen memory of vapoteur! By now, to think that the 2016 year will be the year Wismec, there is only one step ...
PAY FAMILY ACCOUNTS ...
Today is the heavyweight fight of the year. In the ring, face to face, two twin sisters clash. White shorts and green water, here is the RX200. Silver and anthracite shorts, here is the DNA200 ... The whole family is gathered to watch this fight and the emotion is incredibly dense in the room. Condensation flows from the ceiling like a downpour of Mars and the silence is slowly, heavy as a lid, as thick as the IQ of a wookie.
At weighing, we have a perfect equality: 200W on each side. Level size and span, we are strictly identical. The shock promises to be hot.
One could believe that this fraternal fight confines the settlement of mafia account within the famiglia. It is not so. On the contrary, we are witnessing a real holdup. By occupying the high-end and mid-range at the same time, on similar powers, Wismec achieved two controlled effects: first, it ensures to cover the entire spectrum of tariffs from the middle market to the high-end. In addition, it imposes a new tariff standard.
Indeed, after the RX200, it will be difficult, while the high-end tenors have praised the DNA200, coming to chouch that the RX200, which has the same shape, the same packaging, the same power, roughly the same. same features and the same quality of finish as his big sister, is a low-cost chinoiserie at a discount. There was the watt price before Wismec, there will be the watt price after. Good for consumers. And that the competitors get to work for the riposte.
The little plus, it is of course the find to have, instead of LiPo batteries recognized as delicate in terms of security and difficult to change, installed in a limited space all three 18650 batteries. In doing so, Wismec sends the American competition a much more reliable and easy to change power system, increases the autonomy and ensures safety and durability. Strike! Flush! Belote and rebelote!
Bilan, the two boxes are a commercial tidal wave. A Tsunami in all shops: "I do not need 200W, do not care, I take it anyway for the price of a 50W competition!"
It remains to know now which of the two Reuleaux is the best. Should we consider the quality / price ratio? Embedded technology? Features? One can always argue by saying: "it's not the same thing, one is equipped by Evolv and the other by Joyetech"! The good deal since both chipsets are comparable in power and functionality. And I can already hear the fortune tellers claiming: "We compare a Rolls to a Twingo"! No, we are comparing a box 200W to another box 200W, where is the problem? Now that we agree on the principle of comparative, let's launch to the discovery of Reuleaux Sisters.
- Sponsors who lent the products for the review: DNA200: MyFree-Cig, RX200: Tech-Steam
- Price: DNA200 : 189.90€ RX200 : 69.90€
- Mod type: Voltage and variable power electronics with temperature control
- Maximum power: 200 watts
- Minimum value in ohms of resistance for a start: 0.05Ω
At this level, we can see the only difference between the two products: the price.
The DNA200 appears as a luxury product, very high-end and the RX200 is positioned in the mid-range. Here, the amplitude between the two sums is certainly explained by two factors: firstly, the DNA200 is powered by the EVOLV chipset of the same name which is particularly expensive to buy, including for a manufacturer. Then, we see that the research and development carried out on the first served for the second, which helps to lower the cost.
Until then, there is no comparison possible. Prices are prices and can only be discussed after further examination.
Physical characteristics and felt quality
- Width or Diameter: 50 x 40 (in mm)
- Length or Height: 83mm
- Weight (with 3 VTC5 rechargeable batteries): 317g
- Material composing the product: Aluminum
- Quality of decoration: Excellent
- Is the coating of the mod sensitive to fingerprints? No
- All components of this mod seem well assembled? Yes
- Fire button position: Lateral near the top cap
- Type of the fire button: DNA200: Mechanical metal on contact rubber, RX200: Mechanical plastic on contact rubber
- Type of user interface buttons: DNA200: Mechanical metal on contact rubber, RX200: Mechanical plastic on contact rubber
- Quality of the interface buttons: Excellent, I love these buttons in every way
- Quality of connection: Excellent
- Quality of manufacture of this product with regard to its price? DNA200: Very good, RX200: Excellent
It is in this chapter that some notable differences begin to appear.
The DNA200 takes a slight, very slight advantage by offering a switch and buttons [+] and [-] metal while the RX200 is content with plastic buttons. At the level of the touch and the "feeling", it is exactly the same thing. Flexible and responsive, very well set in their homes, they do not rattle the handling of boxes. This is not a significant difference. We also see that the button [-] of the DNA200 is marked with a punch that serves as a graduation to the touch while the RX200 is devoid of it.
The weights of the two devices are exactly the same, within +/- 1g and the dimensions are identical.
If the general form is rigorously the same, one realizes, with the game of the 7 errors, some notable differences. The screen of the DNA200 is placed lower on the dedicated face of the mod. Similarly, the screen is stamped in the facade while that of the RX200 is flush to the surface, protected however by a transparent plate. Both choices are good and protect screens effectively. The USB socket, used to charge the batteries (which I advise you, it is better to use, as long as it can, an external charger) and upgrade the firmware for the RX200 or to tweak the parameters for the DNA200, seems to be more depressed in the case of the latter. On the DNA200, it outcrops more and seems less protected. But it may be the test copy.
The finish is very good for both devices. The materials used are the same, whether for the bodywork or the cradle of the three batteries. This is not the comparison that will stumble.
However, it seems important, at this level of comparison, to recall that the quality / price ratio is an important notion. If the finish of both products can be considered excellent, it is clear that if it is closer to the tariff, it becomes exceptional for the RX200 and very correct for the DNA200. Because if we ignore, as any good consumer, the production costs of one compared to the other, our comparison standard becomes the quality / price ratio.
DNA200: Rating of the vapelier as to feelings quality: 4.5 / 5
RX200: Rating of the vapelier as to feelings quality: 4.9 / 5
Evaluation of the packaging
- Presence of a box accompanying the product: Yes
- Would you say that the packaging is up to the price of the product? DNA200: Barely, RX200: Yes
- Presence of a user manual? Yes
- Is the manual understandable for a non-English speaker? DNA200: No, RX200: Yes
- Does the manual explain ALL features? DNA200: No, RX200: Yes
In this chapter, the differences are more obvious and not necessarily in the sense that one could imagine.
If the two packagings are coherent and made of the same materials, that of the DNA200 is smaller but higher and that of the RX200 is therefore larger and lower! Big deal. Nothing very remarkable, then.
In the packaging of the DNA200, there is a USB / Micro USB cable in a dedicated cardboard box while in the RX200, the famous cord lies in the same carton, as an unfortunate ... The two cords are strictly identical. Nothing really amazing there either.
Let's talk about records. That of the DNA200, complex object if any because of the multiple possibilities of customization and the use of a complete software to do this, is a double sheet that looks like nothing. Put on your magnifying glasses or your microscopes, it's written small. In addition, for our friends allergic to the language of Thatcher, it is missed, prepare your antihistamines! The total deprivation of this "notice" which still retains the good taste of being called "Quick Guide" is scary when you know the infinite possibilities of setting and a good pad on the software ESCRIBE was welcome since it is precisely these functional possibilities that make the difference between the two products.
The notice of RX200 is much less summary and, in addition, is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese! It is clearer and even if the descriptions are short, they cover all the features of the product.
Report all this to the rates of the two boxes and do your calculations!
DNA200: Vapelier's note on packaging: 3.5 / 5
RX200: Vapelier's note on packaging: 5 / 5

- Connection type: 510, Ego - via an adapter
- Adjustable positive plot? Yes, through a spring.
- Lock system ? Electronic
- Quality of the locking system: Excellent, the chosen approach is very practical
- Features offered by mod: Battery charge display, Resistance value display, Short circuit protection from atomizer, Reverse battery polarity protection, Display of current vape voltage , Display of the power of the current vape, Temperature control of the resistors of the atomizer, Supports the update of its firmware, Clear diagnostic messages, DNA200: very detailed aesthetic and technical customization

- Maximum diameter in mms of compatibility with an atomizer: 25
- Accuracy of the output power at full charge of the battery: DNA200: At low power, the power sent seems to be greater than that displayed, RX200: Excellent.
To begin, I invite you, to make a comprehensive tour of the features of each box, to consult the unit reviews that we produced. For the DNA200, it's Here. For the RX200, it's There. Similarly, I send you to the software part about ESCRIBE that we developed Ici. The software is downloadable There.
This is where the DNA200 will acquire its acclaim. All the features that can be expected to find on a high-end box are present for both references. The difference is that each feature is pre-set on the RX200 and you can affect all the features of the DNA200 with demonic finesse. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the possibilities of customization that the software ESCRIBE allows you, these possibilities being efficient only when the box is connected to your PC but remain implemented once the cordon removed:
- Real-time analysis of the behavior of the box.
- Real-time analysis of your ato, resistance and resistive wire.
- Customizing the screens.
- Implementation of new resistive wires for temperature control.
- Creation of eight vape profiles that can handle 8 different atomizers.
- Altering the current smoothing to suit your tastes, the signal can be "punches" to be less diesel or "softened" for a softer climb effect.
Of course, this series of possibilities for action on the behavior of your box is accompanied by a certain complexity since you have to take ownership of the software and then understand the effects of each adjustable parameter. I hear from here who will say that "It's a gas plant and to vape, if you have Bac + 12, we have not arrived" ! I can hear it because everyone has their choice but this box, through the chipset Evolv, is primarily for the Geeks of the vape who will find a panel of customization that will allow them to best manage their practice and each of their atomizers. The possibilities being virtually infinite, they allow to finely adjust all material adequations.
Not that on the RX200, it will be necessary to you "satisfied" factory pre-adjustments. You can however upgrade the firmware to take advantage of the latest developments.
However, it is at the level of functionality that operates the major difference between the two boxes. The RX200 is aimed at each vaper, by its simplicity of action and the quality of its rendering. The DNA200 is primarily intended for experts of the vape who really want to influence the quality of their practice. These are two opposing philosophies, under the same appearance. And if, in the balance sheet, I maintain that it is here the comparison of two boxes similar in power and functionality, it is not possible to remove the DNA200 this diabolical precision that can be achieved , different for each atomizer used and such a level of influence on the customization of the vape is paid.

The rendering in vape and use
Attention, we enter here in the subjective galaxy. A weight or a size remains a weight or a size, we can see them but not put an emotional charge on them. On the other hand, an appreciation of the rendering can be, in essence, only different according to the users, the atomizers employed or even the assemblies. Do not lose sight of it. Here, we will talk about my personal feelings. Even if the test is done with the same atomizers, the same montages and the same liquids to try a valid comparison, my vape is probably different from yours. In addition, I will use the settings "factory" of the DNA200, which amputates the product of much of its interest.
For the purposes of the test, I bring myself three atomizers which I consider representative of the production:
- A Taifun GT mounted in 0.9Ω steel 316L and Fiber Freaks density 2 with an e-liquid in 60 / 40 for powers below 20W
- A Subtank Mini V2, mounted in 0.4Ω in NI200 and Fiber Freaks density 2 with an e-liquid in 40 / 60 for the powers between 20 and 50W
- A Mini Royal Hunter mounted in 0.3Ω in Kanthal and Bacon V2 with e-liquid in 100% VG for power between 50 and 100W
- A V3 Mutation X mounted in kanthal and Bacon V2 around 0.15Ω for high power tests higher than 100W.
Both Reuleaux are equipped with SONY VTC5 and I still insist on the obligation, for this type of material intended to send high intensities, to use batteries with strong maximum discharge current.
At power less than 20W, the two boxes behave differently. The vape of the DNA200 is punchy and precise. We feel that the current puncher is set to send fast and well. However, we do not have hot effects, even at 19W. It is imperceptibly felt that the power sent seems stronger than that announced but this is not the case. It's just the rise time that is fast. In contrast, the RX200 seems more moderate thanks to or because of a slightly longer rise time. Which creates a tasty, softer look. The precision of the aromas goes to the DNA200, sensuality to the RX200.
In temperature control set on 250 ° C to 50W, the two boxes behave identically. The rendering is powerful and generous in both cases although, in use, the use of temperature control is easier on the RX200 than on the DNA200. No problem to report, the vape is quite stable and comfortable. Perfect equality for equivalent renderings.
Between 50 and 100W, same thing. The renderings are perfect and the steam gushes out like a volcano. The two boxes are shock and their design, helped by the presence of SONY batteries (I have no shares at Sony but if they want to propose me, I can accept ...) is perfectly shock. Of course, the power consumption starts to be high in both cases.
Beyond 100W and up to 130W, threshold I stopped before emptying all my bottles of juice (small nature that I am ... would tell me Toff), it's still perfect. The material does not stumble, the steam becomes immense and intense, as it is foreseeable that it is in this case. If it was not necessary to fill the dripper almost every two taffs, we would be in paradise of the clouders. Again, no noticeable difference in behavior.
Now some remarks:
- The battery meter on the DNA200 looks skewed. It is pessimistic and when the EVOLV displays an almost empty graph, the chipset Joyetech displays a good third of reserve. And, to have gone all the way, it is rather Joyetech who was right.
- The DNA200 consumes more than the RX200 at the same power. So I deduce that the American chipset is more energy hungry.
- In temperature control, the RX200 is easier to use. No frills, it works without having an engineering degree in your pocket.
In the balance, the difference is rather on the lowest power but there is still between 15 and 50W a trend of the DNA200 to more dryness, brutality and accuracy. The RX200 is a powerful box if you compare it to others but it blows the blow on the rise time compared to the DNA200, which personally suits me better but may not be suitable for everyone. It is thus recovered on a more dense vapor, a softer and subtle rendering. Be careful though, the difference is far from obvious and requires a good training and really have both boxes in the hands to do it. In no case can it be said that the rendering of the RX200 is radically lower than that of the DNA200. He's just different.
DNA200: Vapelier's note regarding the rendering: 4.9 / 5
RX200: Vapelier's note regarding the rendering: 4.7 / 5
IN THE BALANCE SHEET, KENOBI!
The big winner of this comparison is Wismec, for sure. Because these two productions, released almost at the same time, are exciting to explore and to vape.
Where the DNA200 offers infinite customization possibilities and a slightly more precise vape, the RX200 retorts with a blissful sweetness and autonomy. You will definitely think: "He makes us the blow of the school of the fans, everybody has won, everyone is happy!" Well, dear friends, it was not the goal at all and I preferred 100 once that more flagrant differences can be drawn which would have allowed me to give free rein to my natural malice. But the major fact is that despite a difference in tariff ranging from single to triple (!), The two boxes play in the same quality category.
If we summarize, we have the same quality finish, an identical presentation, beautiful rendering even if different and similar features. The DNA200 highlights its original capabilities of customization and control parameters. The RX200 values its simplicity of operation and its reliability. The match was exciting but it ended with a no-contest, a tie.
Nevertheless, since we must also include the tariff parameter in this equation with two unknowns, the result will value the RX200 which is not only at an attractive price but also completely new. In terms of price / quality ratio, it is now unassailable and stands out as THE reference in all directions, both in terms of features, rendering, finishing and pricing. Without doubt to date, the best compromise in the world.
The DNA200 is far from demerit but its luxurious price, if it is objectively valued by a devastating power and features that foreshadow the future of the vape, belongs to the past. There was the moment before the RX200, there is the moment and this box that looks so much like a Starwars droid may well have changed the game in terms of high-end mods. A "new hope" is on the way but beware if "the empire counter-attack"!
Overall average of the Vapelier for DNA200: 4.7 / 5
