It never goes long between two outings at the number one discount vape, Eleaf. The line of Istick never stops receiving new references.
The newcomer is called Melo 60W, a compact box capable of reaching 60W, as its name suggests and which has a load capacity of 4400mah.
In this kit, it is accompanied by a Melo 4 D22, the 4th version of the flagship sub-ohm clearomizer of the Chinese brand.
In the idea, I have the impression that this box could be the worthy descendant of the Istick 40TC which is to date, for me, the best variation of this range.
So let's see if my intuition is confirmed.

At first glance, we immediately recognize which series belongs our box, its coating, its basic forms, finally, it is impossible to be wrong on the filiation of this box.
Our Istick Melo is part of a certain verticality. Indeed, the screen is located directly on the top cap and the USB port on a small chrome projection that extends over the top of one of the edges.
As often, the edges are rounded. If, as we have seen, the USB port occupies the top of one of them, the other accommodates the switch which takes an ovoid rectangular shape and which follows the curvature of this “small side”.
The bar +/-, it finds its place just next to that of the screen. If the switch is, as often, moderately adjusted, the adjustment control, it is perfectly in line with the quality standards in vogue.
As always, we are entitled to anodized surface treatment and it goes without saying that you will have a certain choice of colors.
The dimensions are quite compact for a box that still has a reserve of 4400mAh.
The spring-mounted 510 port will be able to accommodate atomizers of 22mm maximum, this may be a small brake given the number of atomizers that come out in 24mm today.
The Melo 4 is, as its name suggests, the 4rd version of the sub-ohm clearomiser by Eleaf. We have already had the opportunity to meet him in the Ikunn i80 kit. It has a more sophisticated design than its predecessors, the Melo 4 is less “smooth”. In this 22mm version, its tank will contain 2ml, the top-cap is sliding, the airflow is wide ... in short, it theoretically has something to satisfy fans of sub-ohmic air vaping.
This kit is part of a kind of continuity for this range. No stylistic revolution, we know where we are going and the overall quality is completely within the usual standards of the Chinese brand which correspond perfectly to what is expected for this price level.

Our new Istick has most of the existing features. Thus, we find a variable power mode, conventional temperature control modes and TCR and a By-pass mode.
The variable power mode allows you to vary the watts on a scale of 1 to 60 with resistors whose value must be between 0.1 and 3.5Ω. This range of values for the coils is the same for the By-pass mode which, I remind you, causes the box to adopt a mechanical mod behavior, that is to say that the power of the vape depends directly on the level of the batteries.
CT modes can be used with assemblies with a value between 0.05 and 1.5Ω. The temperature control is compatible with different wires: Ni200, SS316, and Titanium. The temperature can be varied from 100 ° to 315 ° C.
We have 4400Mah, which suggests a good autonomy. The built-in battery is recharged using the USB port, the box can withstand a charging current of up to 2A of intensity and we note the presence of a special ENU protection which, according to what is said in the manual, protects the box during recharging against too high or too low ambient temperatures (charging possible between -5 ° C and 50 ° C).
Finally on the chipset part, we will signal the presence of the puff timer, the possibility of switching to stealth mode (screen off) to save the battery. You can also change the orientation of the screen and lock the controls. We can deplore the absence of a booster.
As for the Melo 4, we are on a classic, we fill it from the top thanks to the sliding top-cap. Sub-ohm resistors are made to mount in generous turns and airholes are adjustable. In this version 22mm, the tank welcomes 2 ml. The drip-tip is quite wide but it is 510 type.
So much for the functional features of our kit, it looks good in all respects.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
We are faced with a type of packaging that regulars of the brand know well. A rigid cardboard box of the “cobblestone” type. As always, our product photo is on the top side. Eleaf logos on the right and left sides adorn the sides of the pack and, on the back, we find the content and mandatory legal inscriptions.
In our box, we discover our box and its clearomiser, two resistors, a spare pyrex tank, seals and the USB cord.
Two instructions, one for the box and one for the atomizer, are translated into French.
A presentation certainly a little bland but effective and in total adequacy with the tariff positioning.

Our Melo is of a very reasonable size, it will be ideal to accompany you in your daily life and, with 4400mAh, no worry of autonomy.
The piloting of our new Istick is also very classic for the aficionados of the brand. 5 clicks on the switch to turn off or start the box. Then 3 will be pressed on the same button to enter the mode selection menu, which will move with the +/- button. To validate his choices, press the fire button.
Some other more secondary manipulations will be discovered in the manual but don't worry, there is nothing difficult and you will only need a few minutes to assimilate them all.
The battery is charged through the micro USB port, the box can support a current of up to 2A to allow rapid charging.
The chipset behaves well and does not suffer from major flaws, the box is sufficiently responsive, even if we are below the chipsets offered on boxes of the upper class.
As for the Melo, again everything is very simple. Filling it is child's play thanks to the sliding top-cap which reveals a comfortable opening.
The establishment of resistance does not pose any particular difficulty. We screw it on the base and that's it. Just remember not to neglect the priming phase because otherwise your taste buds will remember it.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
Eleaf maintains a very steady pace of output, for good results, see very good or worse ;-).
This Melo, by its skills and its overall design, seems to present itself as a worthy heiress. It adopts a very versatile chipset thanks to all the modes it offers.
Yesterday, the 40W power of the Istick of the same name was somehow a certain peak but, after the breakthrough of the air sub-ohm vape, this average power has increased and the newcomer seems better suited to this state of made.
With 60W and 4400mAh, we can say that it has great assets to become a new benchmark, especially given the very reasonable price of the beautiful.
It is true that it does not bring anything really new, but it has what is needed where it is needed.
But there is a little “but”, well for me… I do not quite find the qualitative feeling and the new aspect that the TC40 (first financially affordable box which used this technology) had and that our Mélo kit seems to want replace.
Either way, a better-than-good new Istick that I think should meet its audience without much worry.
