Reviewer comments on business characteristics

There is an affirmation which is evident today, it is that the Joyetech - Eleaf - Wismec group is becoming the biggest company of vaping equipment. Indeed, the three manufacturers are on all fronts. If Eleaf provides the entry level with ingenious products, Wismec provides the top with increasingly technological objects and very easy to renew quickly. Joyetech occupying the middle of the field with smart products and takes care of the electronics of all these beautiful people. And each benefits from the advances of the other two by pooling good ideas and applying them to their different brands.

The product that we are analyzing today is, as usual, an inexpensive product, occupying the entry of the mid-range and offers for that price a complete box with all the possible functions as well as an atomizer, inspired of the now famous Cubis, who had the excellent idea of becoming a parallelepiped so as to be fixed on the top of the box for a downright brilliant aesthetic. Better still, it's difficult.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Range

Even if that would be sufficient for a new product destined to replace, in terms of placement, an Evic VTC Mini yet still in the game, Joyetech would not be Joyetech if it did not include in its new kit the novelty house inherited from Wismec : the Notch Coil. It is therefore done and we will of course dwell on it, even though the Theorem from Wismec, equipped with the same novelty, is coming out these days.

This kit is therefore very tempting on paper, for a daily and nomadic vape. Let's see what it is in practice.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

Regarding the box part, we are in the presence of a box quite close in terms of the measurements of an Evic VTC Mini but sexier in terms of its appearance, borrowed from the Cuboid. The box holds beautifully in the hand and the grip is perfect. No problem with fingerprints, except on the vertical glass part which accommodates the screen and divides the box into two parts.

On the front of the screen, there is a single rectangular button of good size in plastic which includes the usual buttons [+] and [-]. Its location is ideal because it allows in the same movement to view all the information on the screen while manipulating the button just below for settings. Its ergonomics are quite intuitive.

Joyetech Cuboid mini Box only

On the width, we find the switch, simple and falling perfectly under the fingers, whether it is the thumb or index finger in revolver grip. It seems to be made of aluminum like the rest of the box and is really very responsive, does not move in its place and does not click. Moreover, one of the main facts that we notice is the total absence of latency between the firing and the triggering of the steam, so that we must of course between the perfect match between the mechanical parts and the dynamism of the chipset. In short, it works with the fire of God and with all possible atomizers.

Joyetech Cuboid mini Switch

On the top-cap of the box, there is a beautifully crafted 510 connection, with a spring-mounted brass stud. The use of an atomizer or carto-tank, taking its air through the 510 connection, is made possible by the presence of conventional but well thought-out ventilation channels since a channel dug into the top-cap takes care of feed all these beautiful people air, even if the atomizer is flush on the connection, which will be the case.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Box Top

The bottom-cap has nineteen vents necessary for internal cooling and useful in case of degassing. There is also a reset button, accessible with a needle at the bottom of a tiny hole, which is likely to reset the box in the event of a failure. An additional guarantee of proper functioning.

Joyetech Cuboid mini Bottom

The last width only has the micro USB input, useful for recharging the mod and for upgrading the firmware. We know that Joyetech ensures good maintenance and evolution of its equipment, so you will certainly have the opportunity to proceed with this upgrade and you will appreciate the ease of it.

The coating is pleasant, both to the eye and to the touch and seems, as usual with the manufacturer, perfectly solid and well laid.

Regarding the atomizer part, so we have a small brick capable of holding 5ml of your favorite juice without reluctance. If the form can be thoughtful at first glance, we quickly understand that we have before our eyes a Cubis whose form-factor has been adapted to work in tandem with the Cuboïd mini. And it is clear that the tandem works wonderfully, aesthetically speaking! It doesn't stick out, it's flush like the straight of the same name and it invents a new general shape that is very attractive.

Joyetech Cuboid mini In two

The atomizer has a large pyrex glass, on one side, which gives a very clear view of the liquid remaining inside. Care should be taken not to exceed the max indicator since by plunging the resistance head and top-cap assembly into it, you risk causing the overflow to flow through the access. Note that, on the first batches, the “max” indicator is not present. Nothing serious, the filling is so easy given the gaping opening left by the top-cap once unscrewed, that you yourself can carry out the necessary trial and error to really know where to stop.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Ass Ato

In terms of quality, we are on the perfect. The ato is heavy in hand, perfectly machined and finished. It's Joyetech. A slight flaw however, its shape makes it difficult to exploit on another mod. But that's not the point. Definitely.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Regarding the box, it's much easier to list what the box does not do than risk an exhaustive overview of the features. Be aware:

  • Variable power between 1 and 80W on resistors between 0.1 and 3.5Ω.
  • Temperature control on Ni200, titanium or stainless steel 316 between 100 and 315 ° C, on resistances between 0.05 and 1.5Ω.
  • Customizable TCR temperature control for different resistive wires like NiFe, Nichrome and others.
  • By-Pass mode for mechanic-like operation.

I give you thanks for the protections that benefit the Cuboid. The only thing that the chipset will not protect you is the angry look of your spouse when she or he will find that you have still cracked for new material! The rest is even more secure than Fort Knox.

The box uses a 2400mAh proprietary battery and the box seems to have a very good autonomy of a few good hours, at 50W on the Notch Coil resistance in 0.25Ω, a sign of a correct use of energy. You can also increase this autonomy a little further by using the stealth mode which disconnects the display from the screen at the slightest push on the switch.

Joyetech Cuboid mini Back

About the ato part, it is the waking dream! Not only will you have the choice between the seven different types of compatible resistors (BF Ni in 0.2Ω, BF Ti in 0.4Ω, BF SS in 0.5Ω, BF SS in 0.6Ω, BF SS in 1Ω or even BF Clapton in 1.5 Ω) but in addition, you can taste the joys of rebuilding using the RBA tray (supplied with the kit).

Joyetech CUboid Mini Resistance Range

The operation of the ato is very simple. When you unscrew the top-cap, you cannot miss it, it is round, located above the ato and includes the drip-tip, at the same time you remove the resistance which appears at the end. The entire block comes out of its housing, revealing a gaping hole that you use for filling. Then, you put the whole thing back on and you tighten, the resistance makes contact with the bottom of the tank, which loops the electrical circuit and you screw tight.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Eclate Ato

When the top-cap is tight, the ring adjusts the airflow, taken from the top of the atomizer to ensure a flawless seal. It goes from blocked to relatively aerial, we'll talk about it again, in a quarter of a turn. So it's up to you to estimate your own airflow, not by placing it on predisposed airholes but by simple feeling. It's very intuitive and it works well, within the limits that we will see later.

  • Would you say that the packaging is up to the price of the product? Yes
  • Presence of a user manual? Yes
  • Is the manual understandable for a non-English speaker? Yes
  • Does the manual explain ALL features? Yes

Vapelier's note on packaging: 5 / 5 5 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging is a textbook case answering the question: "How to put in a cardboard box everything necessary for the vapoteur to be happy?"

Joyetech Cuboid mini Pack

So, in the now traditional Joyetech box, you will find a first stage occupied by the assembled kit, box plus ato. In the basement, it's downright the Samaritaine! You will find :

  • A resistance BF SS in 0.5Ω
  • A BF Clapton resistance in 1.5Ω
  • A rebuildable RBA resistor
  • 1 USB / Micro USB cable
  • 1 notice in french for the box (multi-languages)
  • 1 multi-language notice for ato (including French)
  • A cardboard detailing the different kinds of resistances and their capabilities
  • A warranty card
  • A bag including an anti-liquid upflow drip-tip, 2 BTR screws and a corresponding key (I specify that not all batches are provided)

And, of course, the famous Notch Coil resistance in 0.25Ω awaits you wisely, already pre-mounted on the atomizer.

I have the audacity to think that, for less than 75 €, here is the most complete packaging that I have been given to open. The competition is depressed. And not to mention some high-end machines that arrive in bubble wrap, I can only see that the consumer is not taken for an idiot and that we are facing the new standard when it comes to value for money.

Appreciations in use

  • Transport facilities with the test atomizer: Ok for an inside jacket pocket (no deformations)
  • Disassembly and cleaning facilities: Super simple, even blind in the dark!
  • Easy to change batteries: Not applicable, the battery is only rechargeable
  • Did the mod heat up? No
  • Has there been any erratic behavior after a day of use? No
  • Description of situations in which the product has experienced erratic behavior

Vapelier's rating in terms of ease of use: 5/5 5 5 out of stars

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

Regarding the box part, the mod behaves perfectly in all cases.

Mounted with a double-coiled dripper, he just sends out awesome clouds and no power seems to scare him.

With a more cushy RTA, it distills its electricity in a straight and smooth manner and wins all the votes in terms of the restitution of flavors. We often neglect this aspect at the level of mods but it is clear that with equal atomizer and equal power, all mods are not equal in the general rendering. The fault often lies with the imprecision of a chipset, a too marked boost effect or, on the contrary, too much latency.

Here, it's the golden mean that allows you to use any type of ato and end up with an optimal vape. Those who are familiar with the Reuleaux, the Evic VTC Mini, the Presa 75W TC or other Vapor Flask will not be disoriented.

The autonomy is correct. It will of course vary depending on the performance you ask for your box but it gives the impression of being optimized and that no energy is wasted on the way.

This box is well in the genetics of the mark. Strength, reliability, performance. The box style that you really don't regret bringing with you when traveling or at work.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Notice res

Regarding the ato part, it's a pretty slap. Cubis lovers, and there are many of you (one of the biggest sales of the start of the year), you will be on familiar ground. The rendering is very close and the shape does not matter, everything is in this ingenious system of resistance and airflow.

The vape is fleshy, structured. We have taste, thickness and vapor. I consider this Cubis / Ato Cuboïd Mini tandem a bit like the worthy descendants of a Nautilus as a clearomiser. A clearomizer suitable for beginners, depending on the resistance chosen, but also capable of thrilling old vape adventurers with another. Versatile, simple and completely devoid of the slightest leak, it is the clearomizer of the moment.

The RBA platform works well but does not seem to bring any added value. The assembly is not difficult in the extreme but the small size of the workspace, the need to make a 90 ° angle to one of the legs and having to put the other perfectly straight is not so simple to achieve. In addition, the cotton must necessarily be in a fairly fine pad if you want to do enough turns for the capillarity to work well. Too many turns will simply make the assembly impossible to fit into the bottleneck. And all this for a rendering that is certainly nice but, in the end, not so different than that obtained by the pre-mounted resistors.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Ato

And the Notch Coil ????  Well yes, it is still one of the great novelties offered by this kit and we will not ignore it.

For those who don't know, the Notch Coil was designed by Wismec and Jaybo. It is a tubular resistance in stainless steel, not wired. It looks like a small tube, pierced with slits through which the liquid accesses the cotton trapped in the tube.

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Notch COil

The theoretical advantages are numerous:

First of all, the supposed longevity that we are entitled to imagine superior to a normal wire coil. Of course, it will have to be verified in real life over a longer period of time. In any case, having vaped on it for a week, I did not notice any alteration in taste or weakness in performance.

Then, the heating surface is more important. And we know that this is one of the essential factors in restoring flavors but also in generating vapor. On these points, it is totally successful. The flavors are saturated, the aromas "fart in the mouth" as rarely before and the vapor is dense and very white, even with a liquid in 50/50 of ratio PG / VG. The concept therefore brilliantly passes the test of reality. The rendering is exceptional for a pre-mounted resistance and even superior to some reconstructables.

On the other hand, do not expect a sweet and felted vape. The vape is strong, powerful, literally full of mouth and lungs.

The last advantage is the weakness of the resistance: 0.25Ω. Indeed, for once, the resistance / heating surface ratio is more than interesting.

However, we must put a practical thing into perspective and there lies the only real downside that I have seen in this kit:

Indeed, if the resistor in itself seems capable of facing the theoretical power of 70W claimed by the manufacturer, the Cuboid Mini atomizer will not follow. This is due to the lack of ventilation which, although it is largely sufficient to vape up to 45W quietly with this resistance, will not allow sufficient cooling to greatly exceed this limit. Already, at 50W, the heat becomes troublesome for certain liquids, airflow fully open. At 60W, it is untenable, much too hot and I have not tested above because I imagine that the effect is getting worse.

So, if the resistance does more than keep its promises, it is the atomizer that accuses the blow by the design of its airflow. Nothing dramatic however, because at 45W, the sensations are largely at the rendezvous, whether in terms of flavors and steam. You will not do a cloud-contest so equipped but remember that the Cuboïd Mini is a clearomizer and rather versatile. This resets the debate.

I look forward to testing this new form of resistance on Wismec's Theorem which should overcome this slight defect thanks to a more substantial airflow.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

This kit is undeniably good news. It concerns all vapers, at any level of practice.

Solid, seriously thought out and realized, the Cuboïd Mini kit is a stone in the pond. Introducing the new Notch Coil resistance, it does better than succeed. Because, even by counting the slight “lack” of compatibility between this resistance and the too weak aeration of the atomizer, we arrive at a result much more than coherent.

Taste, vapor, an impeccable chipset, a new and devilishly efficient clearomizer and a look to die for. It does not take more to get a Top Mod deserved by a set which, to the extent of its performance and its specificities, allows itself to arrogate to itself a nice price.

This is undoubtedly the secret of elegance.
