Reviewer comments on business characteristics

Today, we are going to review a strange object, rare if there ever was one, which will nevertheless remind the oldest vapers of many cloudy evenings. So to say that there is also, between the pro-drippers, the pro-clearo-subohm and the pro-atos with depression, a different form of vape but just as interesting.

The object I am holding in my hand comes from Athea Mods, a French moderator who is currently enjoying great success with seasoned vapers thanks to his genesis In'Ax atomizer and the little pearl that we are going to discover together: the In'Ax Carto.

Built to work in conjunction with a Billet Box mod or, more simply, any carto tank accepting 35mm cartos, the In'Ax Carto presents the typical morphology to its category and joins previous attempts such as the Diver for example in the niche. narrow but oh so interesting reconstructable maps.

The moderator nevertheless chose another rather radical approach, the In'Ax carto preferably amounting, like its predecessor, the In'Ax (you follow, eh?) In genesis with the use of mandatory mesh. Do not panic ! Don't run away! Genesis is not difficult, it just requires a certain concentration to get some nice edits that will work well, and even very well. You just have to follow a suitable method which, after a few wanderings and various experiences, sometimes take less time than a cotton microcoil assembly.

Moreover, if the use of mesh scares you at this point, we can also mount this cotton atomizer but we miss out on a new and enriching experience in the life of any vaping geek. !

If the price may seem high compared to the size of the atomizer, remember that the diamond is also expensive compared to its size and that everything is not just a question of size in life ...…

In order to make the best use of this map, I will use in this review the Loki tank, from Atmomixani. A well made, well finished tank, which I will not talk about later. I thank Xavier from My-Free Cig for this loan.

Reviewer's comments on physical characteristics and perceived quality

We will start from the beginning, emphasizing a simple fact. The in'Ax Carto itself does not contain liquid, it only feeds when paired with a carto-tank of your choice. In this sense, it is different from industrial cartos because, if it contains a capillary material to take the liquid to the resistance (the mesh), it does not contain a capillary for the conservation of the liquid. So, its own capacity is zero but that's good, that's not what we ask.

The manufacturing, machining and finishing, as always with Athea, does not present any defect. The carto is clean, seems tough and made to last. The seals are effective and the design of the whole shows once again that France is far from being a country to pick up on progress in terms of equipment.

The central axis seems fragile because it is very thin but will be more than enough to do its job, as long as it is spared a little all the same. Anyway, there is a spare just in case. But what is exciting here lies a little further, in the very concept of ato which combines with great skill the proven technique of genesis editing and the use of a single central axis to do the editing.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Beyond the functionalities that are limited in any case to vaporize liquid, it is important to understand the principle of operation. To do this, I made a diagram below:

Athea InAx Carto Schema

And here is the methodology:

   1. We loosen and remove the locking wheel that will serve us later to fix the leg of the coil connected to the ground.
  2. We roll up superfine mesh (200 recommended) after having previously passed it with a torch to avoid short circuits.
  3. The tube obtained is threaded around the vertical axis. The tube goes down to the level of the liquid intakes.
  4. 3 or 4 turns around the mesh.
  5. We block the lower coil tab with the help of the wheel. The “negative” is thus connected.
  6. We block the tab of the top coil with the supplied blocker (which looks like a small spring) directly on the axis. The positive is connected.

The aiflow is taken directly by the 510 connection using 4 airholes of about 1mm each. One can, using a tip of a toothpick or other hack, condemn one or more of these airholes to adapt the flow. While knowing that the device is not made, even wide open, for very airy vaping.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging is original: a square plastic case containing the carto and the following elements:
- 6 blockers to clamp the resistive wire not all having the same internal diameter, probably to have the choice of gauge of the resistive wire.
- 1 spare axis
- 1 guide to wind the mesh to the right section.

It's simple but comprehensive. No instructions, alas. However, this carto would have well deserved one!

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

The In'Ax carto is not a beginner atomizer. Although the assembly is not complex, it requires several tests and adaptations to really have an optimal rendering. Ready-to-vape fans can look elsewhere, this material is part of a long tradition of reconstructable that will have to be mastered to get its guts out.

My first edit was a failure. The mesh was not rolled tight enough and I had used 0.30 kanthal on 3 turns. In summary, the resistance was too low, the mesh too capillary and I experienced the pangs of gurgling. Well done for me, I should have better remembered my genesis years ...

After another less risky but unconvincing edit, I managed on my third try to get the result I expected. For that, I really made sure to “pack” the mesh well when winding. Then, I used 0.25 kanthal on 4 turns, thus obtaining a resistance of 1.2. I balanced my turns well, did not notice any delicate point and I filled my tank.

Athea InAx Carto Montage

The rendering is excellent, as long as you like this type of vape. A hot vapor, perfect for tobacco or gourmet tobacco. A carto vape, what! But with the constancy of the capillarity of a genesis assembly and a rather dense vapor. We can succeed in achieving strong enough powers (for the category of course, around 17 / 21W). Beyond that, even if the assembly and the fluid intake ensure flawless capillarity, high temperatures are reached which adversely affect the quality of the flavors.

Since we are talking about taste, the narrowness of the vaporization chamber (9mm in diameter) induces a great concentration of flavors and the result is saturated with aromas, hot and tight but without excess.

The In'Ax widely accepts 100% VG liquids and its only limitation in use will be the quality of your assembly. Remember to add a well-made tank to avoid any leaks. The Loki has done his job and others will do just as well.

You can also create a cotton or Fiber Freaks sheath and wrap it around the vertical axis. I admit not having tried because I was very satisfied with the mesh assembly.

The mood ticket of the reviewer

Such an object will find its place in a vapoteur experienced in the exercise of the reconstructible. It will fundamentally displease lovers of large sub-ohmic clouds but will delight tobacco lovers (and there are still plenty of them, I reassure you 😉) by its hot and very dense vape, highlighting the flavor of an e -liquid, regardless of its PG / VG ratio.

This is necessarily a “niche” atomizer, which will not be unanimous but which may remind some of us that the carto vape was not, and far from it, a vape in discount and that the genesis is not obsolete. And it will no doubt be able to convince curious vapers who will discover another facet of the vape, more gourmet, more cigarette-like, in any case very different.

A real challenge that brilliantly took up the moderator who also gives us the opportunity to put our hands in the engine to succeed in efficient assemblies! No porn-coil, but love-coil!
