From this combination of talents was born the E-square, now available with all the evolutions of the famous DNA, until the latest: the DNA 200W. The one that interests us today is the 40W TC
A very design box, double batteries, delivered in a plastic box for 179 €, (that's not nothing!). Will it keep the promises that we are entitled to expect from an object of this price?

It is the aesthetics that jump to the eye when opening the box. This is a twill carbon fiber sheet finish that gives the E-square its character. It is placed on the surface of the facades, under protection probably in polycarbonate, subject to fingerprints like any shiny surface, confronted with a self-respecting dryer, ie hands full of juice… ..
The black lacquered frame is made of 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum which is particularly resistant to impact and deformation, as well as to possible corrosion. The recessed 510 connector is made of stainless steel, its adjustable spring-loaded pin is made of gold-plated brass, the battery contactor pads are made of copper / phosphorus, a particularly conductive alloy.
The cover allowing access / protection of the batteries is interchangeable, it slides by the sides of the front panel, and is locked by means of spring-mounted balls which maintain it by going up in their housing ensuring the closed position.
The circular switch of 11mm in diameter is made of silent stainless steel and short of pressure, a slight sound confirming its operation. It has a depressed position relative to the frame. The 2 stainless steel metal buttons used for settings and for selecting TC or VW mode are very small, 4mm in diameter, fortunately they are flush with the frame to make them functional.
The OLED screen, typical of DNA, is located on the non-removable face, vertical in the direction of the length of the box, it is an extension of the 510 connector slightly forward, close to the switch and the buttons located, them, on the side.
The micro USB connection is accompanied by a heat dissipation vent, the charging module accepts an output of 1 Ah.
At first glance, the object is beautiful, very well finished, functional, solid and well designed. Its weight is in relation to the quality of the materials used, quite acceptable.

The functional characteristics of this box, in addition to its regulation part, are to say the least, an adjustable spring-loaded 510 connector, recharging possible via the USB / MicroUSB cable on the supplied reel and a sliding cover to access the battery compartment. That's all folks!
A first criticism arises when the design of this box, it concerns the cradle part of the batteries (flat top only). It is offered very fair in proportions. If it has the advantage of maintaining the batteries well, it has the disadvantage when you want to remove them, not being equipped with extraction tape. You will need to use a flat non-conductive object that is strong enough to give enough leverage to dislodge the batteries without breaking. A particular point not vital but regrettable for a box of this price and of good overall quality.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning
Another rather poor point: the cheap packaging like a transparent plastic box in 2 parts (box and cover taped together). If the box is well housed in its blister pack of white foam, accompanied by the USB winding cable, we can regret the poor quality of this brittle box and frankly the opposite of the box that it preserves somehow. A user manual as well as adhesives (used to change the look of one of the facades) are also provided.
Appreciations in use

As for discussing the use of E-square, this amounts to explaining the various functions of Evolv's DNA 40 “Gold”, let's go for the enumeration.
As the protections are already detailed in the protocol, I will not come back to them. Note however that at peak the regulation sends 23A and 16A continuously, which requires you to use "High Drain" high CDM batteries of at least 25A announced by the manufacturer, always together for use and recharging. Another important point is the protection against reverse polarity when inserting batteries does not seem effective “electronically” speaking, the box will not work with only one battery either.
Resistances accepted: 0,16 ohm to 2 ohm in VW, and 0,1 to 1 ohm in Ni or Ti and Temperature Control.
On the screen you will always see the resistance value of your atomizer, the level of remaining charge of the battery, the indicated power set, and the voltage during the vape. In TC Mode the temperature display in ° F or ° C takes the place of the voltage indication.
The trends :
lock / unlock mode (on or off): 5 quick presses on the switch. Stealth mode : discreet mode without display. Right / left handed mode. Fashion Power Locked or locked settings. The screen is highlighted during vaping (when you can't watch it so, very useful isn't it?) Then in normal brightness, when you stop vaping after 10 seconds, without further pressing the switch. After 30 seconds, the screen turns off.

The mood ticket of the reviewer
In short, here is a very beautiful object, not heavy, but of imposing proportions due to its ability to carry 2 batteries, which will suit backpackers for special occasions. Its electronic equipment, although very powerful and widely tested, is it enough to justify the price? In my opinion not really for “city” users or near a place to recharge their batteries.
However, it is necessary to put into perspective because in the case of people frequently faced with travel situations and difficult conditions, this box has assets that can make the difference. It is solid and the contacts cannot oxidize. Without being perfectly waterproof, it withstands prolonged humid outdoor conditions and will operate for a long time without the need to change or recharge the batteries, these specificities can therefore prevail for those who know they are concerned by certain situations where vape for a long time may prove to be impossible.
The expense is then for a long-term strategic acquisition with specific and occasional use.
