Kamry is surfing on the current fashion of boxes and offers us a whole new range from which the Kamry 100 is derived. This electronic box hits hard by investing a resolutely “steampunk” or retro-vintage look by the joint use of wood, a nice dark rosewood in my case and aged metal. The whole releasing a maximum power of 100W, in two stages as very often in this case: a Normal mode and a Super mode which one engages or disengages by pressing three times on the switch. 

The 100 uses two 18650 rechargeable batteries, an easy-to-open battery door with a finger, a well-integrated Oled display on the top cap of the mod, is rechargeable by micro-USB and uses an endless wheel to adjust the power. .

A new arrival therefore in the world of boxs, which is offered at a price of approximately € 120, which places it in the market prices for this type of material, while offering a singular aesthetic that can quite seduce vapers in search for originality.

The mod uses two types of materials:

Rosewood which is therefore a dense and solid wood, widely used in violin making for example and which has the particularity of not being too sensitive to humidity. The veining is very beautiful and the bending applied so as to have a double-tube appearance is totally successful. It is pleasant in the hand, very warm and sufficiently rare in the current “moderie” to be attractive.

The metal used to complete the wood in the “Jules Verne” spirit of the 100 is a specific alloy, Zamak 2 (or kirksite) which is an alloy mainly made of zinc which also contains aluminum and copper among others. Its conductivity is equivalent to that of brass and it has the advantage of being able to be industrially molded. It is an alloy of good hardness. In hand, it seems relatively sensitive to mediums.cro-stripes, so be careful not to tighten your atomizers too tightly. 

The access door to the battery compartment is a real good surprise because it unlocks with a touch of the finger and allows easy access. Note the use of brass pads on springs to wedge the batteries. Even inside, the finish is excellent and the batteries are guided in metal tubes (probably aluminum).

The power adjustment dial is a great idea because it allows you to adjust without needing to change your hand position. Incrementation and decrementation are only done per watt, no tenth here. This could constitute a psychological brake for some. Personally, I didn't see any major drawbacks.

The switch is a little clicking when you manipulate the mod but in use, it does not present any particular defect. It is pleasant to handle and very flexible.

The mod is covered with protections and has a cut-off of 8s to prevent overheating of the integrated circuits. If this rather short cut-off is completely understandable at high power, we can regret that it is not adjustable to vape longer puffs at power less than 20W for example.

Reviewer's comments on functional features

Good and bad things in this area:

I regret the impossibility of regulating one way or another the 510 connection. However, in the facts, I did not encounter any problem with the ten atomizers which I put on it.

It is also regrettable that the chipset does not keep the settings during a possible change of battery even if we must temper this “default” by considering that the mod is rechargeable by micro-usb and that access to the batteries is therefore not mandatory. 

The accuracy of the output in voltage or power of the mod will largely compensate for these defects. Likewise, the error messages are clear and understandable. No more esoteric codes that made it necessary to have the manual on you permanently.

In reality, I only recognize one really annoying flaw in it: the inability to vape when the mod is charging. A pass-throught function would not have been so difficult to implement and the ease of use would have been greatly improved. Pity.

Locking and unlocking the mod can be obtained by clicking on the swtich five times. It's classic and efficient.

Reviewer's comments on conditioning

The packaging remains completely consistent. A hard cardboard box containing a very dense foam perfectly protects the mod during transport. The manual, which shows the characteristics of the 100 but also of the 200 of the same family, is relatively exhaustive and clear. As of course, it is not in French…. We also have a warranty card and… that's it.

Regarding the price of the mod, we could have hoped for a more efficient packaging but we remain in a correct average. The manufacturer doesn't care about the customer but doesn't give gifts either.

Reviewer's comments on the use of the product

In use, this mod is very easy to use and its balance even manages to make you forget its weight, very substantial. It will probably not be suitable for small hands because, if its size is contained for a dual-battery mod, it remains nevertheless important in absolute terms.

The rendering is very constant and very interesting. Kamry has here created his own chipset to motorize the machine and it is successful. We obtain a soft, very voluptuous vape, a bit in the spirit of the Provari series 2. I loved vaping on it because, if the power is there, the mod provides a smooth, pleasant and well-regulated vape. The power seems available quickly, no diesel effect and does not oscillate during the puff taken.

It should be noted that the mod will only provide the possible 100W with resistors between 0.5Ω and 0.7Ω, according to the following table:

The mood ticket of the reviewer

The major quality of the Kamry 100 is that it allows us to vape differently. Beautiful with its very smooth and warm grain wood body. Powerful with 100W under the hood. Autonomous at “normal” power with the two 18650 batteries. Easy with its adjustment wheel. It can appeal to vapers who like to stand out or even have a beautiful object in a noble material.

As we have seen above, it is not, however, free from flaws. Some do not present any gene with the use but others can disconcert or even come annoying like the impossibility of vape in pass-throught.

But, at the time of the assessment, the positive largely wins and if the mod is not given, we can still consider that the quality / price ratio is very favorable. It remains for this Kamry mod to find its clientele among power and wood enthusiasts! The Kamry 100 beautifully demonstrates that the two are far from incompatible.

One last but important reminder: be sure to use this mod with two batteries of the same brand and of the same type, with a large CDM in order to best serve the power of the mod while preserving the life of your batteries and not taking risks. Due to its technical possibilities, this mod is therefore aimed more at experienced vapers.

In short, a nice success which should contribute to register Kamry in the current panorama of the vape.
